Settle a Debate Between Hubby and Me

If I am out golfing or doing something outside and sweating, I will shower before bed, otherwise in the morning. If you have a hard labor job, say bricklayer, I can see where you would want to shower after work but if you sit in an office all day how dirty do you really get?

I have showered in the morning since I started 6th grade. If I did stuff in the day to get yucky, I would shower that night and then the next morning.

I shower at night. I like the feeling of being clean and getting into bed. Also my hair takes way to long to dry. I'd rather have that extra 30 minutes in the morning to sleep late.

But as long as you are showering, what does it matter when you do it?

I had to laugh when I read this, because my DH and I used to have the same argument when we were first married. I liked showering before I went to bed, but he said it was gross not to shower in the morning!

I learned a long time ago, with my DH, that doing it his way (when it's something that doesn't matter too much) is easier than hearing him yapping about it every day. So guess who showers in the morning now??? :rotfl:

But for the record, I'm with you! :)

I understand both sides, but I tend to side more with showering in the morning. While you're sleeping, your skin folds (underarms and Va-J-J) can get musty - even though you aren't doing anything but sleeping. They would need to be cleaned and deodorized before attepting to work all day, IMO. I also need a shower to "wake me up".

Not sure if this is a debate, more than just a preference.

DH & I both shower in the morning. Even if I do shower at night after teaching dance all night, I still shower in the morning. I'd feel too gross if I didn't.

DD's all shower at night - that's more of a time factor.

I like to shower in the morning - because of the whole hair thing. DH will not go to bed without showering at night. He always makes fun of me for sleeping in my "daily dirt".

SO - what are you doing at night that you get dirty in your sleep??? :teeth:

Anyway, I figured out a compromise... I take a hot bubble bath at night, then just wash my hair in the morning. I do sleep much better when I'm all clean!

I shower in the morning before I go to the gym, I rinse off at the gym and I take a shower before going to bed.

I would say it depends. Some people (like me) can stay fairly clean at night, whereas my Dh really can't - he sweats in bed at night. And even if you can stay mostly clean overnight, there are still parts of you that may need freshening up to the point that you might as well hop in the shower, even if only briefly.

Personally, I shower in the morning b/c I need to wash my hair before I go out anywhere - it gets limp and out of shape after I sleep on it. I will only shower at night if I've been unusually dirty or sweaty, then I still shower in the morning unless I'm just staying home. DH showers night and morning.

OP: I don't think either of you can make a blanket statement either way!

Night of course.

Think about it, you do all that stuff during the day. Walking, housework, exercise.

Unless you jog in your sleep, I don't see how you would get dirty while asleep.

Plus night showering gives you more time in the morning.

We'll night shower when its time for Disney.

I would always take a shower when I was younger in the morning, but now I take one at night. It is just so much easier - especially with getting my DS ready for school and me getting ready for work.

I just don't have time in the morning anymore and I hate drying my hair with the hair dryer, at night I let it dry by itself!

I prefer to shower at night. Nothing feels better than slipping in between the sheets after a hot shower!

DH on the other hand, takes one at night AND another one in the morning!

Being an "exothermic" sleeper, showering at night would do little for me. Being an office worker, I do most of my sweating at night (if at all). Therefore, if I showered before bed, I'd need to take another one in the morning before I'd be decent for public display. I also suffer from bedhead each morning and a brush does little to help. The only time I shower in the evening is if I've done something that's made me quite dirty during the waking hours.

I used to shower in the morning, but now I MUCH prefer to shower at night. I love feeling clean when I climb into bed. :)

I shower when I am dirty.....sometimes in the am, sometimes in the pm, some times in the afternoon....

Mostly whenever we have hotwater....with 2 teenagers that can get tricky!

I think it is a skin issue. I definately get sweaty and oily at night. I like to start my day clean so I shower in the morning. If I'm filthy, I'll shower before bed, but I really don't care if I don't feel clean - because I'm sleeping! I'd rather feel nice and clean all day when I'm awake then feel clean for a few minutes a night before falling asleep.

The only time I don't shower in the morning is when I'm camping. I just feel too gross.

I shower at night, DH in the morning.

My hair takes forever to blow dry....I would have to get up at least an hour earlier....sorry, it isn't going to happen. I don't mind going to bed with a wet head (I guess I am weird) and it is nice and dry in the morning. My hair is also stick straight, so I don't have to worry about styling it too.

It is also nice not to be fighting with DH in the morning for the bathroom. He does take an evening shower though if he is doing something outside and gets dirty/sweaty. My evening showers stem from growing up with 2 brothers and a mom all trying to get ready for work/school in the morning. There wasn't time for everyone to get in the bathroom and out the door on time if we all took showers in the morning.

My DH showers in the morning...I shower in the morning and night, only because it relaxes me. There is no "right or wrong" way to take a shower :)

I think it's a matter of preference. There was a time not that long ago when people did not routinely take a shower every day.:rolleyes1 However, if my DH was saying he thought I was skanky, I'd get in there and take a shower
