Shades of Green Question

Does the active or retired "military person" have to go with the family to stay at Shades of Green.

I was telling someone at work about my recent stay at Disney (I stayed at the Poly--no military experience). I had just listened to the Podcast where they talked about Shades of Green.

My co-workers situation is this: His dad was in the military. He and his family + plus his mom (obviously the military person's wife) want to go to WDW. The dad would NOT be going.

Can they stay at Shades of Green? Can the dad make the reservation for his family w/out him?

nikjd68,
The rule at Shades of Green is the military person can book up to 3 rooms, but they need to be present and show military ID when checking in.

Peace,

My husband is active duty Navy and from what I have been told he does NOT have to be present if we choose to stay at SOG. As an active duty dependant I can make the reservations myself and just have to show ID at checkin.

I am a retired military spouse. I was able to book two rooms and stay without my spouse with me. The sponser must have a military ID and must be a registered guest. You are afforded all the benefits of the military personnel. Booking rooms, discounted tickets, etc. Also some DOD personnel qualify for the benefits as well.

I just checked into this and was told by SOG that as a spouse of a retired miliary eligible person, I can book the room and he will not need to travel with our party. However, I will need my military dependent ID when I check in.

After I called and asked, I also realized that that question is answered on their FAQ page on the SOG website.
