We are supposed to leave on Saturday on SW to fly to WDW and dh tells me today that he thinks we should drive.

Seriously?!?!?!?!?!? I need a drink!

I say stick a pin in his eye! :rotfl:

Tell him to drive, but you get yourself on that flight!! We leave on Saturday too!

I'd hand DH the keys to the car and would tell him to knock himself out AFTER he dropped me at the airport on Saturday. :)

 Why on earth would you not use paid airline tickets? Are they refundable? Sorry, I'm a guy and I just don't get it. Then again, I also have absolutely no interest in driving to Florida.

We can get a credit back through Southwest. We just have to fly within a year.

His co-workers have convinced him that it's an easy drive. He hates the idea of 5 people flying with luggage and all of the stuff that we haul. He LOATHES going through security.

I think that my saving grace is going to be that we booked a hotel on points to stay at on Saturday night at the airport before we fly out. According to the terms of the reservation "cancellations received within 5 days of check-in date will be subject to supplier cancellation fee equal to one-night room and tax"

Can't make the call until 9 so we shall see.

Oh - don't you just love it when they listen to "co-workers" over you? :confused3 Sounds exactly like something my DH would do. I will talk about an upcoming vacation for months and months; he'll have nothing to offer really. Then 1 week before we leave he'll start asking, "Are we doing this? Are we doing that? So and so said to do this." It's a little late sweetie. Ya should have been more engaged months ago. :rolleyes1

Honestly I WISH it was easier for us to just drive to Disney. It would make our vacation so much cheaper!!!! Changing your mind at the last minute though- not cool.

Well we are saved! We can cancel our pre-flight hotel and get the points back, but it will cost us $100. I told him we are flying and we will drive next time if he wishes. Done and over - hopefully!

With 5, I can see his concern. For us with only 3, it's not even cost effective for us to drive given the low fares we get from the DC airports. Still, he should have said something before you bought the tickets.

Oh my gosh, is something go around? I so feel your pain! I am supposed to leave next week with my sis and her whole family, and she now thinks they can't afford to go. We already have airline tickets and everything!:faint:

To be fair, a few weeks ago her youngest had her appendix out. $$$ for that. Then their computer died. $$ for a new one. But now I don't know what to do! She hasn't straight out said they are not going, just that she feels they are not in a good spot right now.:headache:

There must be something in the air, with so many wishy-washy people. Hey, even if you have to drive (which I wouldn't stand for!) at least you know you are all going!

My DH just hates flying. He always gets a head-ache and usually catches a cold. So, a lot of times, he drives and we (or just I) fly. His job gives him a lot more freedom and vacation days than I get. If he wants to use his time to drive, I say go right ahead and -- oh, by the way, will you take my tennis racket, extra luggage, etc? We did that on a trip from Michigan to California this summer. DH and DD16 drove out and saw a lot of the country. I flew out, spent a week there, and then DD and I flew back. DH's buddy flew out to drive back with him on a different route. Everyone was happy. We've done it a few times for Florida trips, too. He wouldn't dare force me to drive anywhere though.

My dad is like this, too. One year, he drove from Michigan to WDW and my mom flew with me and DD. We called him when we got on the ME bus and said we were on the way to the resort. He was already at POFQ and said, "see, I told you I'd beat you if I drove."
