We are thinking of driving to Sesame Place. Its a 3 hour and 45 minute drive. We have a 6 year old and a 4 year old. We were thinking of going over Easter weekend and staying at one of the official Sesame Place hotels.

Thoughts or reviews?

Thanks!

It will probably still be chilly if you are going to the one in PA. Fun place though! We preferred to go in the Summer so we could enjoy the pool/water rides.

I’ve gone to Sesame Place yearly for the last 12 years - we live 2 hrs and 45 mins away but it’s close to my extended family.

It’s a small park, I cannot emphasize this enough. You can walk from the gate to any point in the park in 5-10 minutes. Sometimes the small size is a great thing!!! Other times it makes for huge crowds.

We have found it to be most enjoyable on summer weekdays. About half the park is water rides so when they are closed there is not tons to do.

These Easter days are new this year so no clue what the crowds will be like - Halloween is insane, Christmas is ok usually. Since this is the first year that they have been open for Easter it might not be too bad since word has not really gotten out, the same used to be true for Halloween weekend’s, but no longer.

I’ve never stayed in a partner hotel, but any hotel in that area would be fine. It’s a very typical suburban area.

Unless you plan to do the character meal I would recommend leaving the park to eat. Tons of restaurants within 19 mins and the park food is crappy, expensive and always has long lines.

Went there once years ago. Crowded, kids peeing next to the kids water areas, a certain religious group blocking access to the Big Birds Rambling River ride so only they could ride. Never again.

Haven't been there in forever, but will be curious to see what others responses are. I grew up 10 minutes from it, and very much remember it being built. As someone else noted, it's physically small. It was built on a small strip of property right outside of a typical suburban mall, the Oxford Valley Mall. I obviously don't know for sure, but I'm guessing they never envisioned it being as popular as it turned out to be. When it opened, it had basically one small parking lot. Very quickly, the mall parking lot, the office complex next to Sesame Place and the restaurants/offices across the street were getting clogged. They have added to the park itself, as well as parking over the years. However, it's still a physically small space for a "theme park". Unless anything has changed, if it's a warm weekend over a major holiday, expect it to be quite crowded (again, the small size makes it more noticeable)

I managed to avoid it, but many of my friends have gone. Reviews have been its ok during the week, a nightmare on weekends. I really don’t know how much there is to do without the water areas being open, in the summer it’s a one day park.

You'd have a better time going to a Great Wolf Lodge. There's one in the Poconos (other places, too).

Sesame Place is about half water attractions, half dry stuff. I've only been in the summer, when it would be packed, and you couldn't take your eyes off a young child for even a second. There would be older kids (10-12yos) running through the kiddie pool areas, plowing down anyone in their path. Lots of concrete. I would take a GWL over SP any day of the week.

I live about 40 minutes away. I went on Sunday for Elmo’s Eggstravaganza and it was pretty crowded. This is the first year they have had an Easter event and they didn’t go big. It’s hard to say how busy it will be Easter weekend. They have minimal Easter decorations, a tiny maze, a scavenger hunt, and some special characters. They are not running all the shows (just one) and the water rides aren’t open. The place they do Character dines is under renovation and the temporary location isn’t ideal. It’s still an enjoyable park, but if you are only going to go once, I might wait until after official park opening.

You're going to get some bad reviews and some of it is true, but when my daughters were younger and we had season passes they loved it. We just got passes again this year since our son is 3 and we're going to take advantage of the Sea World admission. With that said, I think you would get more of your money's worth if you waited until the entire park is open.
