I don't know where to put this, but we are going to WDW for MNSSHP with another family. There will be seven of us, and we thought it would be cute to be the seven dwarves. BUT we had no idea how difficult it would be to find costumes. We have thought about just doing tshirts with the name of the dwarf, suspenders, and those hats (only can find one place where we can get similar hats), but I thought we would check here to see if any of you had any wonderfully creative ideas. THANKS!

Get a good photo or print of the 7 dwarfs and then hit your fabric store for the materials. Felt squares are a sturdy, cheap, and very easy material to sew costumes and hats from. White cotton batting can be hotglued to glasses for beards, the stiffest interfacing will make sure your hat stays up.....etc--don't be afraid to ask the clerks for some tips.:cool1: . You can go with the Tshirt as your base clothing item and fashion the details to each custume over it. Then, scour your goodwill or salvation army for the non-material details such as glasses (remove the lens) for doc. My advice is to "dress up" from the waist up--don't monkey with your shoes as they HAVE to be comfortable. And don't monkey with your vision using a mask or anything that will get in your way. Use washable face paint instead. Have fun! I used to make all my DD and DS costumes that way and they looked exactly like the originals.:woohoo:

What a cute idea. I'm not creative AT ALL but last summer my DS 11 was in his theatre groups production of Snow White. He was Dopey. All of their costumes were fleece and felt so I totally agree with the OP. Maybe you could do different colored t-shirts for each dwarf. Each seemed to have a dominant color, Dopey was lime green, and then sew or glue the patches on the shirts. Their hats were basically tall triangles and Dopey's ears were glued onto the hat, no idea where you could find big ears!

Love the idea of the glasses and you could do beards with white makeup. For Happy you could do bright red circles on his cheeks and for Sneezy you could do a bright red nose. Sneezy also carried a very loud polka dotted handkerchief. That's all I can remember for now.

Good luck!
