Seven Dwarfs Mine Train FP+ Opening

I haven't set up any FP+'s for MK yet, because I'm worried about being able to get our SDMT FP+ if I've already got our 3 FP+ for every day. If I do decide to go ahead with the other MK FP+ before SDMT FP+ opens up......what will be the procedure to then switch? Won't it take a lot longer than going in with a blank slate to get the SDMT FP+? Should I be concerned about waiting to get our other MK FP+ selection booked?

Thanks!

It would actually probably be quicker for you to go ahead and book your FP+ now and just choose something that you will switch out for SDMT. If you go in with a blank slate then you will have to set up all three of your FP+, which takes more time. Set them up now, then when SDMT FP+ opens all you will have to do is pull up your current FP+ selections and choose the option for one of them to change the attraction. To me that would be quicker.

I think you should go ahead and book your other MK FP+. The process to "change an attraction" is relatively easy. You just click on your FP+ reservation, select the FP+ you want to change, select the option to "Change the Attraction" (as opposed to "Change the Time"). A list of all other available attractions pops up and, once you pick the new attraction, you can also pick a new time for it if you want.

When SDMT becomes available, as long as you are "in the loop" by watching the Disboards, etc., and you know that it has become available, I think you should be able to do this just as easily as if you had a blank slate. I think you should book your FP+ and then play around to figure out how to change attractions, etc. You can play around without actually changing anything because you don't lose your existing reservations unless you actually "Confirm" your changes. I think it is a good idea to get yourself familiar with how this is done before SDMT comes online.

I would be worried for you if you wait too long to do the rest of your FP+. Most of them continue to have a lot of availability, but there are some popular attractions, like Enchanted Tales with Belle, where I am seeing much less availability than I did a few weeks ago.

I was worried also about having less times to pick from, which might mean having nothing available, if I already have other FP+ booked. Am I wrong on how that would work?

I've had very limited experience in this, having only booked 2 other days at EP & HS.

Thanks.

Technically, you are correct. If you have 3 FP+ booked and you go to change one to SDMT, the system will not show you times that overlap with your remaining 2 FP+. However, I think the odds are small that, coincidentally, those are the only 2 timeslots that still have SDMT availability. If you felt like that might be happening, you could always try changing the attraction on the other two FP+.

It's up to you, of course, but I would hate to see you miss out on your preferred attractions/timeslots for your other FP+ options. I think the most crucial thing is to follow the DIS and other sources carefully so you can jump right on it when FP+ opens up for SDMT.

Agree 100%. The rest of NFL was having soft openings and previews for 2 months prior to the "official" opening date.
The rest of New Fantasyland isn't a high-speed rollercoaster employing never-before-seen swaying car technology. Not a lot of risk to patrons on other attractions.

I was so confident that 7DMT was going to be open when we are there on May 15th, but now I'm not so sure.:sad2: I will be so depressed. I thought our timing was going to be perfect.

FWIW, in MK yesterday and still LOTS of construction walls and saw a few cars run but all empty. And a lot of time with nothing visible going on.

In my April group someone posted they saw workers riding it along with empty cars. I'll be there starting Saturday and hope to ride it at some point.

I spent a couple hours dealing with this last weekend, on the phone with tech support - and in the end getting nowhere. But I am glad I learned all the "glitches" in advance.

If you have an existing FP+, and you want to change the experience (to SDMT), then SDMT will only show as a choice IF it is available at the exact SAME time slot. So, I completely agree with you.

When I go to change my existing FP+ to SDMT, if my existing time slot is no longer available, I am going to have to keep choosing new times on my existing experience, and then check to see if there is an available FP+ on SDMT during that slot. IF (fingers crossed) I am able to find an available time slot, I can switch the experience, and THEN, if I want/need to, try to switch to a better time. All the while, my other 2 FP+ (that I don't want to lose) will interfere with my time options.

If you can wait, it HAS to be quicker to select 3 FP+ from scratch. If you have no assigned FP+, within seconds not only will you know if SDMT has available FP+ that day, you will be the proud owner of a FP+!! OR another (maybe better) option is to select 3 now, and when SDMT opens, use the REPLACE option. It is identical to grabbing 3 new rides, but at least if SDMT is already unavailable, you can revert back to your original 3 FP+ and you are not completely at a loss.

That used to be how it worked, but not any more. You can just select a new experience and it will show you all the times avaiable for your day. The only times it won't show you are ones that overlap any existing reservations. No need to wait to book FPs.

Although I would really like to be heading to WDW soon, I'm glad our trip is at the end of June. Booking FP+ very soon. Planning on setting it all up now and making the easy switch later. Maybe, just maybe, FP+ changes will be in place by then.

Just change them on the website as it will show all available times not just try to match during the time slot.

I have not been following this thread as close as I should have. The last time I checked SDMT was sceduled to open at the very beginning of May. Has this changed?

We still don't know. An opening date has never been "scheduled." There is a media date scheduled for May 2, so there is still speculation it could open around that time.
