Sesame Place = EXPENSIVE!

Holy Moly -- $50.95 for a one day pass. We've never been to SP before and are wondering if it is worth the price. Any discounts??

Similar to WDW - I agree that SP is WAY too expensive for a single day. But that same $50 gets you a 2nd day for free. So IMO $25 per day is definitely worth the cost. We have been twice and need to drive 6 plus hours to get there - but we will be returning again this summer - for 2 days.

As far as I can tell - there are no discounts on the 2 day ticket - but you might find $5 off on the single day ticket.

It is a full day of fun. Food is expensive but bring your own stocked cooler, leave it in your car (pay for the upgraded parking) - and eat in their very nice picnic area with tables and umbrellas. Kids love the water rides and there are a couple handfuls of dry rides too. Small park - but I love this part - not impossible for people to split up and get back together.

I don't think I would pay $50 for a single day though. But I wouldn't pay $80 for a single day at WDW either...I would just plan accordingly to take advantage of the multi-day savings.

We went a few years ago and while we didn't do too many things, I can't imagine going for 2 days in a row. It isn't that big and was extremely crowded-especially the water rides. My husband was military and we were able to get in for free at the time, so at least I didn't feel like I wasted my money.

I have gone to Sesame Place the last 2 years with a big group so we get the group rate. Last year it was $19 and this year it went up to $22. It is worth it at that price, but not worth it for the normal full gate price.

People there are rude and the staff does not care. We had a lady stand up in the street during the parade, so we asked the staff member (who spend the whole parade kneeling down blocking our view) if she could ask the lady to move. Staff member went over to the lady and came back and said I'm sorry I tried she won't sit down.

I was at SP today!

Yes, it's outrageously expensive; it actually makes WDW look like a bargain. I bought lunch for me & my 6 year-old niece and it was almost $25....and that's with a 30% discount because we're season pass holders. I wanted to get each of us a soft pretzel until I saw that they were $3 each.

But my niece LOVES the place, and I love to take her, so it's worth it for me. I'll just have to work some extra hours to make up for it

We did Sesame Place twice and I am not a big fan, but when DD was 2 1/2 she really enjoyed it. Last year (or was it the year before, I can't even remember?) I don't think she enjoyed it as much, she was kind of over her Sesame Phase...onto the Disney one haha.

But if you get the 2 day pass it is worth it, $50 for ANY 2 days, for us that's not bad, we are about 40 minutes away so we could get the tickets tomorrow and then go back another day in August.

For me, I always compare things to Disney and so far NOTHING has come close. Sesame is not as clean as Disney. We also had an issue last time with groups. It seemed a day camp was there and it was teens watching a bunch of kids....teens were NOT doing such a good job and were more interested in entertaining themselves. DD was getting pushed, shoved, and fiance could not take it anymore and said something to one of the teens.

You also have to pay for parking too, I cannot remember how much that is.
Food...like all parks is expensive. We have always taken our own and went back to our car and ate.

Another option to save some cash is to go @ 3 when they offer the twilight hours. We did this the first time we went, tickets were only $30 and there isn't a great deal to do so we got everything done.

The thing that ANNOYS me to tears about Sesame is paying the same amount for DD, I always figure places should have a child's admission fee separate from adults.

I am blabbering, but if your children are into Sesame Street then go for it, if not then try and find something else. We are trying to find some nice day trips for our fam, but I have not been successful, everything is so expensive.

I second this. It cost us almost $300 to walk through the gate for a one day pass and I was not impressed.

I just went for the first time this week -- like a PP we also had a large group, so we got the rate of $22 per person. The park was empty (it was Tuesday), and I think that made all the difference.

My kids had a blast. I'd go again next year, but only very early in the season -- I've heard that when it gets crowded it is a nightmare.

If we didn't live within 5 minutes and have a season pass, I would no way pay what they want for a 1 day admission! We pay $75 for the ENTIRE season(per pass) so then its worth it! I have a 5 yr old and 1 yr old twins so for us they love it. Since we pay nothing for the twins and we go during the week(non busy time) it really pays for itself. It is a GREAT time for little ones I would say up to 6/7yrs old.

We went last September for the first time (DS had just turned 2). We got the 2 day passes and had a great time. We ended up upgrading those to season passes good at any of the Anheusier Busch parks through the end of 2009. So, we went back again this year. It's nice to be able to go and not worry if we spend the full day at the park to get our money's worth (we went for a couple of hours Friday, most of Saturday and a couple of hours Sunday). DS was tired of it by the time we left. We live in between Sesame Place and Busch Gardens, so our next trip is BG. We're also going to use the passes at Sea World in November. For us, the passes are worth it, BUT, we won't go to Sesame Place for their 2 day passes anymore - that's too expensive for what you get.

Thanks everyone for your input! We kind of live right between Sesame Place and Dutch Wonderland. We've always been fans of DW and thought we'd try SP this year for something new. Looks like we'll skip it and stick with DW. It's much more resonable.

Have you heard of Knoebels? It's also in Pennsylvania. We found it 2 weeks ago and loved it! No parking fees, no admission fees. It's like an oldtime amusement park, you buy tickets to ride. The rides ranged from 75 cents to about $2.00. Sorry, not sure about the rollercoasters because DD10 will not go on one, even if you paid her! .

It was very shady, they built around trees instead of cutting them down. We had lunch in the park (there are picnic benches if you want to bring your own), and lunch was $5.00 for 2 pieces of chicken (nice size), an ear of corn and a corn muffin.

I really enjoyed the day there and am looking forward to going back, which I can't say about sesame place or six flags. Knoebels was really a great park, and cheap too! I think the whole day ran us about $40 and we still have $8.00 in tickets left!

We had season passes for 2 years~last year paying full price for our DD. So not worth it. The park is great the water rides are alot of fun, but they dont change their shows ever...same ones over and over and over again. Plus they just keep letting folks in to the point where you cant even get your foot into the water because there are so many people standing in the pools. Also I second the rude. OMG some of the people here have absolutely no manners. Let 12 year old kids in the "kiddie" section and get mad if you tell their child not to bounce your kid off and send your 2 year old flying down the ball. We would go fromm 10-12 then leave. And the fireworks, so not worth the effort to stay and watch those on special nights you get a better show watching our neighbors sending them off. The price is wayyyy too much money...go to Dorney Park instead more to do!!

Knobles has a great kids section. I was just there yesterday and my daughter loves it. We go several times a year. It is usually my daughter 2 and my 4 nephews 1,2,3,5 and they all love it. It's their favorite park, but that might change after we go to disney in 2 weeks.

Wow! Don't live anywhere near SP, but was trying to convince myself to spend $120 (with all pay kids pirce coupon) for our family of 4 to go to Six Flags San Antonio to visit the new Wiggles section (a collection of 5 or so rides, the Six Flags equivilant of Fantasyland) on our next trip to Sea World. Sounds like Six Flags will be a bargain!

Doesn't this get you a return trip at a later date?? Elmo's pass or something or other.

We always felt it was expensive however, since it was for 2 days, not too bad.

It is really for smaller kids. I would not reccomend for anyone over 6 or 7.

If you do Seasame plus SeaWorld, Aquatica, etc... the Grover Season Pass will pay-off in a herry. I think SeaWorld is about $69 at gate, Seasame is $50, etc...
