First of all, I am sorry you are having to deal with this Brandi, and especially David for being slapped in the face.

I do think that most companies do not value time in anymore. They would rather hire people cheaper who are younger so they can push them around and enjoy hobbling by at 50% efficiency if it helps the bottom line. I don't know when this will stop, but there ARE still some good companies out there and I hope he is able to find a better job at one of them soon. I lost my job after 5 years in last July, but am now working a job that is much better, more low key and better paying at a place i love. It could end up being the best thing that ever happens to you both, and I hope that is the case!
...well said - I can't help but think about the beginning of the nightmare flowwing the passing of my M-in-L this time last year [Good Friday] and the torment and upheaval, known as the 'disparaging duo', known to some as my DH's EX brother and sister...

I found out last week while I was away on travel that my DH David was being laid off from his job. He has worked for this company for 19 years. The only job he has had beside being in the Army.

He is a disabled veteran who fought in two different wars and this is how he is treated by the company he has stood by for 19 years.

I am heartsick, and he is heart broken. He has done so much for the people who work for him, stood up for them when the company wanted them fired, he has gone before the customer to plead people's cases for them, he has given way too much of his time to fix all the problems and create a well functioning team. He has taken pressure off his boss above him by doing more than is required for his position and the guy just told him "hey we can't keep you on, you are gone by the end of the month". That was it, no explanation, nothing... just we got to let you go.

I think my David deserves more than that.

Am I being biased b/c he is my DH, or do companies these days just not care about people anymore?

David is just so upset right now, he has made himself sick. He can't eat, he can't sleep. He mind can not stop thinking of all the wrongs.

anyway, thanks for letting me spill the beans here...

Brandi, I'm so sorry to hear about David. I can't imagine what you and David are going throught right now. Prayers for David for better things soon.

I am so sorry to hear this! No, you are not being biased. Companies do not care about how hard you work or how dedicated you are anymore. It will be difficult for David since he was so dedicated to deal with this, but it is not personal, they only care about the bottom line-money!

My husband was let go from his job in August. It does make you change your lifestyle, but things can work once you can move past the feelings of betrayal.

Brandi I am so so sorry. I can't imagine how David is feeling, and agree with you totally about most companies not caring anymore. It is so heartbreaking. lots of hugs and prayers being sent your way.

Thanks for telling me your story. I am so glad that your situation worked out so well... It really does help to hear it. He is just not him self right now.

Brandi, I am so sorry to hear about David. It trully is unfortunate that they do not appreciate what he has done for them. I hope this will all work out and just be a minor bump in the road.

...'cause I'm leaving for the World tonight!

Happy Friday and weekend, Kidanites and Jamborinis!

Thank you for the support you have shown...

David and I had a heart to heart last night and I told that as long as WE (he and I) were ok that we could tackle anything, that we can be as strong as anyone as long as we are doing this together. I think he finally understood that he was not alone.

We have been flooding the market with his resume and I am hoping to hear something soon. But either way we will get through this. Thanks again for being so supportive and helping us.

As a team, there's nothing you 2 can't do!! :thumbsup2 Stay strong, my friend and give David BIG hugs from all the Js & Ks! :grouphug:

Besides all those resumes, tell David to make phone calls and personal appearances. Resumes can get put to the side, but who could resist that man's charming presence?! ;)

We are very pleased to announce that a white rhino calf, a boy (no name yet—the team is still deciding), was born May 4 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney photographer Gene Duncan stopped by to take some photos, and we’re happy to share them with you.

This birth was the fourth for mom, Kendi, a 13-year-old white rhino, who was the first rhino born at the park. A rhino birth is a significant event because at one time the species was nearly extinct. As a result of conservation efforts and careful management, the species has grown to number approximately 20,150 worldwide, with 215 residing in North American zoological parks.

The success of our white rhino breeding program has enabled our animal care team to make a direct contribution to the conservation of white rhinos in the wild. In 2006, Nande and Hasani, two rhinos born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, traveled to Africa to join four others at Ziwa Sanctuary in Uganda, where they are helping to reestablish a population that had been extinct since the 1980s. In 2009, Nande became the first white rhino to give birth in Uganda in 27 years; she gave birth to a second calf last year.

Our new calf currently is bonding with mom in their backstage home and will join the other rhinos on the savanna of the Kilimanjaro Safaris in the coming weeks.

The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund and the Disney Foundation have provided more than $1 million in support to programs in Africa and Asia to protect the last five remaining species of rhino.
