Hi we will be in the world for most of May, and want to go to both water parks, but as we have 2 young children we need a base in the shade.

If we get there for park opening, has anyone got any recommendations of where to set up base camp?? (Ideally I'd like to be in the toddler area so that I can sit with my baby(9mths) in the shade whilst watching DH & DS4 in the childrens area. But if that isn't possible then having a shaded spot would be my main priority - any ideas???:confused3

Plus is it acceptable to grab a good spot and leave your things there while you go off an explore together??? Will someone come along and move my things if they decide they'd like my spot??!!!:confused3 :thumbsup2

We have always gotten to the water park at rope drop and walked purposefully (no locker rentals, towel rentals - can do that later if needed and would advise bringing your own towels to place on your chairs) through the park to where we wanted to set up for the day. At Blizzard Beach, I know there are shaded areas near the toddler area. Look at where the sun is and get your bearings so you know where the sun is going to be as the day progresses so you don't lose your shade just as it gets hot. I have found that no one messes with your stuff, but it is a little easier to move generic towels and look innocent so having distinctive towels helps. I am not as familiar with Typhoon Lagoon's toddler area.

My 3 kids (11, 8 and 5) and I visited Typhoon Lagoon for the first time on Sunday 2/24 and had a great day. They park was not busy at all, we never waited more than 5 minutes for anything and we rode most things 2 or 3 times each. There were plenty of chairs and shaded areas spread around the park. We did rent a locker and left a cooler and dry clothes in it. We had a beach bag with us with snacks and towels and just carried it from area to area as we moved around the park. I don't know if this would work as well if the park was much busier.

There are quite a few shady areas but you should go early. You can leave your stuff and hop in the lazy river to go where you want. We have never had a problem leaving our stuff. You will love TL!

We prefer TL over BB, we like some slides but not the hardcore, whip you suit up to parts unknown kind of rides. There is shade but you will have to get there early and scope out where you want to be. Within TL there are plenty of shady areas, and even on the beach by the wave pool but they go fast. My son ans his best buddy wear those light weight sports shirts that breath and dry fast. They are a little pricy but well worth the cost, they wear those in and out of the water, it prevents sunburns and even in August weather they are comfortable. You just need lots of suncreen for your face.

I bring my own beach towels and set them on as many chairs as I need with my beach bag underneath, camera and all and "knock on wood" no one has ever messed with our things.

The waterparks are a blast and in summer we prefer those to the theme parks, being from Florida we do the theme parks in winter.

Good luck and have fun!

we leave our stuff on chairs and go away and have had no problems.

Thanks for all of your responses!!

If you take a cool bag - does that mean you can bring in snacks and drinks???:confused3 (its just I see that the new Aquatica park isn't allowing you to bring in any food or drinks) - thanks again!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You can bring in your own snacks and drinks - just not anything in glass (except for baby food).

You can leave your towels on the chairs as you explore. No one will bother them. Take the minimum number of chairs you will need for the day and stake out your spot.
