Seven Dwarves Mine train - is it really really worth it?

I love 7DMT and generally I'd say pay a extra to ride it if you're not planning to come back for a long time. I understand you have many attractions that fit that description - lots of new things since your last visit - and there are definitely attractions that are more highly rated.

I've been many times in August and I am fine with it but it can be brutally hot - and perhaps some torrential rain storms that are hopefully short. I always wore sandals that could go in the water and took a plastic poncho folded in my bag - plus tons of sunscreen and definitely a hat.

I used to go 1x-3x a year to WDW but after the pandemic the changes they've made with how expensive everything is and paying for Genie+ and so on - it's really soured my taste for another trip. I was there Oct. 2019 and then this past December 2021 - and I have no plans to go back for awhile anyway. If I hadn't been in 20 years it would have definitely been more worth it to see all the new things. I agree with @Miffy and some of the previous posters on strategy. Depends on what you enjoy on a coaster ride. It is a 'not miss' for me and I enjoy it very much!
I get all the thrills and scenery I love without the severe jolting, jerking that I hate in other coasters - a much smoother ride. Many others must feel the same as it's an extremely popular ride.

I'd probably jump in line at park closing instead of waiting during the day when you can be doing other things.

This is exactly what we did last March. It saved us so much time during the day we actually reserved for MK.

As a coaster it's pretty mediocre. The animitronics and visuals are nice. Yes, it's skippable.

Back in 2011 this was what we did to ride TSMM because the line was always so long and that was back when it was purely paper FPs which were always gone for it. Jumped in 5 mins til close and that particular night there was zero people in line and we had a blast. Only downside was we couldn't ride it again due to park being closed at that point. But it can for sure be a good strategy to use to at least get one ride in and in today's age if you'll know you'll be at a park another time on your trip it can help you know if it's a skip it or must do again ride with the additional costs associated with skipping the lines.

I only did it as a FP or during Early Morning Magic back when that was a thing. I would not pay to do it again though. Try to get it at park opening or closing but it certainly isn't worth it unless someone feels they NEED to do it.

Its good. But, I would not be upset if I missed it. That said, I've ridden it a few times, and my oldest (last trip when he was 8) doesn't actually like it, because the swinging cars make him feel insecure. If its a matter of choosing between the Mine Train, and Peter Pan, then Peter Pan would win for me. If I was choosing between the Mine Train and Space Mountain, then the Mine Train would win, because Space Mountain is so jerky....

What about Mine Train versus Splash Mountain? Going with a 6 year old and I've never ridden 7DMT and he hasn't ridden the Mine Train or Splash. He loves BTMRR though.

I would pick Splash over Mine Train, personally, especially if you're going during a time when they weather is warmer.

That's what we are leaning towards, unless my younger child (a big Snow White fan) grows another inch and can join us. My husband rode Mine Train with his older son when I was pregnant, so he's ok with skipping it.

Overrate. And as a size 16 pant female.. the ride literally hurt my legs. Only ride on property I would say is not very thick thigh friendly. The bucket sways alittle but such a short ride def not worth the wait times.

Off site I'm afraid. I have heard that about RotR for sure - I am moderately interested in Star Wars. But I know the ride seems like nothing ever made. But with my wife and two girls - who really don't know or care about Star Wars - going to be quite a task to get on this ride mid August; they certainly wouldn't stand in line for even 75 minutes. I suppose I'll try to get an ILL$ as early as possible. If I can't get one, c'est la vie. Plenty to enjoy in WDW. I still feel Disney shouldn't create a situation where I have spent £2200 on tickets and I can't get on the best ride without sinking half a day or more money.

For what it’s worth I’d rather wait for SDMT than RotR. Gasp! But wouldn’t wait more than an hour for either of them!

We aren't either but RotR was an impressive experience. Although I do have to say it's been a declining one. The first time we went on either it was amazing. There's so much to take in. 2nd time... the value has already dropped quite a bit, especially when malfunctions happen and things get skipped. That goes for smugglers run too.

To us, 7DMT is a must do. We love it. Yes it's short, but very sweet. And the queue is adorable.

If you can't get LL, try getting in line just before closing time. Or during the parade (if the parade is on when you go).

Just pay the $7 ILL and do it. It is new technology and it's fun! It's pretty amazing if you can time it right when fireworks start. It's not hard to book if you pay in the morning for a later spot. It's neat at night. I would pay for 7D over Space Mountain.

Just to say in case people aren't aware but IAS is variable pricing, depending on day of the week and attraction which means Disney can change the pricing whenever they choose to for whatever attraction they choose to and it's already undergone multiple pricing adjustments since it was implemented. I've seen it printed that for 7DMT being $12 for example (previously listed at that time as $10).

I would say it’s not worth an hour+ wait for us, but it’s definitely a cute and fun ride if the line is short or if money isn’t an issue and you are willing to book the LL.

It’s not in our top 5-6 attractions at MK so it’s one that gets skipped a lot if the wait is too long for our taste.

Fun but definitely overrated. I’d definitely use a 60 day out fp for it but I wouldn’t pay extra to ride it. The only “really” cool part of the ride is when you enter the mine and hi ho is playing.

I haven't done Splash much. It's typically closed, or not high priority, when I travel. I'll ask my son when he gets home, but I don't think he would go on it during our last trip. Overall, I think 7DMT is about equivalent for theme, but it's a lot shorter with similar intensity. Splash is very long, and somewhat boring, until you get to the end, and I expect that's even more of the case with the temporary theme changes they're making to remove the controversial Song of the South elements.
