As someone who had bad things happen to them as a kid, the idea that he even *might* have access to children, especially in the position of a pastor/minister (someone kids should be able to trust) scares and saddens me. I try not to judge people, but the fact that he wasn't just accused, he was convicted, and the fact that he was evasive about his past, well...I just hope he doesn't abuse any more kids.

I agree. If he is so inclined, there are other ways he can serve his church/community without being put into a position of such power (and access!).

By the same token, there is a real danger in painting people into a corner, removing any chance for them to regain their dignity. I think we, as a society, should grow a backbone: If people can be rehabilitated, then grant that and all it engenders. If people cannot be rehabilitated, why not lock them up for the duration?

Sexual abuse of children is a sickness, its not only about sex, its about power and it is always there, it can be treated but I don't believe it can ever be cured. Why put this man in a position where he may be tempted and why put any children in his (future) congregation at risk?

Forgiveness is one thing. Naivety to the point of stupidity is quite another, especially where children are concerned. If he wants to minister so much, let him fulfill his "call" by ministering to prison inmates. No children there and hey......he can certainly relate to them. No parent with a lick of sense will stay at this church.
