Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

Quick note about bobbins...what size bobbins does Patience take? Make sure they are the same as the 770...or you might be in for a bad shock when they don't work!

My old machines do NOT take the same size as my newer ones...and the 770 is of course one of the newer ones...

I'll look and see if I can find the link to all information on bobbins....later!

Running soooooo far behind today!

Oooh, that's right... Forgot about that. Leave it to Nini to keep me on the straight and narrow path. :lovestruc

I can't remember off the top of my head which bobbins Patience takes... She takes Class 15 bobbins (but I can't use the ones they make now, I have to special order them).

OK - I just looked up the manual for the PE770... It does not look like the same bobbin - definately a different model. However, it does have the notch that Patience needs for bobbin winding - so I may be able to use her to wind bobbins??? If not, then I may just need to buy a case of bobbins from somewhere??? Where did you order your prewound bobbins from Nini?

D~

LOVED the egg packages! That is so freakin' creative! Must store that idea away for future use! Max has definitely grown a bunch! Such a cutie!

just leaving you all with an early wish for Easter....

see you all when we get home...."TRY" to behave yourselves while I'm gone...remember I'll be checking in :rolleyes1 and you never know when that might be :lmao:

Marathon...but I try to get them at the Sewing Expo when they come to Atlanta. The box of one gross...is still over half full after a year and a half! But when I was winding my own I went through 5 spools of bobbin thread in 6 months! (I think the spools were something like $20....) The spools are plastic and actually reusable. I use them in my sewing machine all the time. Of course, now I throw them away when I am done with them...I have too many...

Also...when you buy plastic bobbins...my sewing machine is a Singer...so I bought Singer brand bobbins. Out of EVERY pack of three, at least 2 of them were defective! Singer told me they were made in China and they had no control over the quality. So I stopped buying them. Out of 7 packs I think I got maybe 3 that worked! They would break the first time I wound them....

Nini

PS...it REALLY isn't that hard to keep straight...after a week or so it will all become second nature to you. I just wish I had found some of these types of tips when I first started. I was positive I had torn up my machine ...several times! When all it was is I wasn't using the right ting or doing it the right way... (I even hooped the stabilizer on TOP of my fabric once...since it was white fabric I didn't realize it until I was finished! LOL!!)

MARIANNE: Adorable shirts! I would have been pretty peeved about how the first one stitched out though. The second one looks awesome. The first one looks even worse than the Cat in The Hat design I complained about -- I guess I shouldn't have complained! My kids don't get Easter shirts -- I'm just not that into Easter -- my least favorite holiday.

D~: My Singer takes a different bobbin spool than my PE770 does, but I can still wind the Brother bobbin spools on my Singer. I can also wind the bobbins from my 2nd Singer on my 1st Singer and they are completely different bobbin styles and sizes. I guess you'd just have to try it to see if it works. I never priced new bobbin thread -- I went to buy some and sew-vac was out of it so Bruce (my loyal Sew-Vac guru) gave me a free spool that had been barely used. Maybe once I have to purchase my own I'll buy some prewounds -- I actually think I'd like the time saving feature of having prewounds as winding bobbins is not my favorite past time.

I can't remember if I put it on the list or not, but a can of Dritz 505 (?) spray is in order as well. It's around $15 for a can :scared1: at Joann's -- so have a coupon handy when you buy it! I keep meaning to check if Wally has it and what their price is. I just bought my second can but I don't use my machine as much as someone like Nini or Chiara -- I don't currently sell so it's just used for gives and family -- and now for Amy -- she just came over today and we made a shirt for her mom :)

MM is getting skinny!!! He's definitely grown!

I never posted duck pics yet b/c I haven't taken any, but the blessed Miss Lily woke dh and I up at 3:45am quacking away. After about 15 minutes of ridiculous quacking she flew away. She comes back to her nest between 6 and 7am. Personally, I think that's a bit long to be away from ones eggs, but hopefully she knows what she's doing. If Marianne's egg survived postal travel from NC to MN hopefully duck eggs will be OK unattended for a couple of hours. I am dying for the babies to be born and leave so I can see the nest. She is so well hidden that you can't see it. And I see the thread you received was Donald Blue!

I'm sorry, but that one cracks me up! I look up to you as the wise woman of sewing who can do wrong and creates everything meticulously -- glad to find out you are human after all :)

LOL! In an effort to preserve my much undeserved reputation I will NOT tell you about the four tries to get a Birthday t shirt for a little boy! Or the SEVEN tries at getting a single button hole right. Or the bodice I got wrong three times before I got it right. Or the four times I attempted to get one design right. (all this week!)

Let's just say the easiest way to learn is by your mistakes...or the mistakes of others!

Oh yeah...the reason you want to decide on HOW you want to organize them before you buy them..... Last time I counted mine...I had several thousand designs! (I have only been embroidering for 2 years...this count was about 6 months ago!

Awww... Judy... I am so sorry - I totally neglected you, and I feel really badly. THere's no excuse for it, and I am very sorry. I didn't take a picture of what you sent me, initially, I wasn't sure if you wanted me to post about it, because of Pete being out of work at the time. I now feel very badly that I didn't, because the sentiment that you thought of me during a very hard time for your family, deserved adknowledgement - I should have done something, and I didn't. I thought I was doing the right thing at the time, by sending you a PM, but I should have just posted like I do for everyone else - I soooo did no mean to hurt your feelings. I hope you will forgive me.

I will take a picture of what Judy sent me, so you all can see - it is beautiful! The problem, at the moment, is that it's in my washer... So, I must get it in the dryer first. :wizard: Which, sometimes I am really bad at. I still don't know what I am going to make with it... I have a few ideas - but I haven't decided for sure.

Max is doing great with potty training! He didn't have any accidents in the house yesterday... And the other night, I was letting him back into the house, and just as he was coming into the door - he turned around and went back in the yard to go potty. That was a huge milestone for him - and he earned lots of treats for that. :wizard:

I finished a UPB set yesterday. :lovestruc I can't post pics though, because I have to wait for the person to receive it.

I started on my next project yesterday afternoon.

I also want to do another update this morning.

Then I have to go to town to get groceries this morning, then I have to pick Alli up at a friend's house, then go to the meat market, because the pork we ordered is in. I want to be home by noon, so I can go back to my sewing room and spend the rest of the day in there.

D~

Dear D~, I am so sorry my teasing didn't come across in my post, it sounded fun in my head. I told you when you PM'd me before your trip you could tell or not tell, it was entirely up to you. But when I read that you only knew one person in NC, I had to to joke that it COULD have been me, there WAS precedent (although we all know that will not happen anytime soon again, 'cause I did NOT win the lottery). I am afraid because I can't be here as much as I would like the joking fell flat. Please forgive me. :flower3: I keep warning you all I have a weird sense of humor...:joker: I promise no more though, I just can't keep up or ensure it sounds funny...:rotfl: I can't even keep up over on my TR and my PM's and emails are stuffed full again. I promise to just comment on the trip from now on...maybe... :rotfl2:

And I do sincerely apologize... I always forget that you are so close to Marianne and right there with her in NC... :rolleyes1 Maybe I need to be a bit more specific when I am giving hints like that? :wizard:

D~ <--- who is going to start another update shortly.

Day 4 Part A

We had already made the decision the night before, the only reason we had to get to DHS early the next morning, was to get FP for TSM. We decided that TSM wasn't that important to us, since we rode it a few times on our last trip, and prefer BLSRS, we could skip TSM all together.

So, we slept in - sort of.

Well, for most people, it would be considered getting up early - but since we are all early risers...

I woke at 6:45

I let the girls sleep in until 7:30

We all got ready, and ate our light breakfast of oatmeal bars on our way to the bus stop.

We arrived at the POFQ bus stop at 8:45. The bus to DHS took 25+ minutes to arrive, and traffic was awful, as a result, we did not pull in to our bus stop at DHS until 9:45. The park opened at 9. No biggie - we weren't in a hurry to get anywhere, really.

The lines for bag check were a bit annoying, but we found a relatively short one.
IMG_3436.jpg

We immediately went to see what the stand by lines were for RnR and ToT... They were both the same. The FP return was at 10:25 for ToT - so we grabbed FP for ToT and got in the stand by line for RnR... Which was 35 minutes - so the sign said.

And we waited... And I took a few pictures...

IMG_3445.jpg

We were getting closer...
IMG_3446.jpg

IMG_3448.jpg

IMG_3449.jpg

IMG_3450.jpg

Now, I am not sure if I have shared this story here or not.... The last time I rode RnR was in 2003, Allison was 5 and she was (is) my thrill ride junkie... she was tall enough to ride, so we rode. I like inversions on coasters, as long as they are going fast enough that they push your butt into the seat. RnR doesn't do that - you depend completely on the shoulder harness to keep you in. Allison was so little, I was terrified that she would fall out - I remember reaching my arm over to hold her in. I haven't ridden this ride since, because it scares me. Oh - and I really don't like dark coasters.

So, the girls talked me into riding it again... After all, it had been 9 years - a lot can change... "You'll probably like it now Mom." Um, yah, no.... I didn't like it now either.

Once we finished on RnR - it was time to use our FP for ToT. Our return window had just started, and we knew we had to be there right away, so we could get to our lunch ADR at 50's at 11am.

So, the girls have been begging me to go on ToT since we started planning this trip. I don't like dropping either - so I've never even been on ToT. Even though I am a chicken - I thought I would appease them once, and ride. That's it.

We get to the FP return line, show the CM our tickets, and she allows us in. We walk a short distance and around a corner and reach the end of the FP line. You have GOT to be kidding me! The FP line is nearly as long as the stand by line! The girls and I decide that there is no way we can wait in this line to ride ToT, otherwise we won't make our lunch ADR. So we turned around and walked back to the entrance. We told the CM our dillema - and basically, she said too bad - you'll have to get another FP. So, they wouldn't even honor our FPs - even though we had been there on time. I was quite annoyed - it's not our fault that the FP line was so long. So, we grabbed FP for RnR and left.

As we were walking to 50's, I see the "info" booth. I get in line, when it's my turn, I asked the CM where the guest service office is for this park... He asks if there is anything he can do for us? I dunno... So, I explain my annoyance. He opened his desk drawer and pulled out 3 FPs, good for that day only and any ride (except TSM). I thanked him profusely for rectifying the situation. :lovestruc I didn't write down his name, but I was very grateful.

We were on our way to lunch at 50's and we were starving!

So, did I ever ride ToT???? And which ride did we use our FPs on???

Link to Day 4 Part B

Fun update. RnRC is the only inversion ride I have ever done and will ever do. After we were done, I laughed hysterically for 5 minutes. Unfortunately for those on the ride with me, we were stuck waiting to unload when I started laughing and they probably thought I'd done lost my marbles.

Now TOT... never ever ever. I couldn't climb stairs to get to the 2nd floor of a mall last week. No way am I doing TOT.

Great updates.! I laughed reading about your crab leg expierence at Cape May because I swear their crab legs were defective. :rotfl: D~ I watched at least 3 or 4 videos on utube before our trip on how to eat crab legs and could not get the meat out to save life and finally gave up :rotfl2: DH had no clue either as neither one of us had ever ate them before. I do have to say we both enjoyed a good laugh trying

LOL... I can see where people would like the ride - and if it wasn't for the inversions - I would love it too.

LOL Excellent idea Sheila!!! Next time I will youtube it! Maybe that will help me? I did get some meat out - but for the most part, it went to waste. Part of my issue is that for the first round, I couldn't find the little forks - then when I went up for more clam chowder - I saw the forks, so I thought I would try more crab... The forks helped, but it was still a mess - and I was soooo self conscious with the people next to us.

Max is still doing pretty well with potty training. He went the entire day on Friday with out any accidents in the house. Yesterday, he had a couple - so we are still working on it. He is also starting to show some signs of aggression - and I am not sure what to do about it - since his breed doesn't have aggression issues normally. I did some reading about it online last night, and I think that part of it stems with how the girls and I play with him - not that we play with him badly - but the games we play (tug of war and similar) encourage him to "fight" per say. Pretty much - the games we played with Rufus aren't suitable to a puppy - yet. Anyways, another thing we do, that we probably shouldn't, is that when he gets into something, we just pick him up and move him - which is starting to initiate a flight instinct (how are we supposed to know all of this? Raising a puppy is like a crash course in child psycology), so when we want to take something away - it results in him running away with it - then it becomes a game of chase. It's so frustrating. He got a hold of something he wasn't supposed to have last night, so V picked him up and he started flailing and attacking her wildly - of course - I reached out and held his muzzle closed - and he bit me - broke skin and a bled a bit. I was quite pissed at him, actually - so I ignored him for the rest of the evening - which was probably closest to the right thing to do. I talked to Josh a bit about it last night, and we really need to have a family meeting about Max. We all need to be on the exact same page about how we handle situations - and none of that can be deviated from. So, we plan to do that today - as I won't have an aggressive dog - especially one that was created by us not raising him right... Who knew?

You know, the part I don't understand, is that we know that Rufus was abused as a puppy. We are not sure if it was by the owners of his mother, or if there was another owner in there that had him before our former next-door neighbors. The reason we know this, is that he had a fear of a lot of things, but most of all loud noises - last summer/fall, when we brought him into the vet, the vet xrayed him and discovered that he had 2 BBs in him - so he was shot - the vet suspected that they had been in there for years. I guess, what I am getting at - is even though Rufus was abused - he was an amazing dog...

I thought, when we got Max, that because we were good Rufus owners, that we would automatically be good dog owners, and maybe that's not the case? I just don't get it? I am totally committed to fixing what we may have unintentionally wrecked - but I just don't understand how we went wrong. Does that make sense?

Sorry about the boring puppy talk, and am just typing and trying to sort things out in my head.

Anyways - I didn't get into my sewing room at all yesterday. I did get lots of grocery shopping done - and a trip to the meat market - which emptied my wallet very quickly. But our upright freezer in the basement is full - and that's a good thing - we should have enough meat to get us through most of summer now.

Today - I must get into my sewing room, and spend a good portion of the day in there, or I will fall behind schedule - and that wouldn't be good. :rolleyes1

I do plan to update my TR here shortly though.

D~

When I left off, we were just headed to 50's Prime time for our lunch reservation.

We got there a little bit early, but the allowed us to check in anyways. When I checked us in - I requested a TV table & a "fun server" - as a side note, I was more specific to include that I would love to see my girls put in a corner. The CM checking us in "made note of that". Cool.

So, the girls and I waited. There was another guest who offered to take a picture of the girls and I... Yay!

IMG_3457.jpg

We waited quite a while - the whole time, I was taking pictures.

IMG_3455.jpg

IMG_3459.jpg

IMG_3464.jpg

We were seated after waiting about 10 or 15 minutes.

Our server was Elaine - who after introducing herself promptly informed us "We don't like it when people tell us what to do, then we don't want to do it." Um, OK. Duely noted - I guess. <--- She was referring to the request I had made when I checked in.

When Elaine came back, we ordered:
A: PB&J Malt, Fried Chicken & a Brownie Sundae for dessert
V: Lemonade, Sampler platter and a PB&J Malt for dessert
D: PB&J Malt, Sampler platter and a Smores for dessert

While we were waiting for our food, I took several photos of our table, and even one of the girls.
IMG_3467.jpg

I forgot to take pictures of our food.

The food was very good. Since V and I had the sampler platter, I honestly have to say that I liked everything. My least favorite was probably the meatloaf, and I only say that because I prefer my recipe better - and I even like the way V makes my recipe better than the way I make it. LOL Even though, I like my recipe better - it was still very good. The post roast - that was good too - again - I like mine better (I am really not that good of a cook), but theirs was good. I do have to say that I liked the chicken the best.

As previously noted, Elaine did nothing fun with us at all. She almost seemed to be making a point of it, by being excessively fun with the large table next to us. I was really irritated, but she seemed to take pleasure in being overly fun with them and doing nothing with us. Whatever, I made myself feel better by thinking "I'll write about Elaine on my TR."

I will add, even though Elaine did not act her part at all, she wasn't rude to us, and she was very nice. She even explained how to make the perfect PB&J Malt at home. She was just like any other waitress we could have had at any local restaurant. She did offer to take a picture of all of us at our table though.
IMG_3482.jpg

Then dessert was served...

I really shouldn't have ordered the Smores... I only did because so many people love it and I wanted to try it. Normally, I am not a huge marshmallow fan, so I really didn't like this at all.
IMG_3480.jpg

Now, Allison's Brownie Sundae was AMAZING (Cue heavenly music)... Now, that is what I should have ordered...
IMG_3479.jpg

And, of course, V's PB&J Malt... TDF, as well. Really, the main reason we came to 50's.
IMG_3477.jpg

Somtime during lunch, there was a family being seated at another table in our area. There was lots of hub-bub about their stroller, and the servers were kind of getting their undies in a ruffle about it. I just shrugged and went about not eating my dessert. As it turned out - the family had to move, and as they were moving - I noticed the LGMH the mom was sporting on her bag. Yay!! A Diser! So, big mouth me, I asked if she was a Diser, and she kind of looked at me funny - then she realized what I was saying and she pointed me to her DH. LOL So, I introduced myself to him, who happens to be Childatheart82... I wrote it down on a napkin, so I didn't forget. We chatted for a minute, and noticed that we had the same Toy Story Alien shirts. Then he had to move along with his family... It was great meeting him though. :woohoo: And I wouldn't mind if he chimed in here to tell his version of the stroller moving story - because I am nosy like that. :surfweb:

Of course - I discovered later in the evening - that I'd left the napkin with his Dis name behind - Doh!

Anyways... Here's a photo of the remainder of our desserts:
IMG_3484.jpg

As you can see... The smores pretty much went to waste. But when Allison announced that she couldn't eat any more of her Brownie Sundae - I happily offered to finish it for her.... I really had to restrain myself from licking the plate. :rolleyes1

We did leave lunch full, although a bit disappointed that we didn't get to enjoy the ultimate 50's experience.

When we walked out of 50's, it was sprinkling a little bit - but nothing we couldn't handle. We made our way to ToT to get another set of FP for later (I had a plan).
IMG_3508.jpg

The girls rode RnR with their earlier FPs - I chose to wait outside this time.
IMG_3487.jpg

Once the girls were finished with RnR - and I had offered to take several family photos for other families - we decided to head over to the Art of Disney Animation. At first the girls didn't quite understand what we were going to do at this boring place - but I assured them that I wouldn't disappoint, and they would love it. We had to wait for a while to be admitted - so we enjoyed the padded seating. Once we were admitted to the studio, we chose our seats and the artist chose his character - which V was excited about... It was Tink! She has been drawing pictures of Tink for a long time - so this was right up her alley. Here's how they all turned out...

The girls ROFLed at mine for quite a while after that. :confused3

The girls loved this experience -and begged to go again.

I am not sure what time it was when we finished - but I'd like to say it was about 1:30? We decided to walk over to TSM, just to see if there were any FPs left. When we got there, the return time was 8:05pm... We were going to get FPs, but just as we were going to put our tickets in, someone came up to us and offered theirs to us! Total Pixie Dust! :woohoo: The girls and I were "eternally grateful" and expressed our unending gratitude. Those ladies were headed to a different park, and decided to pass on the Dust the return time for their FPs was at 3:20. Awesome!

OK girls... change of plans.

We wandered around some of the shops back there and on to the Streets of America - making our way to Star Tours - to use our free FP from Guest Relations earlier in the day.

The entire way, they were complaining about how lame this ride was going to be... They complained all the way through the line.

*Side note: The gentleman in the far right of the photo, kept pointing at Allison's bag and commenting in their language... It didn't sound very nice, because they were laughing and pointing. Allison was very uncomfortable - because they were being really rude about it. I was actually getting uncomfortable too.

Once they rode ST - they were hooked! They wanted to go again - of course. I didn't record the standby line time in my journal - I wanted to say it was 45 min? But we decided not to wait.

We were off to find a cold snack, and we ended up with Strawberry Slushies at a little shop.

We stopped and watched a show going on in the Streets of America... making our way back to TSM.

We were still a bit early for our FP return.

We decided to wait for the meet n' greet with Woody & Buzz - which opened back up at 3pm... It was really hot out, so the girls sat next to me in the shade, just outside the que line.
