5. dryer/washer? how far/close?

1. how many roommates do you have?
I had 7 other roommates. you can have anywhere from 1-7 other roommates.

2. do you share rooms?
Yes. 2 people/bedroom

3. cooking? who cooks? everyone worry about themselves or every day someone else cooks?
you basically cook for yourself

4. is there wi-fi in the apartment or you can only go to the computer lab?
If you get a router you can have wi-fi. the apartment doesn't come with a router though.

5. dryer/washer? how far/close?
depends on the complex. For chatham they have a handful throughout the complex... i heard in vista they have a few on the first floor of each building.

6. any basketball courts/tennis courts on property?
yup!

7. do you bring your own cleaning supplies (broom, etc)
yup! I think my first apartment actually had a broom... but everything else you purchase on your own.

I would recommend you read through these boards and on facebook groups! they have a TON of information about all of your questions :goodvibes

yes. you basically have to purchase everything. (with the exception of furniture and basic kitchen utensils. )

Thank you SO much of your help :)

I asked about the cooking because my cousin did this last year and she lived with 7 others and she said one person cooked a day and made food for everyone (dinner wise) and everyone took turns but havent been able to get a hold of her to ask her all the questions i posted here

Wow!

With all the people i've ever met on the CP, no one did that with cooking! It's too hard to work around everyone's schedules! And to do that for 4-7 months! wow! :goodvibes

Wow! I've never heard of roommates doing that.

I love to cook and cook all the time at home, but I'm so glad I get to take a break from it during the program. I plan on living off of Lean Cuisines and restaurants. :)

Damn. I can't cook for my life......soooo I'll be living off toast, cereal and fast/frozen food.

Do we get cheap food in the break rooms at work? That was one of my favorite parts about working at a theme park (lol), we got to eat the same food that they served in the park but for way cheaper. A medium drink and fries was only $1.70! So, I basically ate all of my meals at work. My favorite was the General Tso. Oh, how I miss Busch Gardens meals. lol. Cheap and delicious!

Wow, when I worked at Busch 2 years ago, it was way more expensive! A drink, chicken strips, and dessert usually came to around $6, I think. Were you at Williamsburg or FL?

FL. When I first started in 06 you could get chicken strips and a drink for 1.95. Best deal ever, but it's definitely gone up. I think just the strips are $1.65 now, but if you're friends with the food people they will load you up. ;) A medium drink is 80 or 85 cents and fries are 90. My lunch total was nearly always between three and four dollars. I know for a fact both General Tso and Taco Salad were $2.35 this past summer. There were days when I would go scrounging around outside for change. lol.

With the whole, cooking in the apartment thing, that is really just a decision among you and your own roommates. I recommend however you set some kind of kitchen ground rules from the start. I never had an issue, but I know other who had them. They bought food and their roomies ate it on them without permission or replacing it because they said they would 'share' food. I found it works best to have YOUR food and YOUR drinks but share things like condiments, seasons, etc. I know my roomie and I got along well enough that if I was working late, she'd make a little extra of her dinner for me and I would do the same for her. Occasionally we'd have group cooking party were we all made a big dinner together.

I can't speak for how things are at the resorts, but each park has a main cafeteria you can go to eat at with variety of selections as well as some have an additional, smaller, location with some more snackish food options. At least the two I worked at did. The food is not super cheap, but it's still cheaper then you would pay if you were to eat in the park. You are always welcome to pack a lunch as well.

Every area has a break room backstage. There are places to sit, soda machines, snack machines, etc. for quick bites on those short breaks. They ususally have microwaves and water fountains as well. USUALLY. Every location is different. Some places you might have to share a break room with multi other roles in the general area or you might share a break room with people just from your work location. It varies WAY to much to give you an answer of EXACTLY how your particular work location is gonna work since you don't know what that location is yet.

How long are breaks?

It varies by location and shift length.

I was always scheduled for 8 1/2 hour shifts.

at one of the resorts I got 1 one hour break. At the other I got 2 half hour breaks.

As far as break rooms and food goes at the resorts, at my locations we didn't have anything back stage. We had some vending machines and such and we could go to the quick service food locations that we had, but we had to be out of costume if we went there.

I'm not sure if it's that way at all of the resorts, though.

For me (Character Attendant) if I was working 6 hours or less, I got two 15 minute breaks. 6+ hours, had the two 15 minute breaks + an hour for lunch. If there were spares assigned to our area for whatever reason, they usually granted us extra breaks even if it was just to go refill our water bottles.

The no lunch hour long break unless you are working more then 6 hours I found to be a pretty universal thing for mostly all roles.

Just for consistancy's sake, the company tries to give CPs breaks on the same basis as Full Time Cast Members. In most Frontline roles, it plays out as follows:
  • 15 minutes paid break per 4 hours worked.
  • An additional 15 minutes break for any Cast Member extended at least 4 hours beyond their scheduled off time.
  • 30 minutes unpaid lunch for all shifts of at least six hours.
  • An additional 30 minutes unpaid lunch for any Cast Member extended at least 6 hours beyond their scheduled off time.

For CPs, some areas may alter the breakdown of these rest periods to suit business needs. But the break time per hours worked ratio is generally the same.

Do they count your break time after you changed to normal clothes or before?

Before. You generally have to take your breaks in costume. If you can change out of costume, you're more than welcome to, but it's really not worth the hassle.
