Does anyone who has recently been on the Magic have any recommendations for servers?

After reading a couple of posts about "not too good" servers, I really want to try to avoid that and would like to request someone I know is going to be pleasant and good around kids.

On our last cruise, we had Chevon from Jamaica and Julio from S. Africa. They were fantastic with our kids, but I have heard they are no longer with Disney.

Any suggestions would be great. I am a firm believer that your servers can make or break your cruise and I want to try to assure us all a "MAGICal" time!!

Thanks!::MinnieMo

WE HAD SLYVESTER FROM INDIA AND LEASA FROM JAMAICA. THEY WERE WONDERFUL!!! SLYVESTER WOULD CUT MY FOOD UP WHEN I WAS HOLDING THE BABY, LEASA MADE LITTLE BUTTERFLIES FOR MY 4 Y-O DD, THEY WOULD HUG MY LITTLE GIRL EACH NIGHT(SHE LOVED THESE GUYS!!). THEY WERE JUST AMAZING. THEY WERE THE REASONS WHY WE WOULD LOOK FORWARD TO DINNER EACH NIGHT. ALSO, THEY WERE A HUGE REASON WHY WE REBOOKED AGAIN. MY DH WAS SOOOO SAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO THESE TWO WHO WORKED SO HARD TO MAKE US HAPPY- AND THEY DID. WE REQUESTED THEM AS OUR SERVERS FOR OUR 1/29/2005 CRUISE!!!IF YOU DIDNT LOVE YOUR SERVERS, I COULD SEE WHY IT WOULD HAVE AN IMPACT ON YOUR OVERALL OPINION OF YOUR CRUISE!:)

we had Jean from france. he was fabulous. unfortunately, the assistant server we have appears not to be onboard. she was thinking about returning home and may have done that.

We just had Ciao Romano from Phillipine and assistant Sampong from Thailand. my kids are 12,14,17. Sammy was great with them. There were definately tears the last night, especially from Sammy.

We are home 2 days, my kids & I miss them.

Ciao is taking his vacation in two weeks, to go home for 2 months.

We just got back from the Magic. Roberto from Peru and Erwin from St V were great. They took care of table# 5 and 6 on the APL rotation. Roberto took care of my twin boys with puzzles and magic tricks. Highly recommended.

Server Recommendations?
For reliability, stability and performance, I recommend Compaq/HP Servers, if price is a concern go with Dell servers.

 Ooops, wrong kind of servers.:teeth: On the Magic we have had great servers, good servers and soon to be good servers. I'm just going to stick with the luck of the draw on who I get. I have seen some of our prior servers on subsequent cruises and have visited with them. It has always been good to get reaquainted. Getting new servers is a lot of fun too.

I can HIGHLY recommend SYLVESTER from India!! He was GREAT!! He made my DW very happy by FEEDING her the last bite of food on her plate!! We were on the 2/704 Magic cruise and LOVED it!! It was our first cruise of any kind ..and won't be our last!!::MickeyMo :wave2:

Does Sylvester have someone that he works with? Did you request him/them in advance? This is also our 1st cruise ever, any suggestions very helpful.

Thanks!

Adina from Roumania and Anton from Bugaria were amazing. Adina may be on vacation at the moment, though. But these two made our cruise. Adina would fetch pepperoni pizza from Pinocchio's for one of my sons. She cleaned up after the kids, spoiled them rotten. Brought multiple goodies every meal, some not even on the menus. She would cross the restaurants and serve us in addition to our regular staff at lunches and breakfast. They waited on my senior mother hand and foot, helping her to and from the tables and buffets. Adina even cleaned up one of my little guy's protein spills with panach and a smile. This team is a cannot miss. Our kids, and we, were bereft upon leaving them behind on the ship. See my trip reports on the TR board.

I didn't know you could request a server. If we decide to ask for someone y'all have recommended, how do we do it?

Thanks much,

Kim :)

By all means, request early or late seating. Perhaps, request a private table or a large, shared table. But, I really wouldn't bother to request specific servers for your first cruise.

DCL has enough juggling to do to make sure that everyone is accomodated, that people are assigned to the appropriate rotation, that passengers share tables with similar passengers, and that servers' workloads are reasonably even.

I could see returning passengers making an effort to be served by "old friends" from a previous cruise. Even so, and even though we felt we received great service, I'm not going to request the same server and asst. server. (They're probably paired differently by now anyway.)

Just about everyone thinks their servers are the greatest. That's just an indication that the quality of the service is extremely high overall.

And, let's suppose that you get yourself assigned to a particular server based on somebody's enthusiastic recommendation. Who's to say that you would share the same opinion? (My wife would be repulsed if someone tried to feed her the last bite of food on her plate.) And perhaps you'll find yourself in a rotation with lots of toddlers and babies, even though your party doesn't include any (or vice versa), just because that's where the server is assigned. Or maybe the server has a new assistant who still has a lot to learn.

Let DCL do their job. You'll probably be better off than if you insist on a particular server.

Ohh, we know both of them well! Excellent servers and great human beings!

I also recommend Alex from Phillipines, Andrea and Zoran from Hungary!! And although I have never had Adina or Sylvester as my servers, I have seen how they treat their guests and those in neighboring tables, and think anyone who would get them would be very lucky!

Just wonderful people with great personalities that put the Magic in rotation dining!

I am VERY partial to MacLean as head server, although Gaspare does a tremendous job also!!!

Makes me feel "homesick" when we talk about our favorite servers because they do make the Magic "home" for us!

You can go to Dining Room Changes at Embarkation and make your request. I know I always do!!!!!

We returned from the Feb 14 sailing and had Sylvester (India) and Wawan for our servers. They were fantastic. Sylvester has been on cruise ships for 12 years, not sure how long Wawan has been on but equally as good. They treated our children wonderful and they were sad to say goodbye. We would certainly request Sylvester and Wawan again. Have a great trip.

abitjaded, Adina is wonderful at her new job at Palo now ;) We were on the 2/7 Magic and had her for Monday brunch and loved her so much we requested her for our Wednesday night dinner. The lady putting our request in the book mentioned how nice that was of us to request her since it was only her 2nd day serving in Palo! We were completely shocked  This was our second cruise and on the first we were completely spoiled by brothers Marco & Salvatore from Italy and Adina was equally as competent, enthusiastic and knowledgeable as those two were with all their experience. She is so beautiful my DH who NEVER comments about other women EVER even when I point them out to him, could not stop talking about her. He wants to give her picture to someone out here in Hollywood because he thinks she's got that kind of look and I must say I totally agree ::yes::

We have had 12 servers and asst. servers and believe it or not only TWO are standouts. They deserve a raise and a pat on the back.
Tommy from Norway and Marcos. Marcos is suppose to be seen tonight in the "According to Jim" episode. Also Marcos is only in Palo.
I'm not sure what is was about Tommy's service, but it was stellar. He is leaving the middle of April. I would highly recommend him. If you request him, give him and big tip and tell him Blountstyle and family says hello.

We saw Marco in Palo on the 2/7 cruise...what a set of eyes that man has....the deepest blue!!!!!

Yipee! Good for Adina! She started as the Hostess at Palo. The only sad thing is she seems to adore kids. She sure was good to ours. I think Adina is one of those people who would be good at anything. She has an amazing background. Did she mention where her brother is these days?

there are a few people in the slyvester from india fan club.........i can see we all loved his service for the same reasons:)

Did you ever get to meet his brother Salvatore? They are a riot together and he has those intense blue eyes as well :lovestruc

They told the greatest stories about each other and growing up and they would start laughing so hard they were both crying! It was a great night in Palo that night, I'm sure we closed the place down. And the funny thing was Salvatore was our server and Marco was serving other tables!
