My husband is going for a conference and we got a room at the yacht club, but I thought it was going to be at the beach club and now I am all thrown off! I can switch it but I wanted to hear your recommendations first! I will have a 2 year old with us.

Thanks so much!

I would say Beach! Even though I've never been before, Beach just looks a lot for family friendly!! I know that they're like right next door to each other though.

They share the same pool, the best on property, so either way you have a great choice. I've stayed at both and when we stayed at the Yacht Club, I thought it was so great but then after staying at the Beach Club, I liked it better. I liked the "energy" better at the Beach Club. I think the Yacht Club is quieter, a lot more adult, conference people staying there. Beach Club has more families.

You can walk from one to the other; they are close together. So I think that saying stay at one because it has Cape May breakfast isn't a valid issue. For me, it's the decor and vibe that makes the difference so that's why I prefer Beach Club.

We've stayed at Beach Club as a family before and dh has been at YC for a conference, while dd and I were across the lake at BW. I like both resorts. I can't see changing just because BC is perceived to be more child friendly. It really doesn't make any difference. Both resorts are pretty much the same..YC is just a tad more 'formal', while BC is, well, beachy.
They are connected to each other, they share the same amenities. You'll be fine at either one.

My family and I stayed at the Yacht Club last July for a few nights before our Disney Cruise. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or stay there again. Let me know if you have any specific questions or if you want to see our pictures!

I say Yacht Club. DH & I stayed at Yacht Club on our honeymoon, then Beach Club with our kids on their first trip. Honestly, and I don't know why, we really preferred the Yacht Club. The fact that you have a 2 yr old, doesn't influence my opinion..either resort is fine with a young child. I say look at photos and pick the one you tend to like more.

Other than a tad bit more formal, I cannot see a difference and would not consider changing. . .

We alternate between the 2.... even though I prefer the YC side. It's a bit quieter (and we have small children so it's not like we're looking for peace/relaxation! :rotfl: )

This August though we'll be @ the BC seeing as how there was no AAA discount for the YC side :confused3 :confused3 but we could get $50 off per night on the BC side :confused3 :confused3

Either one is great.... you'll love Stormalong Bay! :thumbsup2

I have stayed at the YC on numerous previous trips (and will be again in about 3 weeks) and love it there. The YC lobby is a bit quieter than the BC lobby (at least, in part, because the BC lobby gets filled with families coming to the character meal at Cape May, which is right off the BC lobby). The YC is still very family friendly (it is WDW, after all). I have stayed there on a dozen trips with my children and never had any issues. They are both great resorts and they do share many of the same amenities, so you really can't go wrong with either one. Since you already have a reservation at the YC, there is no compelling reason to change.

I read that the bedding at Yacht club is like a hospital and beach club is way more comfortable too? I know these are stupid questions...I was talking to the hotel about a few things and everyone I talked to at the yc was pretty "annoyed" with me to say the least (just requests like a crib and will a gallon or 1/2 gallon of milk fit in the fridge). Yes, I think the bc seems more "fun". Ugh...i have to decide today!!!! Also, i heard it's a very far walk to the deli counter/store to get things like fruit/yougurt, etc. I know these could all be people who didn't enjoy their stay there too...

I will never recommend YC. Very unfriendly, rude staff, dirty room. The previous guests washcloths and towels were waiting for us in the shower upon arrival. Took forever and a day to get clean linens. No hot water. Maintenence banging on our door at 1:00 AM to try and fix the hot water. Not to mention our room took us at least 15 minutes of brisk walking through the corridors. This was the worst onsite property we've stayed at. We certainly did not get what we paid for.

If it matters, the chances of getting a balcony large enough to sit on are better at the yacht club. Many of the beach club balconies are only big enough to stand on. It's hard to explain what I mean, but if you look at pictures of the outside of the resorts you can see what I mean.

To request a crib you can call CRO, not the hotel directly. The refrigerators are not very big. I would not get gallons of milk for any hotel fridge.

Another possible option that is great with a 2 year old is the Beach Club Villas. The studios there are the size of a regular hotel room but they have a microwave also. There is only one bed (queen) and a sleeper sofa so the room feels larger. They have pack n plays. They are probably a longer walk, but we took our son there when he was 2 and loved the layout.

what is CRO? I tried requesting a crib too and they said basically they would put it in but it probably won't happen. My daughter WONt go in a pack and play and when she sleeps with us in a bed, she moves to much and wakes up and it's a nightmare for everyone. I'm honestly quite nervous about this hotel!

hi,

We stayed at the yacht club last may for 15 nights. We had a water view room on the fourth floor, we saw the fireworks everynight. Our room was clean and we had no problems with the bedding. the bedding and the beds were fantastic.the walk to the beach club shop is not much at all, only a few minutes!
We stayed with our daughter and she loved it. the hotel is family friendly and the staff are really friendly.
we are due to stay at the beach club in april for two weeks and hope it lives up to our holiday at the yacht club

Actually, I fell in love with the pillows at the YC and have since been trying to find some that are similar for my bed at home :rotfl: :rotfl: I just remember them being so soft and cushy :thumbsup2 The beds were quite nice too.... I don't think they were hospital like at all....

If you scan the boards, you'll come across dis'ers who have had negative experiences at either resort.... but there are far more positives I'm sure-people generally post about the negatives though....

I love both resorts. The fridges are the same in both the BC and the YC. YC does have a better chance of a full balcony. The Marketplace is in the BC, so if you want easier access to grocery-like items and ready made food, then the BC would be a smart choice :thumbsup2

As I mentioned before, DH and I just like the ambience of the YC over the BC but we'll stay at either as we like them both :goodvibes

Our girls were 2 and 4 for a BC trip, 4 and 6 and then almost 5 and 7 for YC trips.... they don't care which side we stay on as long as they can go in Stormalong Bay! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good luck to you!

Being that you have a child, I say go with BC. It has a bright, cheery, beachy atmosphere and character breakfast which make this resort seem very happy and exciting. It also has Marketplace, which is a nice place for some counter food and Italian ice cream! We also have young children and have stayed at YC one time and will probably not stay there again until our kids are older. We liked it, but we got an opposite feeling there as we get at BC. Sister resorts and share the main pool, but just different feelings to them.

We stayed at YC and LOVED it! The children loved it too! In fact, we visited the BC several times and I preferred the feeling of the YC - less crowded, more personal attention because fewer crowds.

Have fun!

I liken it to starch shirt vs Hawaiian shirt. I know some people will disagree but that's just the vibe :goodvibes *I* get.

I love this! Totally agree! YC is beautiful, but felt a bit uptight. I had my heart set on Boardwalk after watching one of those Samantha Brown Travel Channel shows, and when we visited I realized that I'm a more laid back kind of gal. My family was there in our jeans and t-shirts mingling with the suits and dresses.

We have stayed at both, and have no complaints!
They share Stormalong Bay and are so close it really doesn't matter

I am very, very happy to stay at either one of them...;)
