Serious Question from FP+ hater

Yes, I'm a hater already and haven't even used it yet. BUT, decided to give it a go...Thinking with my expectations so low it has to be better than what I'm thinking.

Trying to understand FP+ before our trip (months away now). The posts about the long FP lines BEFORE the scanner - If my FP+ time is for, let's say, 1:00pm - 2:00pm and I get IN the FP+ line at 1:45pm. What will happen to me if I get to the scanners AFTER 2:00pm? Will the scanner turn me away?

Just trying to plan appropriately and this will seriously restrict even more using your FP's.

There's a buffer of 15 minutes after your window where your FP will still work. Also, CMs will let you in at their discretion, I doubt they'll deny you entry if a ridiculous line is the sole reason you're late.

When are you going? We saw lines to get to the first scanners in early February, but nothing remotely close to what just happened. If you're not going over a holiday or super busy time don't let these new reports freak you out too much.

We too encountered some long FP+ line over NYE week. It was mostly people who thought just having the band gave them access or they were too early for their window. It took time to explain to them the problem (if they spoke English) and have them move to the side. For example, at Space M. the line went all the way back by the peoplemover! Once we scanned our MB after the wait, we walked all the way right on to the ride! Even thought the line was that long, it was really only about 6-7 min to get scanned. That was kind of what we ran into that week. Once past the scanner, pretty much would walk onto the ride.

Thank you to the OP for asking this question and thanks for the responses.
I am going on spring break and have a Peter Pan FP+ at 12:45 p.m., at the peak of crowd craziness.

I'd love to know if Disney has spread out the FP+ sufficiently throughout the day and by fifteen minute intervals. This was my "best match" time. (The other FP were slotted into the morning; of course I switched them to afternoon.) Is it better to show up right at 12:45 p.m. or after 1 p.m.?

I do not think it matters.

I assume your FP+ window for Peter Pan is 12:45pm to 1:45pm? Nothing has changed from when it was FP legacy in that respect surely. You can show up at any point within that 1 hour window and gain entry to the ride through the FP return line.

I have seen people turned away who were in line before the designated time, but got to the front a few minutes after... but that was during the test period and I'm sure they complained at guest services.

:thumbsup2

So as someone who knows how it works, try to pay attention to the things going on in front of you, watching the CM to see if they are trying to explain something, listen to what's being said. You don't want to be standing there for 5 minutes thinking you're in line (and having a line form behind you) when the clump of people in front of you is just waiting for their time to go or having it explained to them.
