There's dairy and nut allergies (kids) in our party. Any server(s) really good with handling allergies on the Magic? Thanks!

All servers (well anyone that deals with food in any way at DCL) have extensive and regular training about food allergies, so, pretty much all would be good. I would also take a bet that servers deal with at least one dietary requirement a cruise so are well practised too.
However, it can all depend on who you 'click' with, and some servers may articulate things a bit better than others.

I felt like the chef on board was more critical than the actual server...our chef was AWFUL!!! The head guy (dinner captain?) is also more important because he/she handles the allergy requests. The servers (on the Wonder) took the regular orders but really did not do too much as far as communicating with the kitchen about meals.

I agree that the head server can be more critical in managing allergies. On the Magic, my DW has found Wira Wirajaya to be outatanding in terms of her gluten allergy. We've requested him for our last three cruises on the Magic and will do so again next January when we cruise two five nights b2b.

My daughter has severe nut allergies and we have been on Magic, Wonder and Fantasy. I have found that all three ships were very good at working with us and advising us on safe choices and accommodations. I make sure that our servers and the head server all know about the allergy. They have always gone above and beyond for us.

We are on the Magic in 2 weeks with kid's gluten allergy, I will request Wira! Thanks for the tip!

Our 4 year old has a peanut allergy and was thinking about this myself. I was excited then worried as We are going on the wonder for Halloween. So I am making sure we bring candy for trick or treating to change out but What were your thoughts on the Buffett?

For the trick or treating on the ship (the one done by dcl) there is nut free candy at each station. You just have to ask for it - it's often bigger and more attractive looking so all children want if it's out.

My DH is celiac so he needs to be GF and DD is GF, Diary, Egg and Lobster free. Disney does a great job training their chefs and serving staff. They take it all very seriously. Only had one occasion at Disney hotel where it wasn't done seriously and when the manager came over to check on things we told him and he went to insure all was done correctly. Buffets are handled just as well you just need to let them know when you go in and they get someone to assist you through the line to get food. We really have never had to worry when we travel with Disney by land or ship. :)

DCL will not advise anyone with a food allergy to eat off the buffet as cross contamination is an issue. They will (although it takes A LOT of time...) go down the line and makes notes of what you would like to eat and then go in the back and prepare a fresh plate. Buffet meals typically took us about 2 hours. About 20-30 minutes to wait for a chef to be available to walk through the line...then another 20-30 to get the meal plated and delivered...if it was during the breakfast of lunch rush, it was longer. We were on board 15 days...

MunFam...yes you are right about them going back on the buffet to get the food. I misstated what I meant they walked the line to show them what they were able to have and took notes. We never had to wait very long to speak with a chef or get the food. We never spent 2 hours in the buffet area for meals. Sorry your experience was longer.

Aditya (server) and Tiago (assistant) were both amazing with my gluten-free status.

I can't say Dan (head server) wasn't good with allergies...but I can't say he was. I barely saw him. Which surprised me. So I would not recommend him if you feel you need a little more hand-holding regarding allergies.

But Aditya did fine all on his own - even took it upon himself to get a special dessert for me one night without my even asking for it.
