~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Mike, I'm a little behind everywhere on the DIS lately, but wanted to extend my sympathies to you as well on the loss of your Mom.

Hey D - just checking in with you and seeing how everything is. I was a major bum this weekend, didn't feel too good and it was nasty outside. And when it is nasty we seem to never get Internet so I couldn't even catch up on the boards. You are such a motivator D, congrats on your progress and weight/inches loss. I am trying harder to monitor what goes in my mouth, thanks to you! Funny thing about my Dis weekend coming up, I am starting to regret buying the meal plan; oldest son is on a very strict Primal diet, DH is always very strict what he eats, they are both going to drive me crazy. Oh well, I am proud of them but I know they will be like "no dessert for me" "no carbs for me". We will make the best of it.

I cannot believe your ADR's are coming up; can't wait to see your final choices. I can tell this vacation is giving you a little stress; just enjoy okay?

I love the picture of your dad, I am so glad you got to see him. He does indeed sparkle! I have a little something I am going to mail out to him tomorrow. I hope he likes it.

Yay for Josh quitting smoking (or trying to). My boss who just passed away last October was a pack a day smoker for about 40 years, then had quit for the past 10 years. He was determined to stop and quit cold turkey. I don't how he did it. I have heard how hard it is. Prayers!

D - stay safe out there. Especially your drives to work and back. I think of you every day. Have fun in your sewing room, can't wait to see what you are cooking up. Prayers to you and your family.

Hmmmm, I guess my response from yesterday never posted. But maybe I found it. We will see if this works.

D~ I totally get where you are coming from here: It is truly because of his hard work that I get to do all the fun things I get to do, and the sole reason why I get to have a job that I barely make anything at, but I love so much. Yes, it's OUR $$... but Josh is the one who makes it all... AND - he's been driving a crappy vehicle for sooo long - it's only fair that he gets to have a new truck. It really is. He commutes 40 miles/day - on some pretty terrible roads (in the winter) - it really was time.
Having a newer truck will be nice so you don't have to worry about it breaking down - especially in that weather.

Oh and by the way.....I have a new ticker :cool1:
 Yippie for having a ticker.

Again - thank you all so much for your prayers! They mean so much to us! :grouphug: My continued prayers go out to all of you!

D~
Your dad looks so happy and I'm sure he enjoys having you around to spend some time with. Glad you were able to get his old place all cleaned out and that you were able to visit with some family and friends while you were in his neck of the woods.

So, for the month of January, I lost 10.5 lbs! For a total of -33.2lbs since March 2013
D~
:worship: Your progress is outstanding. Kudos for keeping up with your regimen of healthy eating and working out. Maybe you can talk Alli into taking some progress pictures for you or then again just visit the bathroom at your work for a selfie. ;)

I wish I flew out this Tuesday but my trip is still 5 days away. I leave this coming Saturday the 8th. I've got everything laid out for the trip, just needs to go into my suitcase. Oh and I need to pack for the dogs as they will be going to the "doggie spa" for two nights while Jim joins us. I just need to get through this next week at work and it will be time to go! At least it's supposed to be in the 50s here all week so I don't have to deal with any snow.
I hope you have a great trip. Should be nice and warm in Florida to make up for all that cold last week.

Sandra - your boys are so adorable.

Lois - Have a safe and fun trip!

Kathy - I hope you son is recovering from his surgery.

D~ Just wanted to say good luck to Josh in quitting smoking. Maybe he can come up with a personal goal like using the money saved to get a fun toy for the Jeep or the boat? The doctor might have an alternative method of quitting. Or just have his two teenage daughters nag him until he quits???

99.9% of the time (which translates to I have never seen it other wise but that doesn't mean they can't change it...)the fireworks are generally at the same time with just a longer opening after the fireworks.

That does change for special occasions...like New Years Eve and sometimes for 4th of July...

Nini

thanks Nina Raina was worried they wouldn't have the fire works and dessert party.
And D~ I like the truck and I know it feels good not to worry about DH in his old one.
Oh also the baby pics are so cute congradulations!!

Hallo D~! Just dropping by to say hello! I've been away for a while, but I'm BACK...hopefully to stay! No way I will have a chance to go back and catch up on everything, but I did check out the pics of all your recent bags. Adorable as usual! I'm a HUGE fan of polka-dots, so I'm loving some of the recent ones with polka dots! :thumbsup2 I've missed you DIS friend! Glad to be back!

Thanks Sandra! Look at you - that is awesome! I am so proud of you, and I am so happy that your bloodwork is back to normal. I am also happy to hear that you are continuing on this journey, you did so well while you were pregnant, I have no doubt that you will continue to do so. :thumbsup2

Thank you!! It is a great feeling knowing how well I've done. My goal is to lose another 5 lbs between now and my 6 week check up which is very doable as long as I continue to eat well, and it doesn't hurt that I'm nursing and pumping!!

Your also doing awesome!! I know how hard it is to eat at home and am also not looking forward to the eating while on vacation. I want to try to stay on track but tell myself we're going to be on vacation and if I detour from it hopefully all the walking we'll be doing will counter my eating.

Hope your day at Target went fast. Yeah for a productive day!!

Sandra, GREAT news about the diabetes and the wt loss. You go girl!!

Thank you!! I couldn't be happier with the results so far!!

Hope you made it to Orlando with no more delays!!

Sandra - your boys are so adorable.

Thank you!!

Good luck at Target! We are in the midst of another snow/ice storm!

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

THanks! Stay safe out there!

Well, our flight was cancelled due to weather in Atlanta! We got about 4 inches of snow overnight, but that's nothing. A very nice young lady got us booked on a direct flight to Orlando that leaves at 11:20 or so. We'll only be about an hour and a half behind schedule. However....it is sleeting outside right now and I'm wondering if our flight will be cancelled due to OUR weather now. Our bags are already checked in and being held for us at the airport, so hear's hoping we'll still get off the ground. It's a bit disappointing, but I believe God has us where we are supposed to be. And with all that Tess, Jim, Kat and Mark have gone through recently, I'd say I'm pretty blessed! it helps to keep a proper perspective about things, right?

Tess, thanks for the update on Kat. I was wondering how she was doing and how the reconstruction was going. I didn't realize it entailed more than one surgery. She's back on my prayer list for sure.

Sandra, GREAT news about the diabetes and the wt loss. You go girl!!

D~, thanks so much for the prayers for our flights and trip. It really means a lot to me. I hope your day at Target goes well and you continue to get lots done in your sewing room. Isn't it fun to play with the embroidery machine? I'll keep you posted on our continuing efforts to get to Orlando and our favorite Mouse.

Oh no Lois!!! I sure hope that the reason you didn't stop back yesterday is that you were safely on your flight to WDW. I hope you are having a wonderful time, and enjoying the warm weather. :beach: I cannot wait to hear all about this trip!

Can't wait to see the new bag you made...

This snow today has me in a bad mood. I don't know why today did it. But it did. I am SO FED up with it now. enough is enough like some weird joke laughing at us now.. tired of going 15 on the expressways watching cars just spin for no reason but traction.
Sorry. Snow is the villain.

Good luck at Target hope you have a wonderful day!

Soon, young Grasshopper... Soon... ::yes::

I am very anxious for spring to be here too... I've been eyeing new capris, and I'd buy them in a heartbeat if I knew what size I would be in, in 2 months. :scratchin I also have my swimsuit picked out... Don't know what size to order that one in either... :scratchin So, I am just waiting. Any warm thoughts I can think of to get me through these last few weeks of crappy weather...

Target was OK... You know..

I can only imagine!

When we lived in Germany it snowed every single day...but I loved it! Here, they start talking about snow and I start having panic attacks! Luckily we don't have snow very often...and it is not because I don't know how to drive in it or any of the other things people from the north think of when they put snow and Georgia in the same sentence... It is true panic...I am going to be stuck in this stupid house for NO REASON!

Thinking warm thoughts for you...

Nini

Stay warm Nini... And only a few more days until your impromptu trip!! :lovestruc

I hope you have a good day at Target. Some weeks I work a different shift each day. It's very confusing. Thank goodness our schedules are posted on line.
We're having another winter storm today so I'm stuck in the house until I go out and snow blow the driveway.
I'm glad your day was productive and you got a lot done with your projects.
Liz

Thanks! I hope you had a good day Liz and you are staying warm.

D, I'm just checking in. You know why I've not been here every day, but I have been following along.

Glad you got your last custom bag done and that you are getting to start on other things.

I hope work at Target was good.

I hope you are SAFE with all this nasty snow again.

I hope Mark is doing OK? He has been in our prayers.

I will be working on quilting my next bag today - I am pretty excited about it... I hope this person likes primary colors and dots... :scratchin

We didn't get any snow at all yesterday - all of our roads are perfectly clear... Just full of potholes right now... :crazy2: Stay warm and safe out there Kathy.

Hey D and all. First off a huge thank you for the thoughts and prayers after the passing of my Mom. Much much appreciated. One of those deals where it truly was a blessing. Knowing that she is no longer in any pain, is very comforting. So thank you to you all. I just love our little Disney family on the boards.

Hi Mike! It's great to see you! I was so very sad to hear about your Mom... :grouphug:

Also, my quick trip to Orlando, sadly, is over. My conference went well and I got a whole day of Disney in on Sunday and a couple evenings on Monday and Tuesday. I won't go into a ton of details, but, I'm pretty sure I fell in love with the Boardwalk area. Gonna have to rent some points for our next trip to stay there. The kids would love it!! Also, not to sure how much I like the Fastpass+... I stopped by a kiosk to check it out and didn't do any since I didn't ride much that needed Fastpassed. But, the kiosk lines were huge in more than one location. The smallest line was in Adventureland, but I would guess that the wait for them at the other kiosks were at least 30-45 minutes, if not more.

When I saw the news of your Mom - I wasn't sure you were still going to take this trip, but I am very happy to hear that you went, and I am certain it was very good for your soul. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the Boardwalk area - I hope that some day I get to experience it... It looks so wonderful!

All in all, great time...as I sit in MCO, hoping my flight to Newark and then connecting flight to Des Moines stay on time....fingers crossed.

I hope you made it safely home. :flower3:

One last thing. I was actually a little undecided on Sunday what I wanted to do. Originally, I really wanted to do MK and possibly a tour, but wasn't sure how doing it solo would be. So I thought maybe to just resort hop at places we hadn't been yet and see which ones we might want to do. Well....Sunday morning, I decide to go to MK and to get there for rope drop. I had just bought my ticket from my hotel, Bonnet Creek Hilton-beautiful, but off of property...., and started to head to the shuttle and as soon as I got out of the hotel into the drive up area, I barely heard the music playing but paid no attention, until I recognized some of it....so I stopped to listen better. And it was what I first though it was....

To backtrack, Mom was sick for awhile, to where she didn't walk at all the past several years and even prior to that, she was in a wheel chair and would walk every now and then. For my wedding in 2001, I chose a song for our Mother-Son dance, called, "I hope you dance" by Leann Womack. And she did, and it was great. Soooo, it was this very song I heard as I walked to the shuttle. Hadn't heard it in years,....and lost it. Hadnt really done it yet, as I was in "game mode" getting all the arrangements made and taken care of so Dad didn't have to. I'm not much of religious person, but I was amazed at this timing....still gets me choked up just thinking about it again.

So thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers,

Mike

Such a wonderful, wonderful story... YOur Mom is definately watching over you... I believe wholeheartedly in "signs", and I am certain that was one for sure. Just remember - she is always with you, and I know that was her telling you that. (((hugs)))

Thank you so much for stopping by Mike, you and your family (how are they all doing BTW?) have been on my mind. Many hugs to all of you during this time. :lovestruc

Hi Carol - I sure hope you are feeling better now... Sorry it made you a bum all weekend - but as I've recently discovered (all too much) - it's kind of nice being a bum. LOL

Thank you - I never think of myself as a motivator... I just do what I do and talk about it here. It's all of you who motivate me. ::yes::

LOL about the boys driving you crazy... I am sure if influences you to some degree, even if it is annoying. LOL

I cannot believe your ADR's are coming up; can't wait to see your final choices. I can tell this vacation is giving you a little stress; just enjoy okay?

Me niether... It is coming quckly... I just wish my heart was in it. BFF has so much going on, and I am honestly not sure what to make of it? I can't talk about it here, because it's personal for her, but it could certainly impact our trip. :faint: I stll plan to go forward, but it just seems like there is one thing after another not going right... Sigh.

I love the picture of your dad, I am so glad you got to see him. He does indeed sparkle! I have a little something I am going to mail out to him tomorrow. I hope he likes it.

Awww... Thank you! I am anxous to see what you are sending. :goodvibes

for Josh quitting smoking (or trying to). My boss who just passed away last October was a pack a day smoker for about 40 years, then had quit for the past 10 years. He was determined to stop and quit cold turkey. I don't how he did it. I have heard how hard it is. Prayers!

Thanks! He went in to see his Dr. yesterday... His Dr. gave him a prescription for the patches and for some lozenges... :confused3 I sure hope they help, because I know that he has been smoking - definately less than before, but he is still struggling so much. His Dr. also sent him to some sort of new specialist for his back... I sure hope that helps him too, because his back is really getting worse and worse.

D - stay safe out there. Especially your drives to work and back. I think of you every day. Have fun in your sewing room, can't wait to see what you are cooking up. Prayers to you and your family.

THank you Carol - same to you. :) I promise our roads are perfectly clear... They are usually only bad the day of (and sometimes the day after) a storm.

Hmmmm, I guess my response from yesterday never posted. But maybe I found it. We will see if this works.

Hi Liz!

Having a newer truck will be nice so you don't have to worry about it breaking down - especially in that weather.

Yah - I try so hard to be understanding, because he really does let me get away with a lot. I try so hard to not be so much of a tightwad when I know he needs things. It's just hard to swallow a TRUCK vs. new shoes. :rotfl2:

Your dad looks so happy and I'm sure he enjoys having you around to spend some time with. Glad you were able to get his old place all cleaned out and that you were able to visit with some family and friends while you were in his neck of the woods.

Thanks Liz... It has been a lot of fun reconnecting with him. I still struggle with my inner battle of "abandoning him"... but I am trying so hard to make up for it. And I know he understands and forgives me... It's me who is having a hard time forgiving myself.

Your progress is outstanding. Kudos for keeping up with your regimen of healthy eating and working out. Maybe you can talk Alli into taking some progress pictures for you or then again just visit the bathroom at your work for a selfie

Hahaha... Yah - I know, I need to go out and do another "public restroom selfie"... I just haven't gone anywhere lately... :crazy2: I promise - it's on my "to do" list.

D~ Just wanted to say good luck to Josh in quitting smoking. Maybe he can come up with a personal goal like using the money saved to get a fun toy for the Jeep or the boat? The doctor might have an alternative method of quitting. Or just have his two teenage daughters nag him until he quits???

Thank you... He just went in to see his Dr. yesterday, and he was able to get a prescription for patches and lozenges... We were talking about this exact thing last night, and he said exactly that... LOL - he has the hardest time at work, when he is home, he has us to nag him - so he does better here. :rotfl2:

thanks Nina Raina was worried they wouldn't have the fire works and dessert party.
And D~ I like the truck and I know it feels good not to worry about DH in his old one.

STEPHANIE!!!! I've been wondering where you disappeared to! I am glad to see you back and that you are OK. I worry about my Disfriends when they disappear, so I am glad you stopped in. :lovestruc

Thank you!! It is a great feeling knowing how well I've done. My goal is to lose another 5 lbs between now and my 6 week check up which is very doable as long as I continue to eat well, and it doesn't hurt that I'm nursing and pumping!!

Thanks Sandra... I am so very proud of you - you are doing fantastic! :thumbsup2

I am worried/not worried about eating on vacation... I know I will go with the mindset of enjoying myself while doing the best I can... I just want to know that I have an option (and what that option is) at each place we go to. I am sure I will decide not to be perfect (not like I ever am... LOL).

**********************************************************

My long shift at Target went well yesterday - surprisingly... They scheduled me the same next week... Sigh. I hope this isn't going to be a regular thing, as it really messes up my work out schedule (as in, I can't work out on days I work at Target that early)...

I did take a "selfie" at home before I left for work... I wasn't going to post it here, but since Liz mentioned that it's been so long - I thought I would. It's only from the waist up - so it's not a "real" progress pic - and I am wearing my crappy Target clothes... but... Oh well. LOL Hopefully it tides you all over until I can get a real progress picture done.

2-4-2014.jpg

Today, I am back up in my sewing room, working on my next custom order. I am very excited about it.

I also have to run to town later... I forgot to stop at the bank yesterday to get my Dad's bills paid - so I HAVE to go do that today.

I hope you all have a fantastic day... Lois - I hope you made the trip Ok. Kathy, I hope Mark is doing OK. Tess, I hope that Kat is doing well, and recovering nicely. My good thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

D~

Wow D~, you look GREAT....even in a "half-shot" you can really tell a difference from your pics from August!!!:cool1: You're gonna be so much more comfortable on your trip this year :worship:

D, you look great.:thumbsup2 keep up the good work. Mark is dealing with a lot of pain, but it is to be anticipated. Nurse Alisha is taking good care if him and we head there tomorrow morning fir the weekend and I am making him his favorite...chocolate chip cookies.

Primary colors and dots...can't wait to see what that one looks like.

Your hair is adorable.. you look awesome!!! :woohoo:

I don't work out at all on days i am running around like a nut... Figured that is exercise enough.

popcorn:: Can wait to see the FINAL BAG YOU JUST MADE!!!!

Thinking warm thoughts for you...

Nini

Thank you Nini!!!! Everyday in Germany?!?! No thanks. Between their crazy driving then add snow?!?!? How did you survive?!?!

Sure! People who are not used to getting this White CRAP all over do not know how to drive/act!!! i saw how they abandoned their cars! :scared1:
That's CRAZY!!!

Everyone is always in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Stay warm. im still contemplating on driving south and NOT STOPPING until i see SUN AND PALM TREES!

BOOOOOOOO I hope the pain subsides!!! poor guy. He is very lucky to have Nurse Alisha!!! Be careful this weekend and driving we are supposed to get more snow... :crazy2:

Just stopping in really quickly to say :wave2:! I don't know if I'll get back on here again before I leave Saturday morning. I'm going crazy with excitement today I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the next two days of work! Hope everyone has a great week!

I wrote a post on my own ptr, but I guess I'll post here too. We had the worst ice storm I can remember Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. We lost power about 5 am on Wednesday morning and it is still out at home. Which means, no heat, no cooking, no internet. Charlie built a fire in the fireplace so we were able to be comfortable with blankets. He went out in search of coffee once the roads were clear. Trees were down everywhere and you could hear the pop when branches broke off. I read a book and cleaned the kitchen, but once the book was finished I was bored. We ended up sleeping in the family room. I woke up and came into work this morning. At least its warm here, and there is coffee!

Kat is doing well. She was up and walking yesterday. She just amazes me. She has the absolute best attitude of any 20 year old I've ever met. She will 21 in 2 weeks and her dad is planning a huge party for her. Her next surgery is in 3 months - that should be the last one, I think.

I think the latest reports on the potential storm this weekend is that the storm has fizzled out. I hope so. I'm not sure I can deal with a blizzard at this point.

Still have not taken pictures of the bag or t-shirts that I've finished. I have a couple more to do. Hopefully I can get them finished this weekend. I also have a gift for your dad to send, once it is finished. Just a bit more to do on it, so I hope to have that ready to mail on Saturday too.

I can't believe it is almost August ADR times. I'm also going in august and haven't even given a thought to where we are going to eat or if we are doing the dining plan for part of our trip.

D!!!!!!! That picture is amazing. I love your hair too, but the changes in your body are really outstanding. :cheer2:

Just stopping in really quickly to say :wave2:! I don't know if I'll get back on here again before I leave Saturday morning. I'm going crazy with excitement today I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the next two days of work! Hope everyone has a great week!
Have a great trip. Is this the trip for your cousin's wedding? It will be so much fun. Hope you share the details when you get home.

We ended up sleeping in the family room. I woke up and came into work this morning. At least its warm here, and there is coffee!
Brrr, I was so glad last week during our snow "storm" that we had power. Glad the roads were clear and you could make it to work for the coffee and heat. Hope the weather stays clear for you. Kat has made some great progress and her attitude probably has alot to do with that. Hope you share your latest creations.

D~ Looking forward to seeing your latest creation but I guess not as much as Mo. :)

LOL).

I get it. That's how I was when I first found out I had the gestational diabetes and trying to figure out what I could and couldn't eat. The DH would throw in us going out and that made it even more difficult but I made it work and know I'll be able to make it work on vacation too. I'm far from perfect but we do what we can to survive and make it work for us.

Your looking great!!! You can really see the difference!!

Looking great D~ what is this diet your on.......primal? don't think I ever heard of it before ,but it is sure working for you..Keep up the good work.
