settings for night shot of

the hat in MGM

I seem to not be able to get the settings right for a nightshot of the hat
It always seems to be too dark and can't see the hat it usually ends up focusing on other things.
I have a Sony DSC-V1 can anyone help in suggesting some settings to try??

Are you using a tripod? If not you'll have to get one. I'm guessing probably f/8 or so for about 2 seconds. If that doesn't work, the adjust the shutter accordingly. Use ISO 100 or 200 to cut down on noise from the dark sky.
 
Thanks. I will try the tripod. I never brought one with me in the past but I think I am bringing it this time. Thanks also for the setting to try. I will definitely try them.

okay Kelly, did you lay down on the ground for this one too??? Trying to figure out how you got the perspective:confused3
 
almost... but not quite.

My Manfrotto tripod can be reverse-mounted so it's equivalent to laying on the ground.
I personally laid myself on the ground with the camera attached to the tripod. Once I got the perspective and angle I want, I tightened all the screws, use a cable shutter release and took the pic.

I, personally, understand why someone would go to this length for a photo- it is incredible, :thumbsup2

but...

:lmao: that is where my DH would draw the line and ditch me for sure! If I laid down on the ground to take a picture he would just die! Not before calling security and having me hauled off to the looney bin. :rotfl:

that is what makes the difference between good pictures and fantastic pictures,,,the willingness to carry the extra gear and do the extraordinary to get the shot..

Exactly- it's the difference between a "snapshot" and a "photograph". :goodvibes

Lost the exif data on all my WDW pics from December (dunno how exactly), but that pic was probably about a 2-second exposure, taken in Program mode, definitely using my pocket-size tripod, and a 6-point star filter.
