Just thought since we are in the minority here on the resorts board, that we could start our own thread! So everyone who's going to SOG check in here! Tell us when you're going! Also, if you've been there before, share your opinions with us. What's cool, what's not! Tips?

We'll be checking in on 12/4 and checking out on 12/10. We requested rooms overlooking the pool. Now I'm thinking I was crazy to do so, but thought the girls would enjoy that. Hopefully it will be the Mickey Head pool. I've never been there before, but am now looking forward to it.

We will be leaving the day you arrive! I haven't stayed here before. Last trip was at the CR which we loved. I am looking forward to this trip. We tend to not spend too much time in our room, so as long as it is clean and no bed bugs :( then I will be happy!

I plan to bring some of the allergen reducer Febreeze with me. My youngest DD is allergic to Dust Mites, and so I'll need to spray this on the beds anyway.. it helps her a little. You could always bring a long a can of Lysol and go spray happy! :)

We'll be there 10/29-11/2. This will be our 3rd stay at SOG, but the first since the renovations. I hear the walks to the rooms can be lengthy, which I can understand. If you stayed towards the back of the resort before the renovation, that was a lengthy walk in itself. You can't beat the price for what you get. The rooms are large and sleep 5 comfortably. We ate a lot of our evening meals in the sports bar, it was cheap and pretty good. Some of the menus are posted on www.allearsnet.com as well as photos if you haven't seen them.

We're meeting family there Feb. 11-15th. There will be four rooms of us, total, including lots of little kids. One of my sisters has been deployed for three years, so it will be nice to have the family together, again.

We check in on Saturday, Oct 23 and leave the 31st. We've stayed at SOG many times in the last ten years. I spent a week there in July this year, but my room was in the old section. I'm sure we'll be in the new section for this trip as we have a jr suite reserved. In July they were still putting on the finishing touches and weren't real organized yet. Let's hope they've got it all together by now. We're meeting our children and my DH's brother and sisters there to celebrate a birthday.

We'll be there for the first time Oct 27!!:wave2:

For those who have been there before, Is there a bus to Downtown Disney from SOG? We plan on spending some evenings at Downtown Disney.:hyper:

We will check in on 12/1, but check out the next day and move over to the Swan. We have stayed 2 other times and SOG, and have always loved it. We have always stayed on the first floor by the quiet pool, so we had a patio that walked right out to the pool for a late night swim.
We only use the buses to get to AK or MGM, and otherwise always walk to the Poly and grab the monorail.

My family and I will be going Aplil 30th-May 7th and paid the extra $10 to have pool rooms. We will have 3 rooms, I hope they are together and two of them are connecting, but we will not know until we get there because they do not guarantee connecting rooms. We will have a 3 month old ::MickeyMo with us, we planned and made the reservations for this trip before my wife was pregnant, so we are keeping with the plans. We just couldn't miss Disney!

We will be going to Disney Oct. 30 til Nov.6 and will be staying at SOG. It will be our first time staying at this resort. ( My sister is coming and she works for the military) Sounds like a wonderful hotel and I like the idea that you can walk to the next hotel. Thanks for all the helpful info!

We went in August 2004. my husband is 100% disabled Veteran. We was in the new section and I loved it.

The Mickey Pool was near the old section. One thing I found nice was there was a play yard by the pool too. There was also a food place and bathrooms and towles so you could get dressed there if you wanted. We used a stroller to get there with two kids and all the stuff (My grandkids were almost 3 the other and 5 months old) With the kids I wish we would have been closer to the play park but it wasnt too bad to walk with a stroller.

We also used the stroller for the baby the one night we ate at the buffet. They seated us in a corner so we could put the stroller in the corner. It was noce to get to eat and not hold him. He didnt sit up yet for a high chair.

The washers that we used in the new section were really large. I have never seen such large washers in coin operated places.

We had 2 rooms connecting and it was so nice. We never even heard my grandson wake at night to have a bottle. Also they had a nice crib for him. It was a portable crib made of metal on wheels. My daughter brought his mobile and bumper pad so he would feel like its his own space.. One thing there was a refrigerator to keep things cold but no microwave to heat bottles and such. We used powder milk and room temp water we bought but he learned to take bottles with out heating that trip.

If i think of anything else Ill try to put it here too.

Hello everyone!! MY DH,DS9 and DD6 will be going 2/2 - 2/9 and will be staying with friends there. I did read at another site that the fridge can get warm because of it being in a dresser. They say to keep the dresser door open so it can keep air circulating. Has anyone had this problem?

We kept pop, water, milk and lunch meat and it was never warm. In fact it froze the stuff. The refrigerator is about the smallest I have ever seen. We had two rooms so we had two refrigerators to use.

Does anyone know if there are suites are in both the old and new sections. What would be the benefits for each section?

We arrive 11/4 and stay until 11/13!! We have two rooms and it is me, dh, dd(4) and dd(2) along with my parents and my aunt.

Only 12 more working days till we leave!

Our family and friends will be occupying 4 rooms at SOG from
Dec 6 -13th. This will be out 3rd stay at SOG, but first since the renovations. Each of our past stays were awesome and we expect the same again. Some of the things we have enjoyed most about SOG are: the walk to the Poly each day, Evergreen's for a cheap, quick bite and that it is a nice relaxing place to stay. Hope to see some of you there.

Will be staying Dec. 10-15. I was there in May 2004 after the renovations, but was in the old section. Even though I was as far away from the lobby as possible, I still loved to location. Just went out the door down the hallway and was at the pool. Also, my balcony faced the entrance to the golf course, so it was really peaceful!

This will be my 5th time there.

For those who have been there before, Is there a bus to Downtown Disney from SOG? We plan on spending some evenings at Downtown Disney.

When I was there in May, they had two buses. Bus A went to the TTC where you could catch another bus to anywhere, including DTD. Bus B went to the waterpark and MGM.

:wave2: Hi HollyJoy!

We'll be there the same time as you! Dec 3-8 at SoG and then we transfer over to the YC for few days to check it out. This is our 4th or 5th stay at SoG and we've always enjoyed it. The Mickey pool is cute and I'm hoping that it won't be too chilly in December so we can check it out!

I'm sure that we will see you there!! It looks like my daughters are close in age to your daughters.

I can't believe how fast the time is flying! Before you know it, we will be enjoying all the holiday festivities in the world!

:sunny:

Hey Jill!

My oldest daughter was reading over my shoulder and commented on your older daughters Lizzie shirt! "I have the same shirt!" LOL Maybe we'll see you at the SOG! We requested a pool view, hopefully it's the Mickey pool!
