~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
That's what I was thinking too. :thumbsup2 I am debating on printing a few copies of this particular photo, to slide in the binder behind - in case I mess up. LOL
Diane, I forgot to give you the hint this morning about the bags I am making for my dds... The oldest is getting a bag that is based on a ride and a movie (one in the same). This is the one I am super excited about - if I can get my applique to turn out as nice as it looks in my head. popcorn:: The youngest, I just can't give hints for - but it is her FAVORITE character. :thumbsup2
D~
If you're afraid of sharpies, get some photo-pens. They can be found with Scrapbooking. They are designed to write on photos. :thumbsup2 (I actually have a set that I bought years ago. They weren't very expensive either.)
Totally love the TS set! It's adorable!!!! I love your tag, too! :cloud9:
you are right they are perfect for the set! can't wait to surprise Megan with them for our DLR trip!
You can use Megan photos on your site, but please swirl out her face...I'm okay with it being posted here but not on other sites, esp Facebook!
Oh, now I just can't wait to see what you have planned out! I am not sure who is your younger dd's favorite character. I am sure you've mentioned it but it has slipped my mind. For your older dd, it is based on a ride and a movie so that narrows the possibilities. I guess I can throw out the Country Bear Jamboree. That technically isn't a ride, it is a show. So what does leave???? Toy Story???? Pirates of the Caribbean???? Finding Nemo? Winnie the Pooh????? Alice in Wonderland/Teacups????? Peter Pan??? Snow White???? The Haunted Mansion???? Now I am going to spend all evening listing all the rides/movies in my head.:rotfl:
This is probably my favorite set, ever. Toy Story runs a very close 2nd to Donald (I did not say that out loud) and it is certainly my all time favorite Pixar movie... I will save my "Top 10" list for another day.
Then, after I had finished the wallet, I was at the MOA with my aunt and cousin doing some Christmas shopping, and I found these perfect TS Alien keychains... It couldn't have been more perfect for this set. :lovestruc
Love the Toy Story bag. The little Alien is the perfect addition. What a super set! I love Toy Story. It is one of my favorite Disney movies. Funny because my DH doesn't like it at all!
What a great idea! And you could probably use a Michaels coupon to get it for less.
That's adorable!!!! I think that's some of your best applique work ever too!!!! I can't even begin to imagine how hard doing something so tiny by hand and doing it so perfect is. I can applique decently when it's large, but my tiny things never look half as good as what you do.
I asked a question of you and apparently you are ignoring me since you took over MY ptr (I was very busy sewing, I'll try to do better this week). Do you know if 18" doll shoes fit Bitty Babies?
Today I MUST MUST MUST do at least two outfits for a Bitty Baby. It will be good practice for making my dd some clothes for her doll.
We got our bag yesterday!
Emilie loves it! I will try to get an action shot at the park next weekend when we go.
I am absolutely in love with the Toy Story Bag. Fabulous.
Thanks! It is one of my favorite sets - don't be too surprised if I end up with one of my own for our trip. :lovestruc
I love the Toy Story bag and coin purse. The little green alien is the perfect addition.
I love your tags as well. Do you mind me asking how you made your tags? I understand if you don't want to share though.
Thank you. :thumbsup2
The tags I designed myself, I came up with several versions, then I think I narrowed them down to 3 choices - I had everyone on FB vote... I didn't choose #1 though, I ended up going with #2, the only difference between them was the color of the "D~". THe labels, themselves, I have printed by a shop on Etsy... she is super nice and really works with you to get everything right. She is in Australia - so it does take a bit of time (due to time differencees) to get things proofed, and then once she mails the labels, they take over a week to get here. Personally, the labels aren't that great of quality - I wish I could afford to buy better ones - but it's isn't easy to find someone who can prints so many tiny details on such a small surface. For the price I pay for them, the quantity I get, and how cute they really are - I couldn't be more satisfied. :lovestruc I hope I answered your question. :wizard:
Thank you for letting me use Megan's photo, when the time comes, I would never put her picture (or anyone else's, especially a child) up on FB or any other site. When I initially asked, I was thinking of maybe posting it here in my PTR, and then in my Picasa album (the one that I have linked in my Etsy store)... and I would totally swirl/blur/obscure any faces in the photo. After editing the photo - I would delete the original from my hard drive. :lovestruc And, of course, anyone that is uncomfortable with this, I won't use their photos - I am totally fine with that. :thumbsup2
Thanks! :) Oh, I can't believe your DH doesn't like it... :confused3 I just assumed that everyone loved TS. :lovestruc
Love the TS bag and wallet! And the little alien! Who can resist those little cuties? :rotfl: :goodvibes
I know. :lovestruc I bought a couple extra (one for myself - if I ever make myself a bag)... But I am going to watch them, if they ever go any cheaper - I'll get a few more. :thumbsup2
Thanks Andrea... Personally, I think my appliques suck. :rolleyes1 I am always so amazed when you all say how wonderful they are - I always wonder if everyone just says that so they don't hurt my feelings. :lovestruc <---- I am not trying to say that in a mean way, I just think there are so many other people out there that do some really amazing hand applique work (you and Ellen for one)...
I asked a question of you and apparently you are ignoring me since you took over MY ptr (I was very busy sewing, I'll try to do better this week). Do you know if 18" doll shoes fit Bitty Babies?
Sorry, I did totally miss this question. They do fit. The bitty shoes are a hair tight on the 18" dolls - but with a bit of finesse - they work just fine. And the 18" shoes sometimes work for Bitty, they are just a bit awkward. The reason behind this, is Bitty's feet are shaped more like a baby doll feet, and the 18" girls feet are flat on the bottom so they can stand. So, sometimes, because of the shape of Bitty feet, they just don't fit well in the 18" shoes. Does that make sense?
Today I MUST MUST MUST do at least two outfits for a Bitty Baby. It will be good practice for making my dd some clothes for her doll.
Git er done Andrea.... :rotfl2:
Well, D~ has a time limit this morning. I finished my latest bag last night, but I still need to make the zipper pull. So, I plan to do that just as soon as I am finished here. Then I will take a bunch of pictures, post them and immediately run to the PO before it closes at 11.... This person leaves for her trip in under 2 weeks, and I just don't want to run the risk of waiting until Monday to ship.
Then I will be working on a doll outfit order, which I would like to finish this weekend - it has a very detailed applique - so it might be slow going. :rolleyes1
This was a really fun bag to make, considering that I am in the Holiday spirit and all. :lovestruc
I am very happy with the applique, Mr. Rocket was being especially nice to me that day - maybe he was in the Holiday spirit too???
Front - I quilted the entire bag in a fun bright green thread (Not quite lime green) and it really gives a fun twist to the whole bag:
The front zip pocket - I just have to add, that Victoria picked out the ric-rac for this top accent of the slip-iin pocket. I was really struggling with what to do here, and she just went through my ric-rac drawer and pulled these out - I think it turned out to be a really neat accent, and one of my favorite parts of this bag. I also love how wonderful Patience's stitch is... :lovestruc
Looking down into the front slip-in pocket... My only complaint about this holiday fabric, and maybe some of you have experienced this, as well... The characters just scattered about in a random placement - so no matter which way I cut, some of them ended up to be upside down. :headache:
My guess for your DD bag is Nemo or Alice!
I know you would never post our kiddos without our permission!
If its my outfit you are working so quickly on, no problems if it doesn't get done by xmas...get your other orders and your girls done first!
Ohhhhhhh! Adorable!!!!! I love this applique too!!! Very well done -- I think Mr. Rocket has taken quite the liking to you :flower3:
Thank you for the shoe info. I wanted to get bunny slippers that fit 18" dolls as a birthday gift to coordinate with jammies I am making for dd's friend. Her doll is a Bitty Baby though -- I don't know why the parents just don't get her an AG as she is turning 6 years old and is pretty responsible. I am thinking the slippers might work then as they are not formed shoes.
So far I have one knit dress with a butterfly appliqued on it and one t-shirt done. I am making jeans to coordinate with the t and after embroidering over 10 hearts on the jeans it mucked up on the last heart and is beyond repair so I'm starting over but each pant leg is now only getting 6 or 7 hearts because I can't be doing this all day. While my machine is embroidering I just started a stripwork dress. And then I will make a portrait peasant nightgown. Thank goodness the dogs are at the groomers and not here bugging me today -- but the kids are home! I just popped on b/c they requested lunch so I was downstairs for a few minutes. Back up to the sewing hole!
How much do you charge for these bags? IF you need to PM me, please do so but I'm thinking I need one for our next trip at least!
I sent you a pm. I don't know exactly what she charges, but I sent you where she sells so you can find out :)
That is such a cute bag! I love how the Mickey turned out and it is great that your dd helped you pick out the rick rack.
Do I dare tell you that one of your guesses is correct? :surfweb:
D~
Now I can't wait to see which one!!! I have not seen the Pirates of the Caribbean movies but my nephew loved them. I like the cartoon movies better. I wonder which movie it is going to be???????
The photo markers are a great idea... Tell me, do you know if the smear easily though? I have some Creative Memories ones, but you have to sit there forever and blow on them so they dry - otherwise they smear. I'd really like something that I can slide the picture out, mark it off and slide it back in - skipping the blowing stage. :surfweb:
The ones I purchased dried quickly. I'd fan it once or twice (because I'm OCD like that) and it was dried. But I can't recall the brand. :guilty: The kids found them one day ... so ... they're who knows where. :sad2:
I recall the brand I had being silver pens and the color was on a dot on the cap, as well as a small portion of the bottom of the pen. I only smeared on once, that I recall, and it was because I did touch it immediately.
Anyway, totally LOVE the Christmas Mickey bag!!!! Sooo jealous! SOOO SUPER JEALOUS! :p
I've been tinkering in Photoshop again this morning, trying to get our individual park day pages in order, since I rebooked our trip last week.
I also stumbled upon a bunch of great Disney fonts while I was searching for something for another project I am working on... So, I've completely redone a lot of our individual pages.
Anyways, Day 1....
