shades of green and magic bands

Planning a trip in July. We are staying at Bay Lake Tower and my sister in law is considering Shades of Green. Do they have magic bands there? I know they can purchase separately and link.... what else do I need to know about synchronizing our trip? Thanks

First, guests do not need MagicBands to make advance FP+ reservations (or to use FP+ at the parks.)
The regular plastic tickets have built-in RFID chips that will work for FP+ and park entry, etc. like the MB.

So, what is IMPORTANT is for you to include them in your friends and family listing in your MyDisneyExperience account,
and make sure that ALL of you have purchased tickets before your 60-days-before-check-in date so that
you can make advanced FP+ reservations on your 60-day date.
(That date is surely very soon. You can make FP+ after that date, of course, so just get the tickets
and link their NUMBERS into MDE as soon as possible.)


If SoG offers free MB, that will be fine.
If not, your friends can buy MB in advance (www.disneystore.com) or when they get to WDW,
or not at all, and just use their tickets at the parks.

Shades of Green guests do not get Magic Bands. For the purposes of Magic Bands and FP+, SOG guests are considered "offsite". They are, however, considered onsite guests for EMH access.

If that's the case, guppy1013 won't be able to make FP+ reservations for those SoG guests until 30 days before check-in,
and then, only one-day-at-a-time for FP+ reservations (as each day becomes "30 days in advance" after that first date.)

Still more complications left for guests to resolve with this "fabulous new system."

You are correct, Robo...I should have stated it more clearly. Yes, SOG guests only get the 30 day window.

I have asked SOG a few times why they have not worked out a 60 day window, as Swan and Dolphin have, but of course there is no real answer they give out. I hope with continued feedback from SOG guests/potential guests, they'll be able to work something out with Disney to grant a 60 day window.

We stayed at SOG in October, 2014. We bought our magic bands at the ticket windows that are in front of the parks. We had purchased tickets prior, through SOG and were able to select fastpasses 30 days before. We arrived at our first park on our first day super early so we could purchase our magic bands and link our tickets to them in time to make rope drop. We loved our stay at SOG and really appreciate the discounts they offer to Active and Retired military.

Probably same reason some on site non Disney property guests get EMH, money.
