Several questions about 40% off DL hotel offer

OK: so I see that DL is offering a great deal -- 30 - 40% off hotels if you book two nights or more at DLH, GCH or PP between May 1 and Sept. 29. If we do this, it'll probably be around Sept. 20 or thereabouts.

My questions:

When is the Haunted Mansion refurb typically completed? It was closed when we went mid Sept last year. I don't want to miss it on this trip.

I've stayed at the GCH but want to try DL Hotel. How does it compare with Paradise Pier in terms of quality and location? In short, which do you all recommend?

They say "Enjoy 35% off standard room rates starting at $169/night." Does that mean that the bottom line is $169 before or after the discount?

ROA and Matterhorn were closed when I was there mid Feb. Presumably these will be up and running once again?

Does anyone know of any large refurbs that might intrude on the fun?

BTW, BTM is one of my favs. Anyone know of any impending closures?

Thanks in advance!

Rob

Last year Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain were both down to prepare for the Halloween overlays. They opened with the Nightmare Before Christmas and Ghost Galaxy themes on Sept 25th. There are rumors of Star Tours going down for a major rehaul but I don't know when exactly that is scheduled to happen -- after summer would be an ideal time for Disney to take it down.

If DLR follows its patterns of the last couple of years - and it is always subject to change - then the official start date of Halloweentime, and, therefore, the opening of Haunted Mansion Holiday, should be Friday, September 24th. So I am guessing that if you go on 9/20, HM/HMH will still be closed, unless they are doing soft openings in the days leading up to 9/24, but that's not a guarantee at all. And the same thing would apply for Space Mountain - if they opt to do Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy again this year, then it would be closed on 9/20 when you are there, with an opening date of 9/24.

Then again, this is only how it has worked date-wise for the last 2 years. In 2007, Halloweentime actually started a week earlier than it started in 2008 or 2009, so you never know how DLR may switch things up!!

Thanks guys. When does HM usually close for refurb? I wonder if I should go before it closes.

hydro guy has a stickie at the top. I think there is something about closures.

Is this a better deal than the "getaway today" rate? If so, I need to re-do my reservation and get a refund. Nevermind, it's the exact same rate. I just checked.

Rob,

I just wanted to thank you for posting this message. Although I has seen the info it didn't click until I read this post that the discount might apply to me.

I checked, it does, and I just saved almost $200.

So, :thanks:!!!!

Kristen

P.S. The $169 is the discounted rate (plus tax).

Awesome, Kristen! So glad that it was helpful for you. I plan to go sometime soon. I'd like to go for at least three days (thereby getting two additional days free). I've only ever gone for two days at a time. Three or four would be great. Now if I can just talk my mom into it... ;-).
