Shades of Green for DOD contractors?

We hope to visit WDW late 2004. I understand Shades of Green is reserved for military / DOD personnel. I find this wonderful. We don’t do enough for our servicemen/women.
Are employees of major defence contractors (Lockheed Martin for example) allowed to make reservations there as well? Can a serviceman make a reservation for a friend to stay (legitimately) there? The apparent room size is appealing for our family size but I want to make sure I’m doing nothing immoral given the sacrifice they (servicemen) make for us.

Sorry, DoD contractor employees aren't eligible. If your armed forces or eligible DoD friend was staying with you, then yes, they can reserve up to three room under their entitlement. But if you aren't vacationing with the friend you can't stay there. Your friend would have to present their DoD or military ID at check in, and you can't check in without them present.

While the rooms are large, I didn't find them that much different than the rooms at the GF or Polynesian size wise. They aren't themed like WDW operated resorts are. They are clean and comfortable.

I've stayed there twice, one room had a second sink outside the bathroom which was handy with three woman sharing a room LOL! The other only had one sink, in the bathroom.

I'm by no means a SoG expert, but would ba heppy to answer any questions about it that I can.

Yes, the person who is eligible to stay at Shades of Green can bring up to 5 guest but must stay at the resort with their guest during their stay.

Unless they've changed their rules, the sponsor may bring up to a total of 18 guests (5 per each of the 3 rooms allowed + 3 children under 1) for 3 standard rooms. That total could be larger if the person had one, or more, suites. The sponsor is allowed 3 rooms up to the capacity of each room. Hope that explains it better! :)

dajodainmd,

I was told the only contractors eligible were those receiving their paychecks directly from the government.
