Hello Friends !!!!! Just a few questions I hope can be answered. presently I am waiting on my ROFR from Disney to see if I am ok for my property and came up with a few questions:worship:
1. What does it mean if your points are in a "hold satus" ? :cool1:
2. Can you book multiple vacations at once within your "use year" ?:confused3. If you book multiple vacations in your use year do you keep the same ID card and do you get a new id card every year?Im pretty sure the answer is yes on the first but would love verification.
4. If my approx. closing month is in July what are my chances of booking a 3 day Bahamian cruise on Sept. 3 (I see there is a site for questions like this on a different forum but i will post it here and there, please be patient with me since I am a dis. boards rookie and trying to navigate through here with the skill all of you veterans already have:confused:)
5. Can people share a few experiences with me since being a DVC member, the good, the bad and the ugly(hopefully there will be none of the last two:banana:)
Thank you in advance:hug:

1. Happens if you cancel a trip 30 days or less before date of arrival. Points go into holding account, must be used before end of use year or they are lost, and can only be used by reserving 60 days or less from date of arrival (which is often very difficult to do).

2. You can make as many reservations as you want when you call as long as all are within reservation window (11 months out at home resort, 7 at others). One ID number which does not change. Replace cards only if needed (e.g., they crack).

3. Don't know chances.

4. Examples of: Good -- we always get 2BR as we are extremely space conscious and getting that right on site is ideal; bad -- you do pay annual dues and they do tend to go up annually (not bad so much as you must be aware of it); ugly--management is far too often doing something extremely stupid (acting like despicable MBA "suits" without a conscience), example is when they sold BLT under one point chart, then raised add-on limit to 100 for BLT, and a week later announced a shifting of points, raising weekday and lowering weekend, which meant a lot of BLT purchasers would not have enough points for planned weekday trips and thay hadn't even been allowed to stay at the resort yet.

We love our DVC, we are going back to Disney for the second time this year, and are currently finalizing our first trip to Disney for Christmas at the end of this year. Welcome Home :goodvibes

What is your use year month. You can not book a cruise (or any non-DVC venue) if you are within 4 months of the end of your use year.

For instance, if you have an October use year, you would need to call by May 31 to book any non-DVC trip you want to take before Oct 1. Look at the banking chart below, the banking deadline dates shown for a use year is also the last day that you can call to book a non-DVC vacation for that current use year. You may travel during the last 4 months, but the reservation has to have been made prior to the deadline.

The points that are part of your contract that are in "holding" must be used by the end of your current UY. They can only be booked for last minute trips (60 days are less) and can not be used for stays through the Disney Collection or Disneyland if your travel will fall within the last 4 months of your UY.

You can book as many trips as you want with the points that you have. You can increase the number of points you have in any one UY by banking and borrowing. For example, if you own a 100 point contract, you could end up with 300 points to use one year (of course, then you would have nothing for a few years).

You will always have one member #, and any points you add on in the future that carry the same UY (and are titled the same way) will just go on to this same member #. You would then be able to pool the points of those contracts at 11 months (if they are all the same resort) or at 7 months (if they are different resorts.

Most will tell you that using your points for trading out is not the best option. While I have never used RCI to trade (am a fairly new member), I have heard that getting last minute trips is not that easy. Many members end up just trying to rent their DVC points (there is a whole thread about this) and then pay for their other trips.

Good luck and here is pixie dust hoping you pass ROFR!!! pixiedust:

Thank you friends for the useful info, it will help.:rotfl2: Especially thanks to Chuck S., i didnt know that you had to bank by four months before the end of your use year and you cannot book a Non DVC trip 4 months before the end of my use year.pirate: That chart comes in handy. And good guess on your example, my use month will be October!:dance3:
