My husband will be on leave from OIF in May 2006. :lovestruc We, our four kids, a kid's friend, my husband's parents, and my brother-in-law and his wife will all be trekking to WDW to celebrate and we're going to be staying at SOG.

So, I was wondering if anyone had links to sites that had some pictures of SOG (aside from the official site which doesn't have any good pics). I'd like to e-mail them to my relatives to psych them up about the trip, other then just getting to see my soldier. Also, if anyone knows where any are posted here or would like to e-mail me some, that would be awesome, too!

Also, we're going to be using the R&R package which includes breakfast and dinner buffets at SOG. At which restaurant do they have the buffet? (I think it's Garden Gallery.) Also, does anyone know until what time they serve? With the teens coming, we would worry about losing that benefit by not getting back early enough. We may be better off doing an early dinner buffet then, for those who still have it in them, heading back to the park for the nighttime festivities.)

Thanks in advance!

Tina

Hi Tina,

I'm a Tina as well and have a husband deployed to Iraq also. Have you checked out the Shades of Green website? Also another website to check out the buffets and other places to eat is http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm This website has places from all over The Wold including Shades of Green. Have a great time on R&R and if you haven't done this before include a little padding in case there is any difficulty on his way home. I have no idea when our R&R is but I'm ready. :flower:

Hi, Tina! Thanks for your reply. I did manage to find some pictures on www.tripadvisor.com (ones that other travelers had posted with their reviews). It appears to meet the description that others have posted...not typical Army sparseness. Very nice.

My husband was able to request his leave as soon as he got to his "permanent" post overseas (about three months into his deployment). His leave is from May 1 to May 15 2006 but he said his superiors told him he will be allowed to leave one day early to get home and will be allowed two days to get back (all travel provided by the Army, of course). I hope this is the experience you have when your husband is granted leave because it means travel time isn't going to cut into family time. :sunny: Nonetheless, our vacation will be padded by several days on either side not only to account for problems but because everyone needs a break after coming home from Disney! Luckily, I will be able to take off work for his entire leave.

Your picture is very nice. You and your husband look very much in love. :love2:
