Hi,
We're thinking of staying at the Sheraton Vistiana next year. Has anyone stayed here that would recommend it.
Also, we are not hiring a car, so is it quite easy to get around using the shuttles. How many are there in the day etc.
We are planning to visit all the Disney parks and would aslo like to visit Seaworld, and maybe Aquatica and another universal park, time allowing. Oh and maybe a trip to International Drive for a bit of shopping!
I'm guessing we might need busses for some of these.
Its our first time to Florida so have lots of questions!

The units themselves are lovely; they have all been re-done in the last 3-4 years all the way to the studs. Some of the "infrastructure" (pools, etc.) is a little dated in older sections, but still all well-kept. It is in my short list of places I'd be happy to stay in Orlando.

I don't know about the shuttles; I've never stayed here without a car.

There are two Sheraton Vistana properties in Orlando. One is the Sheraton Vistana Resort (closer to Disney) and the other is Sheraton Vistana Villages (located on I-Drive). Which one were you considering?

The Sheraton Vistana Resort/Villa's does have a third party shuttle to the Disney parks, it is NOT free.
The charge is $9/person/day Roundtrip. The shuttle service has a few runs in the morning and a few in the afternoon i.e. it is not constantly running like Disney buses where there is always one coming around the bend.
We originally had this resort booked for June and then cancelled our ressie because we got into a DVC resort instead.
You can call the front desk and ask about transportation options but it sounds like a car rental might be worth it if you are leaving the resort a lot to go to different parks/attractions.
With our family of 8 we would have had to pay $72/day just to get to Disney parks and we would be at the mercy of their schedule which isn't too convenient.

I wouldn't stay at either Vistana property without a car.

They are both very nice resorts. I prefer Vistana Villages because it seems smaller. Both are decorated nicely and well-maintained.

I used to own a Starwood Timeshare and have stayed at both properties.
