Sewers: holiday fabric sale!

Ok, you know who you are...those out there who occasionally wonder if there is a 12 step program for fabric junkies....

If this is you...run do not walk to JoAnnes if you have any interest in holiday fabrics. I stopped there Friday just to pick up the nice servicable black broadcloth I needed for a British domestic's uniform for our fall drama production.

Uh huh... the holiday special occasion fabrics are 50% off through 11/6. I picked up a sinfully wonderful forest green velvet with a gold metallic holly leaf embroidery. For DD we picked up a royal blue crushed velvet with snowflake imprints. They are soft drapy washable fabrics and ended up being about $6.50 a yard!

I'm doing a bias skirt and soft long vest in the green with a gold silk essence blouse (vest lined in same) and a simple scoop neck, princess cut dress for DD although she has elected to have the bell sleeve from the elbow down.

I'm just not going there myself. With my almost 8mo I don't think I'll manage to get to any sewing (ok, I blame the baby....but maybe its the homeschooling with the 9yo and the 4yo constantly needing something) anytime soon. Once the kids are bigger I'm in real trouble though....JoAnn's is less than 5 minutes away from me now. I've gone through fabric junkie stages in my life before....and I worked there as a teenager....so I can relate completely!

Huh...it just hit me...I loved working at JoAnn's...I should think about that as a part time job once the baby's a bit bigger! I always had the funnest time helping sweet little old ladies pick out buttons!

But I do need some fabric....a velvet or something to make magic wand pouches (kids are huge Harry Potter fans and I'm making them wands) so maybe I should stop by. Too bad a friend just gave me a really cute outfit the baby can wear for Christmas....that blue/snowflake fabric sounds gorgeous.
