Shades of Green Frustration

We are getting married at Shades of Green. I posted on here before about their lack of response to the initial email. I did not think it could get worse. Once I gave them half the payment I haven't heard from them since (In January). I called a few weeks ago to ask some basic questions (flowers/reception/ day before) and the woman handling it (Virginia) was off for two weeks. I've sent her many emails regarding these little questions with no response, so I wait two weeks and finally get ahold of her today. I think I completely ruined her day by calling, or at least that's how it sounded. One of my main questions was regarding the day before. I do not want a rehearsal (nor is it offered) since it's such a small basic ceremony but it would be nice to talk to someone about how it is all going to go down. (this could be done in an office) First thing she did was made a point that she didn't need to be there for that. (ok) Then if I wanted a minister there it'd be another $100. Finally she tells me there is no time the day before the ceremony. If I was flying in I would be freaking out...you're just supposed to show up on the day and that's it? Luckily we are driving and will be there two days before. She managed to ''squeeze'' us in at 6:00, after a good ten minutes of just sitting on the phone silent with an occasional keyboard sound. Now I'm off the phone and hoping she meant pm and not am.

My point in posting this is not only to vent, but for any future SOG brides. Be prepared for no email responses and to do anything by phone. I prefer having things in writing. This is so frustrating.

Your a military bride since your using shades of green. Hold her to that standard use military time not standard time when discussing things with her. Follow up your calls with emails with bullet points of your questions and request she respond to them via email it would probably be easier for her.

I would call SOG and find out who is responsible for conventions and conferences in house. Find out if they have more then one wedding coordinator. If she's not answering your questions you have the right to call and complain.

But first I would give her a chance. You should give her a reasonable time frame for her to answer you. Though your in wedding mode I'm sure she's juggling many brides and depending on how far out yours ceremony is she may have a way that she handles things.

I too would be freaking out and very frustrated and upset. I'm sorry you are going through this... I hope it gets better.:goodvibes

Since I made payment in Jan. I have yet to get an email back from her. On SOG's facebook someone else complained about their lack of email responses, and whomever is running the page said to call, so it's obviously an issue. I am by no means expect a response the second I hit send, or bombarding her with emails. The least she could do is respond just saying I got your email. I'm not trying to be bridezilla, and am just thankful that I will be there a few days prior to handle anything face to face. I have tried to giver her a chance, as I have been working with her since January and today, March 29th, is the first response I have received since that January payment, and was initiated by myself. With a month to go, a change in coordinator might be best, here's hoping they have more than one!

While I would love to hold them to military standards, that isn't saying much. I have been around the military for over 20 years and customer service isn't a high point regarding non-mission essential things. (or at times otherwise) I'm sure it is a debatable subject and I am not trying to turn this into a pro/anti military rant so I will leave it there.:hippie:

Just regarding the question of rehearsal or meeting the day before. At Disney Escape brides don't get anything like that and its not a problem. We didn't have anything and everything went off without a hitch. Before the ceremony the Rev will go through with the Groom where he needs to stand etc.

That's good to know!

Guess this is all part of the joy of not getting married where you live :)

Since I was quick to post about the negative I wanted to update with a positive note. After not receiving an email for almost 2 months to date, Saturday morning I get a response to one of the emails I sent. Even more surprising is I thought it was a Mon-Fri type thing.

Funnily enough it made me wonder if Virginia checks the Dis boards. Wouldn't that be ironic!

I also and having a wedding at sog. I suggest if your person isn't helping to use Dianna tanner. She has been helping me and the longest it has taken for a reply was 2 days. I was also up there on vaca a few wks ago and got some info. They do offer rehearsal dinners would just have to call them and let them know time youd like to come in to run thru it, and they dont have to be there for it.You can set up the hall 3 hours prior to the wedding.

Thanks for suggesting another person! I think I have just come across a bad point of contact. (lucky me lol) We're getting there a few days before so I'm just going to have to knock everything out then. I think I've got most of my questions answered by calling and talking to possibly every person that works there other than Virginia.
