It looks good and has great reviews but I haven't seen one episode of Firefly.

NO! I saw it tonight and it was great! It starts off a little confusing, but everything makes sense as the movie goes along. We're not talking about an Oscar contending movie, but if you want a fun, action, sci-fi movie then this is it. The characters were really great too.

I just wish it would make money...I'd love to see a sequel!

RUN to go see it!!!!

Not that I'm biased or anything! :rotfl:

I think you can pick it up fairly easily. If anything, it will make you want to run out and buy the series!

No. I'm a Firefly watcher and DH wasn't and he still enjoyed the movie. There are some really funny scenes in there.

It's a really fun movie to watch. Very nicely done.

Joss Whedon (the creator and director, and dare I say minor diety) has done a wonderful job of making the movie accesable to anyone that has never seen 'Firefly'. It is an excellent movie and a must see. Also, you should rent the 'Firefly' disks and watch those as well. It really is an amazing show.

Just kick back and enjoy the action. I've never seen Firefly either but Serenity was a lot of fun.

I watched Firefly and we haven't had the chance to see the movie yet. I watched the first 9 minutes online and it looks GREAT! It looks like they were doing a pretty good job of explaining things from what I saw.

I hadn't seen firefly, and it held no interest to me, but my DBF wanted to see Serenity, so we did, and I loved it. I laughed and I cried. I think you will truly enjoy it. NOW I will watch the series.

I agree with Desiree, you'll be able to follow along and will probably want to watch the Firefly series afterward. Great series that ended about 120 episodes or so, too soon. :flower:  :flower:

You'll be fine. They do a great gloss on the characters and their situation, and there's so much to look at in terms of effects and action, you'll be pulled in immediately. The only thing you might miss is a sense of the history and landscape; the old west meets sci-fi theme is something of a given and not explained that much.

If you see it, you'll definitely want to Netflix the series.

I agree -- you don't need to have seen Firefly to like it. I had never seen the show, but now I've added it to my Netflix cue. I'm sure there were little things I missed, but never felt like I didn't understand what was going on.

Dude, seriously. Go see this movie. It's totally blows Episode I, II, and maybe even III out of the water.

Most reviews I have read from non-Firefly fans have been positive. I had seen the shows but it had been awhile. I really loved the movie. It took me a second viewing to realize just how good it is. It's a shame that with all the positive reviews (both critics and movie-goers) that it is not doing better at the box office. I wonder if alot of non-firefly fans are also concerned about not being able to understand the movie.

i must be in the minority here. I didnt get it, and I wasnt a big fan of it either. felt like I was missing all the backstory.

I say go see it, but it flopped for me.

Cheers,
Jungle Josh
