Serious Question abt a Kerry bumper sticker

Keep it on your car and apply for a concealed weapons permit.

I like that idea, but I would bet that the OP wouldn't go for that...

Maybe she should carry mace, though. Especially if she is a woman travelling alone with her kids.:D

I'm with disney4us2002. For the safety of your family while moving I'd remove it. Yes, it is your right to support any person you choose. But if it is already causing you problems I would think you would put you and your family's safety first. Why let your son feel terrorized by nutcases?

Keep it on your car and apply for a concealed weapons permit

Like I said.....why let your son be terrorized by nutcases.

I'm sorry, exercising the right keep arms makes me a nutcase?

My opinion is that you remove it. Of course, I won't let anyone put political signs in my yard (with the only exception being signs support our local school levys). There are too many fanatical people on all sides of political races and I would rather be safe than sorry. Besides, who I support is my business and nobody elses.

I think it's just awful that people can't let others have their own opinion without trying to intimidate them.

As many of you know I work in the Bush/Cheney '04 election campaign. I asked a couple of the field directors why they did not have bumper stickers on their cars and they said it was because of vandalism and confrontation. It just wasn't safe for them personally to have the bumper sticker on the car.

I find that totally unacceptable no matter what side it comes from. Unfortunately neither party has a monopoly on immature jerks.

Besides it may not be the owner of the car driving it. My sister (the Democrat) borrows my car all of the time (hers is very old and she can't afford a new one). Sometimes I drive her car if I have to run an errand and she has my car for a trip.

::yes:: As other posters have said, it is sad that the poison of divisive partisan politics has brought us to this point. :(

You mean you don't think people have been doing things like this for as long as there have been political parties? Guess what? There have always been and will always be jerks in the world!:D

I get yelled at by other motorists, my car has been spit on and some very lovely boys in a white Ford truck with Texas plates thought it was funny to play like they were going to rear end me at a red light (with my son in the car) while yelling "Bush Rules!"
Keep it on your car and apply for a concealed weapons permit

You need a concealed weapon to deal with someone spitting on a vehicle or someone being on your bumper at a light? :scared1:

No, as a matter of fact, I don't. However, as a reply to the OP who seems concerned for her safety and well-being and that of her son, I offered just one of many options that she could use.

Carrying and using a concealed weapon responsibly wouldn't be such a bad thing for anyone who finds themself travelling alone or just concerned for their safety in general. But that's a whole different thread entirely.

If you feel threatened and harrassed then remove the bumper sticker.

I live minutes away from the Bush Ranch in Crawford, TX, and we see bumper stickers from each side. I was under the belief that this is why we have the freedom to vote for whomever we choose. Regardless of who wins the Presidency, we are all part of the United States of America. I am very sorry that some people can not be civil, and remember that fact. Follow your gut feeling about the bumper sticker.

I totally agree with EsmeraldaX...............leave it on the car.

While I am no Kerry supported, by golly I fully support your right to endorse and support anyone you wish.

Many have died to give you that right..............so use it.

The "reasonable man" knows that there are plenty of jerks out there and they come in all stripes and pursuasions.

I goto school in an urban enviroment, and my car has two GWB stickers on it. I have my window bashed, and my car spit on. I refuse to take the sticker off, because my pride for our great President is worth more than money! But seriously, it's just ridiculous the looks I get for having a Bush sticker. College kids here support Kerry, and if you don't, they think you are seriously evil.

That has got to be the most idiotic statement I have heard in very long time  But since its a "fact" I'd like to know where you obtained your information

BTW, thanks for warning me; I'll never consider moving to Colorado!

Could please add Texas to that list?

To the OP: You could always start off with it on your car and see how things go. If you leave it on I hope you have a hassle free time.

There are idiots on both sides of the political spectrum. Sounds like you've run into a few. As I said previously if you're worried I would simply remove the sticker.

could be the caffiene!!!! lol Your save surge sign always
makes me laugh and I find it hard to take anything else you
say seriously because of it. Take what u need and leave the rest.
BTW, I hope u r doing your best to get all your peers registered
so we can have a balanced election-young people are among the
worst to turn out.

OP- get out of colorado asap and leave that sticker on your
car, I live in a very urban area and in a state that voted for
Bush last time(we'll correct that this time). I have a bumper
sticker, a yard sign and wear buttons all the time. no one has
said boo to me-except to ask where I got them. Florida is full
of democrats who are steeled and determined to make their
votes count this time around, you should be fine.

First, I agree that what happened to the OP is completely inexcusable, and this is coming from someone who voted for Bush in 2000 and most likely will this year.

I say leave it on. Every point in the political spectrum has what I call the "Five percent fringe." Basically, 5% of anyone of whatever political persuasion -- liberal, conservative, libertarian, etc -- is so far out there that they'll do something like this. Just because you've run into some nutcases doesn't mean you'll run into them everywhere or to this extent.

To the OP, do what makes you comfortable. If leaving it on causes you anxiety, I can certainly understand if you do decide to remove it. Personally, I would hope you would leave it on. Don't let a handful of idiots silence your opinion.

Just one man's opinion.
