My DH is retired military with most of his time from reserves. We go in October for a meeting about his benefits and get our ID cards. After that can we use Shades of Green in the future? Can I ever use it without him? He really does not want to go since he is Disney impaired. I would love to be able to stay there to save on money but I wouldn't want to take advantage of something that others deserve more than we do.
Thanks for any information that you can give.

i know retired military & their families are still able to stay at shades of green with the price based on his ranking, etc. so i dont see any problem with you staying there with out dh.

check out shades of greens new website for additional info, etc. http://www.shadesofgreen.org/home.html

If he is eligible to go, you can go without him (you would need to show your dependent ID card). I took my mom without my DH, who is active duty Air Force.

Their website has a long list of everyone qualified, you could check that to make sure. It sounds to me like you would qualify.

My DH is retired Navy and DD and I are going w/o him on our next trip. When I booked through SOG, I told them that he wasn't going and they said that as long as I had a valid military dependent ID card, I could book a room.

Regardless of which branch (even reserve branch) in which your husband served he has the benefits for himself and his family (that's you, darling! ;) ) You know he and the family did their part (and so do we :goodvibes ). Enjoy! You deserve it. :earsboy:

Yippee! :cheer2:
Thanks guys, I knew that someone here would be in the know. I wish my husband loved Disney as much as I do, but you can't force it. Now maybe I'll get my Disney fix before I retire from teaching June 2007 for 33 fun years.

DH did say that he would go with me for my retirement trip to the resort of my choice! Only problem is he acts like an old man and doesn't enjoy the magic as I do.
I'm going to Disney I hope sooner than planned. :moped:

Thanks again!!!!

DH may enjoy SoG as a vacation in itself. It's quiet--very grown up I think. There's golf and a great pool. I went with my older mother and she loved sitting peacefully on the balcony reading. It really is a quiet, relaxing, beautiful place and the rooms are big and NICE. You could both go, he could stay at the resort and you could do the parks, maybe meeting up for dinner at one of the resorts in the evening. (I thought this through because I was thinking of asking my dad to come this spring, and he'd probably rather not do the parks and his complaining would ruin our magic, but he'd love the peace of the resort.) Oh, and meals there I did not find the best, but they are CHEAP! :teeth:
