Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

Yay for a good vet visit....sounds like MM is going to be a big boy :thumbsup2 yes we need a renactment photo of Josh in his lilac hat :lmao:

happy you are getting so many orders for your beautiful bags! hope you can get your new machine soon, sounds like you will put it to good use!

as far as our trip to NC....still not set dates....but looking to be there the weekend of 8/11...now that Lisa is out of the hospital, hope we can get it planned and set so we all can start looking at airfair! really hope you will be able to come down D!

If you go looking for embroidery machines on Amazon, they'll send you emails periodically with things that are currently available. I got an email this morning with this deal.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002RJR5BE/ref=pe_56820_23269660_pe_vfe_dt7

I don't know if it's a good deal, but I'm sure some of your co-trip report peoples will know :goodvibes

There were actually several listed, but this one looked interesting to me. Not that I'm gonna buy one, but I do like to look :rolleyes1

NOT a good deal...I got mine through HSN and regular price there is 799.00 and you can get payments... although right now they are out of stock...but I will keep looking. And Ken's in AL has them for around 630....I haven't looked for a while... (which is what I paid for my second one through HSN....on sale and special goodies...cause they love my money so much!)

I was definitely able to save quite a bit buying most of my supplies at Long Creek Mills (and they do ship, because I asked) - their thread is fabulous and so is their stabilizer and prewound bobbins. They have a very nice (and solid, not cheapie plastic like my one from JoAnnns) spool stand for $6.95. They sell their premium embroidery thread for $2.25 per 1000m spool. The large spools I'm not sure of their cost.

I'd say to get all the supplies I have I probably spent $150? I do still need to buy new embroidery scissors - I messed the tip of mine up and they dont work as well now :-(

Oh and don't buy too much thread before testing on you machine because you may get a finicky one that only likes Rayon and not poly :rolleyes1

I am home working on buzz since we had no heat at work again.:confused3

Mostly, I had been packed for weeks.

All along, I had planned and budgeted for 2 checked bags. At the last minute, I added a 3rd checked bag, because our suitcases were just too full. I am so glad I did this, as we really needed the space on the way home.

D~

I have snuck in and have been reading your trip report! It is awesome! I love that you have all the pictures.

I really love love love the messanger bags in the above picture. I am pretty sure you made them. I am looking for something exactly like this for our trip to WDW in November. I want something I can hook to the stroller. Do you sell them by any chance??? If not could you tell me where you got the bag itself?

Thank you - - I am interested in reading the rest of your TR.

:cool1: I love my PE770. I actually got mine from Wally World http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=pe770&ic=16_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=0 with $.97 shipping:lmao:

I prewind all my bobbins myself and use the Pancetta (sp) thread but I really love my Florani thread which tends to be a little pricier. And I use Cutaway on all my shirts.

Also if you want to buy different size hoops that runs about $100

I really think you should just fly to RI this summer and then drive back to NC with me. You can fly home from NC. That way you can have doughboys with Michelle & I (and go to the fabulous Just Fabrics and get to visit the beautiful state of Rhode Island) and the you can be in NC for the DIS meet here:-)

:thumbsup2 ITA :lmao:

Thank you ladies for all the information.

Chiara - I am not sure if I will go the digitizing route yet. If I do - and that's a big if - I would never sell the images I digitize, because I would want them to be exclusive to my bags - does that make sense?

Nini- surprisingly, my bags are light weight, but I am not sure if they are lightweight enough for you???

Sooo - I need lots of prewound bobbins? I will have to get all new embroidery thread - because I have hand embroidery floss, and all of my applique is done with regular Gutermann poly thread. I will need quite a few scissors - do you have photos of your favoriites (or links to them)...

Nini- I know you stalk HSN, if you ever see a deal on the 770 - will you let me know?

I wish I had the time to participate in the launch... I am so booked solid - I don't know when I'll have the time to do much else? Such a bummer, because that is something I really wanted to look into when I got back.

D~
You do not need prewound bobbins -- you can wind your own. When you get your machine it will come with bobbin thread and 4 bobbin spools for winding. I wind mine on my sewing machine rather than on the embroidery machine b/c it's easier for me. You can buy extra plastic bobbin thingies at Walmart for dirt cheap and then just wind your own. I have no idea what a cost comparison is for prewound vs. winding your own -- the prewound may be just as cheap.

I bought two scissors 1) an expensive Gingher applique scissors from Joann's -- use a coupon. I can't remember if it's $25 originally or if that's what it is with the coupon 2) A manicure scissors from Target (you can use your employee discount for that one!).

I bought a starter thread pack from Marathonthread.com and then a few supplemental colors. I also got there tear away stabilizer.

For cut away I only use Floriani which I have to buy at sew-vac -- it's a little pricier but not that bad and it's well worth it for clothing b/c it really softens. For bags you don't have to worry about it softening after washing.

I contemplated buying a hoop set so I wouldn't have to use as much stabilizer for 4x4 designs, but it wasn't worth the price. I don't do small things like onsies so it's been fine for me. I just didn't want to spend an extra $100.

Of course you also need to buy designs -- I have no idea how much I have spent on designs -- let's just say I know it's too much and I didn't account for that when I gave you a price earlier.

You will be much happier with embroidery thread -- it has a pretty sheen to it. I bought some gutterman once to hand applique and I think it ended up in the garbage. I'm glad it works for you but it was the worst thread I have ever encountered!

.

Mine was the same price on Amazon only they have free shipping :) I'm 97¢ richer than you are (and Cheryl will be proud of me for remembering the ¢).

Michelle -
this summer you have to show me how to organize my embroidery design files :)

So - I'm back on my laptop! Turns out my battery was dying and expanding and was pushing UP on the clicker part of my track pad . . .remove the battery and voila! laptop loves me again! :lovestruc :wizard:

Now I'm off to check in on all my subbed threads and then eat dinner and then hopefully get Phalen's Easter Peeps shirt done :) Carrie at VTU was super nice (and super quick!) when I emailed her about the satin stitch not being thick enough to cover the edges of the applique. She thickened the satin stitch so hopefully Phalen's shirt won't look quite as "fuzzy bunny" as Finn's does.

Anyone want to talk to me about digitizing software that is MAC friendly? I have a feeling I can justify a purchase if its not TOO insane if I'm able to digitize my Dad's company logos, etc. and do his shirts for him.

Question for Andrea (and maybe others) - do you find your Gingher scissors hard to use? I have a pair of the applique scissors and the embroidery scissors and I never use either pair because they seem so stiff to me and hurt my hands.

I do use my Friskar curved embroidery scissors to cut my appliques, per lots of recommendations on the disboutique thread.

http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-98087897-Curved-Craft-Scissors/dp/B000B7OSS2

:rotfl2: Yes she would be and think what you can do with that 97¢
Hey, it's .03% of a mortgage payment on the RI house! I feel so rich -- NOT!

Digitizing software is expensive -- post on Disbout b/c some people there have done some free trials of things and may be able to let you know if it would work for what you want.

I put all my designs on pinterest -- it's not great organization, but it at least lets me see thumbnails. Otherwise I rename things what I want them called and then have them alphabetical.

Question for Andrea (and maybe others) - do you find your Gingher scissors hard to use? I have a pair of the applique scissors and the embroidery scissors and I never use either pair because they seem so stiff to me and hurt my hands.

My Gingher scissors are great -- I have never had a problem with them. I use them for all my appliques. I use the manicure scissors for cutting jump stitches or getting into tiny places that I can't with the applique scissors. Between the two the job gets done!

I bought stablilizer, thread, scisssors, spray adhesive, embroidery patterns and extra material (:lmao:). I found some thread locally on sale and bought a few large spools to do testing with. It is expensive at $13 per large spool, but is beautiful to use. I bought a small amount of a variety of stabilizers at the local Lens Mill for testing purposes and I am still going through that. I bought a 40 small spool, mixed colour kit from Threadart (better price even after having it shipped to Canada). Not sure if I would order again as some colours tend to fray badly and I have to watch the machine really closely. I think I spent around $130 on the extras.

I also bought Embird as I have to digitize several logos for DH, BIL and our racing group. That was outside of the cost above as not everyone needs to purchase it.

THanks for the list Loree!

Good update! I know something else DH & I forgot to do, we had said we were going to try sushi.

Love all the picks of of the girls. I meant to do the pick a pearl and somehow never got around to that either. I should have met up with you guys in Epcot.

Were you there that day Sheila??? YOu know we would have loved to meet you!

I missed some update, sorry!

I'm so happy you all got to meet up at Epcot! Looks like you had a great time together.

Liddy, your dd has grown so much since last year. It's not quite a year, is it?

We haven't eaten in Japan for years. That icecream looks and sounds good. Maybe my next TR will be a food report of snacking around the world for a year?

I'm too chicken to try sushi. I'm proud you all were brave and gave it a go.

It's a good thing you were able to coordinate your fast passes.

We did have a good time - we wish you could have been there too! At least we got to meet you later in the trip.

You should do a food TR!

I don't think that will happen - LOL. I was laughing so hard as I was driving - I couldn't see through my tears.

happy you are getting so many orders for your beautiful bags! hope you can get your new machine soon, sounds like you will put it to good use!

Hopefully... Josh said I have to put $x towards our monthly budget - so there will be very little of my sewing $$ left to go towards a new machine or other fun things. It's going to take me a very long time to save.

OK - I love this detailed list! Thank you so much Andrea!

Yes.... DH almost had a heart attack when he saw how many designs I have

I am a bit nervous about this too... How do you all organize them? DO you also organize them on your thumb drive? And did you have to format your thumb drive to work with your machine?

Mine was the same price on Amazon only they have free shipping :) I'm 97¢ richer than you are (and Cheryl will be proud of me for remembering the ¢).

:rotfl2: Yes she would be and think what you can do with that 97¢

Actually, I know what Andrea did with that 97¢ - and it was a total waste, if you ask me.

Michelle -

I just asked about this above. :)

So - I'm back on my laptop! Turns out my battery was dying and expanding and was pushing UP on the clicker part of my track pad . . .remove the battery and voila! laptop loves me again! :lovestruc

Glad you're back on your laptop... Ummm that's not good about your battery though... I would seriously have that checked out.

Glad that you were able to get it all figured out. Please let us know how it turned out.

Anyone want to talk to me about digitizing software that is MAC friendly? I have a feeling I can justify a purchase if its not TOO insane if I'm able to digitize my Dad's company logos, etc. and do his shirts for him.

I know nothing - except everyone says that Embird (or is it Embrid?) is the best, so someday, if I ever invest - it will be that.

I have heard that about the Gingher embroidery scissors. I have a small set of Gingher sewing scissors that I have next to my machine to clip threads. But V has a set of Singer sewing scissors that has a really nice point on them, and I use them quite a bit - Not sure why I like them better - but that point is really nice.

I have a long day of sewing planned. I have been putting in extra hours at night, so that I can finish up this bag and move on to my next project.

MM is doing well - he is still having a few accidents in the house. But for the most part he is going outside. That makes momma happy. I do wish we could get him to stop biting so much. I know that he needs to chew on things, but our fingers/toes/legs/arms/faces are not acceptable places to chew and puncture. We replace those items with nylabones, but he doesn't seem to get it. I need reasearch on how to get him to stop. He has grown so much over the last few days... HOnestly, I think he has gotten about 6" taller and 6" longer since we got home.

I've been working on our Photopass pictures too, and I am up to 1967... I have 3 photos left to edit. However, I don't plan to submit it yet, because I am waiting to hear back from photopass. I emailed them to ask if they can find the last 2 (or more) of our photos from our special day in AK. Then, in a seperate email, I asked them when they are going to get rid of their Christmas and 2011 borders and put some spring borders in there? Hopefully they will get the hint - as it's waaaay past the holiday editing time... Unless you buy months worth of extensions??? So, as soon as I hear back from them, I will decide if I will wait a few extra days for borders or not.

I plan to do a trip update this morning and finish our Epcot day.

Oh, and then I have more embroidery machine questions... more specific ones today. LOL

OK - so if you were to purchase a new machine... theoretically - which of these would you choose and why? Basically, they are all the same machine with different accessory sets - if you choose not to get one with accessories - where would you get the accessories from? Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! :lovestruc

Machine A: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-PE770...I2NM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333018597&sr=8-1

Machine B: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Embro...D89M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1333018597&sr=8-6

Machine C: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Embro...R5BE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1333018597&sr=8-3

OK... Off to go locate MM for a potty break, then coming back to do a final Epcot update.

Tink, it will be a year in May. She has grown so much! :scared:

I'd love for you to do a food TR! :goodvibes

And if you want to consider sushi, try CA rolls. They're fully cooked (no raw meat). It's usually imitation crab meat (sometimes actual crab meat) and some veggies (usually cucumbers, carrots, and/or avocado). SOmetimes it's wrapped in seaweed, sometimes not.

When I last left off, the girls and I were making our way around WS to land at The Beach Club for our early dinner ADR at Cape May Buffet.

The dork that I am, I didn't take any pictures at all until we got to BC - which doesn't make any sense to me - because there are several that I remember taking - I wonder what hapened to them? :confused3 It's driving me crazy, because I know I took pictures - and I've been through all my files. Grrr.... Ok - I must move on.

We were headed to the BC about an hour earlier than our ADR time, but we were so tired, that we thought we'd try and get in early and head back to the resort to relax before our Dismeet tonight.

When we arrived at the BC - I had to get a picture of the girls - it is a gorgeous resort that we will probably never stay at.

IMG_3424.jpg

When we got to Cape May Buffet, they were just starting to accept registrations, so we told them we were there a bit early, and they let us grab a beeper and wait to be seated. :wizard:

The view from where we chose to sit - it was very nice and cozy:
IMG_3426.jpg

We found a nice couch to be lazy on - it probably wasn't appropriate - but we chilled - V took a little cat nap.
IMG_3427.jpg

We were seated after only waiting about 10 minutes. The person who seated us was very nice, and told us where everything in the buffet was located. We had a nice seat, with a sand castle right next to it.
IMG_3428.jpg

Now, I didn't take any pictures of the buffet or the food. I was feeling really self conscious, because there was a family sitting next to us that was really stuffy and dressed very nicely - and they kept shooting looks at our table. There was nothing odd about us - except that we were Disneyfied. It's not as if we were being loud and obnoxious, or throwing our food, chewing with our mouths open... :confused3 We were just talking nicely and enjoying our meal.

Our favorite food, by far, at this buffet was the clam chowder. It was very tasty - perfectly seasoned, and not so creamy and thick that it over powered the taste. I know that the girls and I had way more of this than necessary.

Victoria love the strawberry chesse cake - I think she had more of those than anything else?

And I really liked the pasta salad - I don't remember the name of it, it could have been the Citrus Couscous Salad or the Chicken Arugula Pasta Salad with Mushroom Vinaigrette - I can't remember now. All I said in my journal is that I really liked it, but I didn't say what it was.

***** I will also say, as a very important side note, if you come from an area that doesn't serve a lot of sea food (like the middle states), I highly recommend that you get some crab cracking lessons before you get there. This might have been the reason that the family next to us was giving us such awful looks. I am probably the WORST crab cracker that there ever was. So much so, that whenever I go out to eat crab, either DH or my BFF is with me, and they have to get all my meat out for me. There was crab shells and butter flying everywhere from our table - and I LOVE crab - so I was determined to have me some. I finally had to give up, because it was a worthless cause. Note to self... Next time - perfect my crab cracking skills before I go to a seafood buffet. :rolleyes1

So, we finished up our dinner, and left the resort, stuffed as usual.

We decided to walk down the pier and take the friendship boat to DHS. This was a gorgeous ride, and we got to see a lot of the boardwalk area resorts. I wish we could have spent more time here, because it was just beautiful.

IMG_3429.jpg

IMG_3430.jpg

We unloaded at DHS, and then walked to our resort bus.

When we arrived back at our room - our mousekeeper had gone above and beyond... Not only had she left us with a sweet mousekeeping towel animal:
IMG_3431.jpg

She also left us with a nice toothbrush holder - since ours were just laying haphazardly on our bathroom counter... This was so nice of her - we continued to use it all week!
IMG_3432.jpg

Allison had also left her backpack open and a pile of clothes around it - the mouskeeper was nice enough to put all of her clothes back in it.

She also took the time to organize our shoes! We loved our mousekeeper! :lovestruc

After we returned to POFQ, the movie courtyard was right outside our room, to the girls went down to watch Stitch, while I relaxed in the room and updated my trip journal.

Our Dismeet was scheduled at 9pm at POR.

Corri met us at our room and we all walked over together.

It was a gorgeous walk along the river.

IMG_3433.jpg

Funny story: As we were walking along - Allison decided she wanted to go for a jog (ack - after all that walking today??? I can't even move, and she wanted to jog - whatever)... so she removed her flip flops and starting jogging ahead of us. She was just going around a corner about 100 ft. in front of us, when she let out a squeel - made a U turn and started an all out RUN back to us... a few seconds later, around the corner behind her came a horse drawn carriage. :rotfl2: I can only imagine running along a river at night, rounding a corner, looking eye to eye with that horse. ROFL We all laughed soooo hard. And it's not as if she has never seen a horse - she's been riding her whole life. LOL

Anyways, we arrived at POR, and sat in the lobby waiting for everyone else to get there. We called Liddy - and she was on her way, just pulling into the parking lot. Kouga and Akki were even there.

So, we were all sitting there in the lobby, someone texted Oopsi - and she poked her head out of Yee-Haw Bob's (where we were supposed to meet - but it was so loud in there).

Everyone introduced themselves and their families... We got to hear Oopsi's reveal video story from that morning and her Squirrel story - the kids played for a while. We all decided we were soooo tired, so we took a picture.

Front: Oopsi Back L to R: Liddy, D~ & Corri
IMG_3434.jpg

Everyone said good-bye to Liddy and her family, because they were leaving for home the next morning. My girls were especially sad to see her kids leave - they wished they had much more time together.

Corri and I walked back to POFQ, she dropped us off at our room. The girls and I fell asleep before we hit our door - we think - we were all so tired! We were only on Day 2 - we still had 8 more park days left... I dunno how we are going to make it. :confused3

Still loving the updates! My kids were so sad to leave. They feel in love with your girls!

It was so great to meet everyone at the DISmeet!

I don't like crab, so when the kids have it, I just do what I can to get the meat out for them. :lmao: DH can work with crab nicely ... but I can do it quicker (and messier). Maybe DH can give you lessons in exchange for your girls coming to visit. :rotfl2:

About the missing pictures.... I've not had this happen on the Canon yet, but I know sometimes when I'd import pictures from my Sony, not 100% of them would come over. I'm not sure if it's a card issue or a computer issue. It's rare, but sometimes it has happened. Did you delete the pics of your memory card? You may want to browse through it and see if they're there.

Oh, and then I have more embroidery machine questions... more specific ones today. LOL

OK - so if you were to purchase a new machine... theoretically - which of these would you choose and why? Basically, they are all the same machine with different accessory sets - if you choose not to get one with accessories - where would you get the accessories from? Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! :lovestruc

Machine A: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-PE770...I2NM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333018597&sr=8-1

Machine B: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Embro...D89M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1333018597&sr=8-6

Machine C: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Embro...R5BE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1333018597&sr=8-3

OK... Off to go locate MM for a potty break, then coming back to do a final Epcot update.

The best toys we got for chewing issues were from Target. It's a big blue bone -- my dogs were able to bite pieces off of it so you do have to be careful as it's probably not meant to be edible, but it sure beat them eating pieces of my furniture!

This is the bone:

You can see it gets some bad reviews because pieces do break off, but I would give it 4-5 stars. Then again, I have small dogs.

And I have to post this because without a doubt it's Penny's favorite toy -- we only have the butterfly, but we have two of them as she loves it soooooo much:

I also bought this for chewing and the dogs never touch it:

Thankfully we are past the chewing stage, unless of course a dog breaks into dd's room and finds Praline the cat :sad2:

For the machines post on Disbout -- I would not pick machine #3 though -- chances are you will rarely use the designs they supply you with. In deciding b/t one and two decide what you want. Is an extra hoop set important to you? Add up the prices of what you can buy vs. what they supply. I think you would be happiest with the basic (#1) and just buy other things if you need them. It's impossible though for me to compare as I only have the basic.

Yeah, right, we believe you

Allison had also left her backpack open and a pile of clothes around it - the mouskeeper was nice enough to put all of her clothes back in it.

She also took the time to organize our shoes! We loved our mousekeeper! :lovestruc
Very cool mousekeeper!!!

Great photo!

I use my curved scissors all the time. I hate my gingher scissors. They hurt my hand to use them LOL.

I would go with the basic machine, I would then purchase an extra 5 x7 and one 4 x 4 hoop (those are the hoops I use most often and I like to hoop another shirt at times while the other is stitching I feel more productive that way :confused3) I would then by my supplies extra. I like Marathon because you can buy a package and then substitute colors to add up to the number of spools in the package. They are really great to work with.

I know others have bought embroidery thread from threadart.com but I haven't though I did buy some regular thread from them that I will give a review on.

Love your update :)
