Shades of Green

We've have stayed at SOG three times in the last several years, and I got a message that we just got in for the second week of March! I think it's a super deal! I can pay $200 more a night across the street at the Poly for a smaller room. You can buy a lot of little Mickey soaps for that.

I've always thought it might be fun to do the parks while staying at SOG, and then check into a "Disney" resort for a few days and experience that. I just can't make myself cough up that much money.

We normally walk over to the Poly and get the Monorail for the MK, but take the bus to the transportation center for everything else.

The food in the dining room is "club" food, but it's reasonably priced. We always get the Frig and do breakfast in the room, except for one or two character breakfasts.

A word of encouragement. We have always been on the waiting list for each of our visits, and have always gotten in. It's worth putting yourself on it.

I am so glad to hear positive things about SoG. This will be our first trip to WDW - we have waited till the kids are 11 and 8! I have been put in charge of doing ALL the planning...and just happened to stumble upon SoG. You know how it is, when something seems too good to be true, it usually is....but this seems not to be the case with SoG (I hope)! ;) ;) Not to mention that it's nice to get SOME kind of perk after putting up with DH in the ANG for 20 years!

we check into SOG in 4 more days !
I would also encourage you to look at the AP prices......they are a break even on the 8th day, and you will be ready for a quick trip next time the airlines run a great sale !

I am planning my family's first trip to WDW for 8/01 and I feel like I'm the only one doing any planning. My DH assures me that they are indeed excited about going, but that I seem to be doing a good job of planning our trip on my own. All I want is for someone in my family to show the same excitement that I am feeling about this trip. We, too, will be staying at SoG and all the info I'm getting from these posts is invaluable.

I'm thinking about having a gift package sent to our room to be waiting for us when we arrive. I may include the Mickey soaps, fruits, candies, disposable cameras, etc. for the kids (and ME!) so that they don't miss the Disney Magic that may or may not be absent from the SoG.

Good luck in your planning. I'll be watching for more info on SoG on these boards.

Only 195 Days to go!!
