Brandi, I'll be at OKW from 12/6-12/11. Thanks :)

So is your electricity back?

I have added you! Congrats on the trip! Jealous....

Yes, the power came back on Late yesterday! I have spent most of the day today cleaning out the two fridges and one freezer...

....ABSOLUTELY! If you can stand to lose a day at a park, by all means, take advantage of all AKL has to offer. Besides, it'll help you get your 'second wind', especially if you do the parks 'commando style'!

My only concern is if the activities kid friendly? I am worried that the weather in January might limit our pool time so I am hoping the resort activities will hold the kids attention. We do have AP but I would like to make a day at the resort to avoid using the buses with a double stroller. If anyone could please post an updated resort acitivities schedule or let me know if eveything has stayed the same from the September 2011 schedule, I would appreciate it. We will be at AKV Kidani on January 10-12, 2013.

I would say that 90% of the activities are geared for the kids...

Hi Everyone!

I am officially staying at AKL August 19-25th!! Today is our last day to cancel without penalty so its truly official now. :)

This will be my FIRST trip to Disney and DH's 2nd trip to Disney but 1st time staying on site. We are both very excited!

:dance3:

I look forward to learning more about AKL on this thread!

Questions: Do the fridges at AKL have freezers in them in the standard rooms? Just wondering if its gonna be possible to freeze waters the night before. Thanks!!!

Also do any of the handicap accessible rooms have a partial view with standard? I was going to ask to see if they had any partial views but we requested an accessible room because DH is going to have a ECV and the pulls do help him (he has arthritis). Thanks!

I don't recall the mini fridges having a freezer compartment sorry. Standard view rooms will face the front of the resort.

MY ADR window opens up on July 9th, do you think I should make some other dinning arrangements for somewhere outside of ARL for a Friday in January or do you think we are good to plan for a whole day at ARL for the kids with activities and the pool? Any advice is welcome since EMH aren't posted for January 2013 I feel at a loss for planning purposes.

Morning J's & K's - hope everyone is well and that ALL of you without AC have it back!!!! Hope the 4th was wonderful for you all!!!! We had a great time on our trip - caught a lot of fish - relaxed - ate smores - just enjoyed being without phones, computers, etc...... it was nice!!! :)

Here is the latest list of everyone visiting in 2012.

Most all of the activities are geared towards the kids and generally I think they stay the same as the schedule you posted above. BUT, when you check - in, right near the desk there will be an activities board - it will list ALL the activities at Jambo AND Kidani - you ARE able to use the ammenities at either resort - (unless for example the pool is filled to capacity - then they MAY limit it to whichever resort you are in). As for Jan. weather and using the pool, typically, it isn't an issue - we've only had 1 visit where we couldn't swim in Jan./ Feb. - also, just an fyi - the pools are heated.

Thanks, I am getting very excited to spend a full day at AKL during our stay at Kidani in January.

What restaurants would you pick at AKL for breakfast, lunch and dinner and why?

First Disney Trip!!! Congratulations :)

I don't think the freezers are big enough to put water bottles in.

Boma - Breakfast Buffet, something for everyone and very convenient
Mara - lunch, counter service, easy quick and right by the pool.
Sanaa - Dinner, staff amazing, food wonderful and atmosphere is very family friendly
Jiko - Dinner, staff and food are above everything, not so much geared for kids.

You're Welcome - you are going to have a wonderful time - the resort is beautiful, make sure to explore the grounds, view the animals, there is a culinary tour at Jambo house, cookie decorating, pool activities (my ds built a birdhouse once) medallion rubbing, etc... etc... at night there is the zawadi primal parade - then, over at Kidani don't miss community hall - fun things to do in there - there is def. plenty to fill up a whole day - also, don't forget to relax!!!! and the storytelling by the firepit at night is also cool!!!! :)

Breakfast - Boma - very good buffet - Mara if you want something quick.
Lunch - Mara - a big variety of things, location to pool
Dinner - Sanaa - our FAV!!! wonderful dishes - look out onto the savanna - see all the animals!!

Agree with everything Brandi said!!! :) --- although, we've never eaten at Jiko - I've ONLY EVER heard wonderful things about it!!! :)

I would do breakfast at Boma because it was beyond fabulous. And dinner at Jiko because it is an experience not to be missed. Lunch can be done at the Mara or Sanaa. Sanaa is a sit down restaurant, you can sit by the windows and watch the animals. The Mara is much more relaxed, you walk up and order and can sit out by the pool. But, after a breakfast at Boma I'd be shocked if you had room for lunch in a few hours. You can also do breakfast at the Mara which is the same set up as lunch.

I started posting and then got distracted and in the mean time you already got excellent advice.

Thank you for all the recommendations. I had Sanaa on the list but now I am definatley making those reservations. Is Boma any different for breakfast compare to the Tusker House? I was even thinking of room service for breakfast?

What are the bead activities on the schedule? Sounds like something the kids can collect. I can't wait to so all the activities.
