Several members asked about the Golf schedule...

I have read several posts on the DVC board recently about the Golf tournament and planning vacations around the tournament. I did a search for the 2003 dates and came up with 10/23-10/26. Just thought I would share in case anyone was interested. Erin

I'm curious where you found that information. I contacted the PGA and they informed me that although Disney has a new corporate sponsor for 2003 the dates have not yet been set. Said all dates are established at the 2003 Tour meeting to be held later this month.

However, I just picked up my 2003 copy of Birnbaum's Walt Disney World. Page 205 states the the WDW Golf Classic is scheduled for October 17 - 20, 2003.

But on page 10, the dates are listed as October 16 - 19, 2003. Those dates are more closely in line with previous year's event.

We may have to wait a few weeks to know for sure!

The PGA Tour has not finalized next year's schedule as two new fall stops will be added - one new and one a replacement for a current event. The new event will be held over Labor Day weekend at the new TPC course just south of Boston in Mansfield, MA. The net effect may be to push the Disney Classic back a week. The PGA expects to have the tour finalized and announced by December 1.

Sorry, didn't mean to pass bad info. When I did a search the other day it came up at FAN Home I think. Now I get nothing. I too thought the 2003 dates were later than usual, but I was just trying to find out so I could make my ressie 11 months out and be able to avoid the golf tournament. Wish we could find out for sure. Let me know if you hear anything. Thanks, Erin

So how bad do the crowds get during this time period? Are the parks that crowded if people are watching the tournament?

We have been to WDW during the tournament and found WDW not to be not terribly busy. The weather is not real hot but still very pleasant. The tournament and courses have a veiwer frendly layout making this one of the good ones. A number of the tours big guns live in Orlando making this a very popular tourney for late year.

Thanks so much. I ended up making my res. for Oct 12-18th, over Columbus Day, but maybe since the golf tournament will be the next week, crowds won't be so bad. Thanks for hunting down the info. Erin

For all the golf fans out there, all 2003 PGA tour events are now posted on the official PGA site.

Can't wait to make reservations for the 2003 WDW golf classic!

Thanks for the updates on the golf tournament. DH and I were there this year and I might be able to talk him into a return trip next year! Good to have the info.
