So, I think we have decided on Sequoia Lodge this year (only ever stayed at Cheyenne before)

Is it worth upgrading the room from a standard room?

Looks like a Montana room (?) is only about £40 more for 4 nights than a standard...

Is it worth it???

The Montana rooms are situated in the main building, while standard rooms are in the adjoining small lodges - other than that, the only difference is that Montana rooms have a mini bar. I think the standard and Montana rooms are the same size. A Montana room would probably be worth the extra £40 if you're visiting during the colder weather. :)

There is a possibility that even if you book a standard room, you might be upgraded to a Montana room on check-in - if the hotel isn't full. Or assuming there is availability, you can certainly pay for an upgrade if you decide you have made a mistake booking a standard room.

We have had a Standard room once and every other time a Montana Room.

I think its worth it.

The standard room we had in one of the lodges seemed smaller than the Montana Room and we also seemed to miss things going on in the main hotel such as character meetings.

The Mini bar isn't electronic so you can load it up with whatever you want and use it as a fridge ie when take something out it doesn't automatically charge your room, you are only charged when they count up at the end of each day. The drinks in it aren't really much more expensive than in the hotel shop in any case.

We always book a Montana room now when we go.

ive only staed there once, we booked a montana room and got upgraded free to a suite, it was so lovely, 2 huge windows overlooking the lake, a huge bed, a sof and an armchair a big tv and dvd player, a dining table and chairs, a sink and cupboards, a mini bar and a big bathroom with another sink!! no that we even used any of it we were only there for 2 nigths and we were constantly at the park, but the trip was for my 18th birthday andit defenatley made it morespecial, looking over the lake at nigt beingable to see the castle!
it was very handy to be in the main buildig close to te resteraunts and stuff so id recommed a montana room, going agin in nove hopefully so going to bok a montana room

We are staying in the SL in July and decided to book standard rooms. I think if we had been going when it was likely to be colder we may have considered Montana rooms, or maybe if our children were little. We are going with 3 teenagers who are perfectly capable of walking from their room to breakfast every day (whether we can get them out of bed is another matter) and they're not overly bothered about meeting characters.

Because there are 5 of us going we need two rooms. I think a Montana room was only £50 extra for the whole trip but we decided that we would look on the £50 saved as extra spending money. When we booked we were told that the standard rooms are exactly the same as the Montana but they are not in the main building and do not have a mini bar. To be honest, I'm not sure I'd want to leave the kids in a room on their own with a mini bar so I think we made the right choice :rotfl2:
