Settle a bet about Indiana Jones

When we were at MGM, during the Indiana Jones show, the actress with Indiana Jones "got hurt" during the fight scene. They stopped the production and we waited around for about 10 minutes until a new actress came out. In the mean time, there was a lot of buzzing around down on the stage, a woman came out with an ice pack for the injured girl, etc. My DH says this is part of the show--and the "director" even said when they started up again that this is what really happens on the set. But it seemed like a really long delay without any "Disney-ish" entertainment and I think she really got hurt.

Does she get hurt at every show?

I don't remember that ever happening...of course I am a bit senile.....but still.....i don't think i've ever seen that happen....and we've seen the show quite a few times...

I have seen the show several times and the only person that "gets hurt" is one of the extras that the person playing "Marian" beats up. He, of course turns out to be part of the stunt crew, so she never really hits him, etc.

If someone else got hurt, then it wasn't intentional I am sure (not to cause a 10 minute delay as well)

No... the female stunt lead is not supposed to 'get hurt' as a scripted part of the routine show. She must have been unintentionally injured during the performance.

Accidents and injuries do occur sometimes during the stunt shows, just as they do on real movie sets, regardless of how safe they try to be.

I've seen the show many times, and even been an extra a couple of times. Unless the show has really been changed since I last saw it, she really did get hurt. The comment that this is what happens on the set is the reason that there are stunt doubles. Then the stunt double can get hurt on the set instead of the actor. If the actor were to get hurt it could slow or stop production on a movie.

I've seen the show MANY times and I was even an extra a month ago. No one got hurt. I am sure that was real. Hmmmmmm, wonder how that happened.

It sounds like she may have been somewhere she wasn't suppose to be at. I've never see a 10 min delay due to an injury.

I spent 5 months working merch at Indy (sneaking peeks at the show to kill time when we were dead in the shops - which was pretty much everytime the shows started, haha) and never saw or heard anything about anyone getting hurt, so I would guess that the director's comment was just to play it off and use that to explain that on actual movie sets, no matter how much practice they have, accidents still happen and it's still dangerous no matter how choreographed it is.

Every time I see the show, it amazes me that "Indy" doesn't get hurt. You know the part when the spikes come shooting out of the ground? Makes me wince every time. I'd hate to see him off his mark by 2-3", if you know what I mean!

Kind of along the same lines...we were watching the new motor car stunt show two weekends ago at MGM and two of the black cars had a head on collision! If I hadn't seen the show once before, I would have assumed (as most of the crowd did) that it was part of the show. However, with very little panic, they quickly told everyone to leave immediately and that the show was over! It was really shocking to see and we were so relieved to see both drivers come out of their cars seemingly ok as we walked out!

One of the first rules of live entertainment is "If something goes wrong, don't break character... Act like that was supposed to happen and work around it."

She didn't get hurt when we were there last Tuesday. The stunt show seems to have alot of problems that they just roll with. In the first chase scene the red car was suppose to back up & go off the set but it stalled out. That gave us the chance to see that the engine was in the back because they had the mechanic come right out & fix it. They started the scene from the top again.

I agree. The female lead isn't supposed to be hurt during the show. She beats up guys and survives a truck crash with no scratches. No injuries.

Prince Charming here, I believe those spikes are made out of foam rubber as the huge boulder is only a big blow up ball. Correct me if I'm wrong.
