SoG is sold out for our vacation dates and offered to check to see if they could get us a room at a Disney hotel at an "overflow" rate. You could choose a budget, moderate or deluxe resort. My question is what is the "overflow" rate? Is it the same as you would pay if you were staying at SoG??? :confused3

No it's not the SOG rate, which would be awesome. I booked an overflow rate for our Novemeber trip, we were able to get AKL for 216 (tax included) per night. Which for AKL isn't a bad deal.

No, its a reduced rate that is fixed without consideration to rank. It is lower than other discounts and programs available however. You will have to pay resort/state taxes as well, unlike an SoG stay.

No, overflow rates are not what you'd pay for a room at SOG. But they are a considerable discount for another WDW resort. In fact, we usually try to book SOG "late", hoping they are full so that we'll be offered overflow. :)

Make sure to know what the rack rate is at your preferred WDW resort before you call SOG to ask about their overflow rates. That way you'll be able to see just how much of a discount you are getting.

This doesn't happen very often, but sometimes during very busy times SOG may be able to offer to book you a room at another Disney resort but without any discount. But usually they offer you a good rate.

At one time someone posted that you could pay for your "overflow rate resort room" stay at SOG, thus saving any taxes you'd have to pay if you paid directly at your resort.
I've never had the opportunity to try that, so I don't know if that really could be the case.

We got an "overflow" rate from SOG at the BWI this past April. The "overflow" rate was better than an AP rate. :teeth:
