In July we are doing a 6 night vacation. We will be doing the 1st 3 at kidani and the 2nd 3 at BLT. Question is this....

My wife wants to order just enough food from garden grocer for kidani and then order again once we get to BLT. I wAnt to order the food once and have bell services transport from one hotel to the next. Who's right?!?!?!

You can do it either way, so no real right or wrong, just what you prefer.

Just so you know, the vans that transport your goods are not refrigerated. My last hot weather resort split stay transfer resulted in my salad stuff delivered at 2nd resort all wilted.

Frozen foods won't make it. Refrigerator foods may make it. I'd forget about freezer foods and pack some insulated bags for the fridge stuff.

The only way you can shop/deliver once is if you transfer your own groceries to BLT (drive or take a taxi). Once you arrive there, bell services can quickly put those items marked (please mark them) freezer vs. refrigerated at BLT. Maybe pack a couple of those Costco type thermal bags? I agree, not a good idea to leave this up to WDW to transfer and keep cold.

your wife is definitely right:woohoo:- I purchased groceries from a Target before arrival and when they finally made it to my room I was worried about the temps of foods! I can't imagine them moving my groceries to another resort!!

For just 3 nights / 3 nights it may seem to be a bit of overkill to order twice, but if you really take advantage of preparing your own food you can easily save by ordering twice. I don't know if GG does this, but WGS offers a substantial savings on the delivery fee if you order twice from them in the same visit. I'm pretty sure they count transferring resorts as the same visit.

Another thought: how about eating in the first 3 nights, then finish the trip by eating out for 3? You can easily transfer dry goods such as cereal for the second half of the trip and just buy milk from the store.

We are staying for 12 nights at three resorts and i have ordered twice because three times seemed like overkill. I intend taking an insulated bag and freezer packs to pack the few things that will be perishable but we are going in August so i am facing the fact they may get ruined.

i think your wife is correct and two separate orders are necessary. It is only going to cost $12 which compared to the overall cost of your holiday must be very small.

Yeah, when we did a split stay we had to leave our refrigerated items behind because of this. All the dry non-perishable items though you could send with bell services.

Besides how long the perishables will be out of refrigeration, you also don't know how long it will be sitting in a hot truck while they make other possible stops over to BLT.

One other choice would be to have all the non-perishables sent over from Kindani to BLT and then just pick up the perishables from the resort shop once you are settled in your room.

I would eat out while at Kidani, maybe the DDP. Order food for delivery at BLT.

This is an interesting dispute that I have not even thought about for our 8 night BLT/Kidani split stay in July. We are starting at BLT for 4 nights. Maybe I'll just get food delivered for Kidani, since we have Chef Mickey, BOG and SOA 3 of the four evenings. The only day we don't have an ADR, we are at TL, and I guess we will just do counter all day, or order Giordano's. Thanks for this thread.....I would not have thought of this issue!

I would order food once you're at BLT. This way cold things stay cold. You run the risk of it sitting out when you have them transporting it and/or storing it for you until your room is ready.

The other option is to just hop in a cab with groceries to go to the new resort. That way you can check in and store what needs to be kept refrigerated in a timely manner with Bells Services vs. having no idea how long those things will be en route from one resort to the other.

A happy wife is a happy life! I would never trust them keeping foods cold. Bell services only has so much room - we learned that the hard way. We had a bad experience once so from now on we rent a car the first day and get our own groceries.

Order twice or drop off groceries at resort and see if they have your room ready, if not they will put them in the refridgerator for you.

Or you could order once and use up mostly all the perishables the 1st few days, transport the non per to new resort and pick up milk and other perishables at the resort store. Since there is a $15 delivery charge you would make out better buying from the resort store considering what perishables you need.

But I would not trust Disney to get them to the next resort without spoiling.

Our plan, pack a cooler and ziplocks, fill the ziplocks with ice, and use those in the cooler for transport
