HI guys. It's been a Loooooooong time since I lst posted here but I have been a frequesnt lurker. It has been even longer since my last trip to WDW and I am seriously jonesing for a visit. My last trip was about 3 years ago :( and I am going crazy, as I USED to go on an almost yearly basis.

My boyfriend and I recently moved from Long Island, New York to a small town in North Carolina where we fulfilled my dream of owning a horse farm and becoming a riding instructor. The hours are long and the work is 24/7, but I do love it. Since the business is in it's infantcy there is no WAY we could take a vacation. But we have promised each other that when the biz is a success and turning a profit consistantly, that we will reward ourselves with a dream trip to Disney. Luckily our business appears to be speeding toward that goal. The HARD part will be finding someone to "mind the farm" while we are away.

Meanwhile...what the HECK can I do to ease this nagging pain that I have without my precious Disney??? I have been living vicariously through other posters :p !! I bought the WDW Explorer CD=ROM, which is OK but not what I was expecting. It helps just to hear the music....I had my boyfriend download from a "Napster" type site a while ago, various Disney sounds (like queue line music, the monorail announcement en Espanol!)

Aside from hanging out with you guys and maybe ordering the planning video to watch, what do you do to get you through those LOOOOOOOOONG stretches between trips?

PS...When we do take our celebratory trip, I was thinking 10 days In the Beach Club in a Epcot/water-view room.

By the time I get home and unpacked from my Disney Trip, I have my ressies for the next trip and I start planning. These boards help me ALOT!!! I take several mini trips to the Disney Store and the Character Shops. and Call me Crazy, but when we go out to a nice restuarant, I imagine if we were in Disney, and I am 50yoa. It Can't be my 2nd child hood, I have always done this.

Oh thank God! I thought maybe I was the only one who imagined I was in Disney everytime I go out to dinner. Particularly when we eat at Mexican restaurants...I am always imagining I am at The San Angel Inn!

Oh geez, I hear ya. I haven't been since early 1999. :( My family was considering going this summer, but then my mom broke her ankle and had to have surgery, so she doesn't want to go anywhere. I desperately want to go with friends, maybe over spring break, but I'm worried that it's just too expensive to happen. I too am living vicariously through the DIS boards, and hoping for a deal too good to pass up for the second week of March. Hello Disney gods? Please? ;)

How's your Internet connection? There's a site that plays streaming Disney World audio from the parks, shows, resorts, etc. I have DSL and it works fine. The site is (I hope I'm allowed to post this... sorry if I'm not... still pretty new here...) Disney Radio Then there are all the various Disney photo sites too. It's certainly no substitute for being there, but it's a nice little (free) slice of Disney to keep you going.

Hang in there! We'll be at Disney World too someday! Hey, we could set up a swap... I'll watch the farm while you go, and then you can take my college classes for me while I go! I bet I know as much about horses as you know about bioengineering :p

Hello 'former neighbor'!! (from Manorville!!)

I haven't expericenced WDW withdrawals yet, but I'm sure I will after our 1st trip in Sept.

But I have experienced cruise withdrawal...and its not pleasant. Withdrawal is tough but just keep in mind that YOU WILL GO BACK, YOU WILL GO BACK!! Maybe you'll get there sooner than you think now that you're so much closer.

Hope the South is treating you good.
I'd love to start over in Southers VA (small farm thing I always wanted)

Shelby

BRAINSTORM: I'll watch your horses and get a taste of my dream while you get your wish in WDW. Hows that sound?

Three years!!! How could you???? I haven't been to Disney in THREE DAYS and Im going through withdrawal:crazy:

"...what do you do to get you through..."

I use my Disney Bank One credit card for all my purchases, because it looks soooo cool, earns Disney Dollars and gets a terrific reaction from many cashiers when they see it. Picks up my spirit every time.

Well, we do have an upcoming trip planned, but it's not getting here fast enough. I have practically wished my short north-east summer away waiting for the end of October. It can't get here fast enough.
Just tonight I watched the Disney planning video. I would order it (afterall it is free). I love watching mine. I really regret now not keeping the older one's I had.
A little pixie dust sent your way, because 3 years is just too long.

Thanks guys. I really am missing my precious Disney World. All I can think of is that moment when I step out from under the MAin Street RAilroad Platform and onto Main Street, and see the castle in the distance and a huge sigh of relief "I'm HOME!!"

As for watching the ponies for me while I escape...hehheheee....Well there are 13 of them, plus all of my riding lessons you'd have to teach. But hey, if you don't mind! Part of the plan to be considered successful includes hiring some employees so that we can take a trip now and again. I know it can be done, and we getting close!

I still haven't found any place that makes a Brownie sundae like the Plaza Restaurant. THAT would tide me over for a few more months at least!

Or a Mexican place that makes queso fundido like San Angel Inn...

Or frozen lemonade...

Wow, I really associate Disney with food!

I had to put off my Disney World trip for almost a year and a half because I couldn't find anyone that could watch my horses.
If you come to Michigan to watch my horses, I'll come to North Carolina to watch yours... Then we can both enjoy a WDW vacation...

My vacation planning video came yesterday! :Pinkbounc I was so excited to watch it... even though my brother made fun of me for it the whole time :(

I get the vacation planning video every year and watch it everytime I feel the need for a spur of the moment Disney vacation (I could watch every vacation video I have in a one day period if I'm having really bad withdraws) ... My whole family laughs at me but then again they think I'm a little crazy for loving the hot summers in Florida too :sunny:

Jennasis, don't feel bad, I was just at WDW in November, and I'm also going thru major withdrawals here, lol!!! Reading all these topics, and looking at my photos makes it worse!!!! You are not alone!!! We are what one would call Disneyaholics!!! LOL!
