Setting up FP+ when stay is split between onsite and offsite

Hi - not sure if this is in the right home. Seeing if anybody else has come across this.

We are on a family vacation. We will spend week 1 offsite from 25 August and week 2 onsite at a WDW resort from 1 September. We are travelling from the UK which means we purchase one 14 day ticket for all parks at a discounted rate.

When I set up MDE and add our tickets/reservations, will it recognise that I get a 60 day window from 1 September in week 2 and allow me to make my selections, or will it lock me into a 30 day window? Do I need to buy 2 separate 7 day tickets to avoid confusion?

Not sure if anybody else has encountered this scenario or similar.

Yes, this is the correct forum because FP questions are now posted on the Theme Parks forum.

When your 60-day FP window opens, it will include your offsite portion within the open window as long as you didn't purchase a package and your tickets were purchased and linked separately from your room reservation.

Please see the Split Stay section of the FP FAQ Sticky at the top of this forum for more detailed info. :)

Thanks - found it and read it but did want to clarify (pasted below).

Firstly, my understanding of this is that the important thing to do is purchase my ticket separately from the Package for the best flexibility.

My onsite stay is 1 September 2017. Assuming 2 July is 60 days out, does this mean that on this date I will be able to select FP+ for both the window of my resort stay and also within the 60 days before?

Or is it the case that on the 2 July I will be able to make selections for my RO booking (week 2) and then on 1 August I will be able to begin making my selections for my offsite bookings as this is the 30 day window. I am assuming the latter.

Offsite Stay followed by Onsite Stay
  • Offsite Stay followed by Onsite Package Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite package stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite package stay. This booking window will not include the dates of the offsite stay because the package tickets are not considered valid until check-in date of the onsite package stay. The ticket portion of the package can be activated up to 10 days prior of the onsite package check-in date (so that the package tickets can be used during the offsite stay).
  • Offsite Stay followed by Onsite RO Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite RO stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite RO stay. Since the offsite stay precedes the onsite RO stay, this window already includes booking for the offsite stay. Additionally, the booking window will roll forward (a “rolling 60”) each day beyond the onsite RO checkout date until the guest checks out of the onsite resort. All of this assumes valid tickets are linked to the MDX account.

Yes. It's an all inclusive open window: full 60 + length of Stay.

So does this mean that in theory you could book a 2 week offsite stay, and then book a for one night on property at the end of the trip to access a larger FP+ booking window for the entire offsite stay?

Yes!! :) Tickets must be linked separately - never in a package for this to work.

@bilsLANDO ~ also read the Throwaway Room Sticky at the top of this forum. There are advantages for having an onsite booked for the beginning of the Stay.
