It’s moving day! We are leaving the All Stars and going to the Wilderness Lodge! So we packed up, checked out, and went to Typhoon Lagoon. It is so much fun there. We started with the Shark Reef, where I got to swim with some sharks, rays, and lots of fish. I did this 4 times! At first you want to hyperventilate because the water is so cold, and then me, I was a bit acrophobic as the bottom drops away, but it was a blast. The fish seem to come up so close to you. Then we went to the tube rides. There are 3; one is a family ride. We did them all but they were kid of short and not so fun, so we went to the wave pool. “Whoosh!” “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” What fun, to get knocked off your feet and almost drowned by a 6 foot- plus wave. We stayed a while but soon got tired so we went to the lazy river to float. It was busy, but nice, and then we heard the bobbing waves going so we went back to the pool. They were nice too, just little waves like you would find at the beach. We ended our morning at Typhoon Lagoon with more big waves, but as they kept knocking us in to people because it was so busy, we left. I was able to take a shower and blow dry my hair with the hand dryer in the changing room. Seth also showered and we left to go find lunch, which was a McDs. They got my veggie order right. After all that playing in the pool I could have eaten 4!
We had to go back to Downtown Disney to finish up some things and enjoy a little more time there. It was very hot and the sun was very strong on our sun burnt skins. At least it wasn’t too busy. We finished and then it was time to move on to our new home, the Wilderness Lodge! Neither of us had ever been before so it was a complete surprise. We have stayed in the real one in Yellowstone but this was so much bigger. We walked in and both of us went “Dwa!” It was had to pay attention to the person behind the desk, we wanted to look around too much. We were given our room key and we went to check it out. It was very nice. Our view was of the forest, the smokehouse, the Contemporary, and the dock. Oh well. The room had 2 queen beds, 2 sinks, a table and chairs, a wardrobe with the TV in it, and a bathroom. Everything was in the mission style. We went back down and got a bellhop to bring up our luggage and Seth parked the car. As soon as our things arrived we took real showers and we did a little exploring. The place is huge. We found so many little nooks and sitting areas, and we took a lot of pictures.
But too soon we had to get moving again. We had ressies at Wolfgang Puck’s at the West Side, and tickets to Cirque du Soleil. So we dressed up and took off for Downtown Disney West Side. It looked like rain but held off for us. We walked to Puck’s Café and had a really wonderful dinner. Seth had a pasta dish with basil, tomatoes, and shrimp. I had grilled whitefish with Asian veggies in a coconut curry sauce. I didn’t know Asian veggies included carrots and red bell peppers. Anyway, the food was really good and we had a chocolate soufflé for dessert. Afterwards we walked around the West Side, looking in the shops. They are pretty strange on this side; the Magnetron for magnets, a place that sells celebrity artifacts, a small candy shop, Virgin Record Megastore, and a few other odd places. We sat and watched the people go in to Pleasure Island until the skies looked so threatening that we walked back to the Cirque building to get under cover. However it never rained on us. It was a wonderfully cool evening, almost sweater weather. Finally it was time to go into Cirque. The theater is beautiful on the outside, a big white concrete tent. On the inside it is a very open theater in the round. The bottom section is right up to the stage. We were in the middle section in the center left. We had great seats. To start the show a trumpeter leads the main characters out amongst the audience as they move from spotlight to spotlight. (Trumpeter, clown-like child-person, ballerina, strong man, man in red, male dancer, La Nouba) The show was incredible, the best I’d ever seen. The details alone are enough to watch. There was a man who road a bicycle upside down, 4 “clowns” dressed in white and very fey, a cleaning woman that was flirtatious, dancers, and so much more. The acts were so well done; my favorite was the people who used a length of red silk to fly. They had no ropes, they just grabbed on to the silk and wrapped it around themselves and climbed and flew. Seth liked the power track/trampoline with the wall. That was so incredible too. A great finale. They also had a tightwire walker who had a woman balanced on his head on one hand, trapeze artists, flying doors and 2 people doing tricks on one big one, 2 cyclists, the German wheels, the little Diablos, and 2 clowns. The music was also very good; we bought the CD and listened to it all the way home to KC.
All too soon it was over and that meant it was time to hit the store. We were able to go the DVD of Dralion and the Making of La Nouba. The show started at 9:00 pm and got out at 10:30. We were very tired and glad we didn’t have to catch a bus. We drove back to the Wilderness Lodge and found it almost deserted. We walked around a little more and enjoyed the evening.

If you have come this far, you might as well keep on! Day 7:

I've stayed at Wilderness Lodge before. I really loved it. It always seemed like a peaceful place to come back to after a busy day.:D

WOW! What a day!

We stayed at the WL in October for our 3rd anniversary. It is an awe inspiring resort, isn't it???? I love the theming and the decor. You really feel like you are in the American Northwest!

I loved La Nouba! My favorite was the red ribbons, too! I just purchased tickets for Varekai in Philly in the fall - I can't wait!

WL sounds really great, one of these days, I'll have to experience it.

La Nouba is indescribable, isn't it? I can never find the words to describe it, it's so wonderful :)

thanks for posting this, I enjoyed reading about your day :)

Tinkbell, it was relaxing, so much more than ASMo.

Krissalee, I'm jealous! Cirque isn't coming to KC.
