For our trip in January we are thinking of changing our Santa Fe booking to the Sequoia Lodge. I think the pool will be a nice addition to the holidays as the little fella loves the water and slides too. We would book a Montana room which I take it puts you in the main lodge part. The reason we are doing this is that we don't want to get all wrapped up in warm clothes for breakfast and to visit the pool plus looking at SL it could be quite a walk from our room to the front of house.

Questions
Is the pool in the main lodge, I have spoken to someone who said it was close but in different buildings, is this right?
With the parks closing quite early in January is the pool open late so we will have time for a swim?
Do they have changing facilities down by the pool or should I just walk through reception in my Speedos (I am joking) and cowboy boots (ala Pierce Brosnan)?
Is the pool usually heated quite well?
Is the restaurant where we would be fighting for breakfast also in the main building?

I think that was all I needed to know.

Hi, I cant help with all your questions but will try with some...

Yes, the pool from memory is in one the building at the back...if you were looking towards the building from the lake, its to the left.. I think there should be a map on the SL FAQ's sticky

 Urmm no I'm sure there is changing facilities... I def didnt witness anyone walking around like this...

Yep, when we stayed there breakfest was in both restaurants which are opposite each other on the ground floor next to the doors opening out to the lake.

I think that was all I needed to know.

I've just looked and theres no resort map... I think we still have ours so I will try and take a pic if I can find it for you. Maybe that will have the opening times on it too.

Your welcome... I will post of the SL sticky too.

When we went to the pool it was warm and there are changing facilities. However, it is outside the main hotel in one of the lodges as shown on the map. We used the pool in winter once and you will need warm clothes to go from the pool back into the main hotel (or I guess you could run quickly) as it was freezing outside!

Yeah it looks quite a distance from the main building to the pool, we would likely freeze if we went walking from one to the other in swimsuits, ski suits maybe.

Has anyone used the gym in there? Is it any good?

pool is in one of the lodges but its not that far. changing facilities r quite small only 2 cubicles and small communal area (that was in ladies) i just threw tshirt and jeans on poncho towels on kids and came back to room to get showered. it was a warm day but pool was quite cold. freezing when i first got tiik me 5mins to persuade myself in and ds was shivering after a while so we didnt stay in to long. towels r 2 euro to hire so i would advise taking ones from ur room.

Hello, I love the Sequoia Lodge Hotel. I have stayed at the Hotel New York and also the Disney land Hotel but alway seem to go back to the Sequoia Lodge. it will be our fourth time there. Can't wait going in October. I like the bar area, it is big and you can watch the world go by.
Happy Days

Hi, We stayed in the Sequoia Nov 2006 and July 2007.

The pool is heated and it was like a sauna when we took a look at it. It is in a buiding just off the main hotel. It was definately open in the evening. There are changing facilities in the pool area so a wander in trunks wont be necessary! The restaurant is in the main building and if you book an early slot there will be no need to wait, We didnt have to queue on either of our visits. The only thing I will say is that there can sometimes be a monster :sulley: queue to check in, so one of you can queue to get booked in whilst the rest of your group can browse in the shops or visit the arcade. There is also a little play area with seating close to the bar.

Thanks for all the replies, think that was all of my original questions covered.

All we have to do now is ring up and make the alteration to our revervation. Josh is just about talked around to stopping here as the Santa Fe becomes a distant memory (well May) for him.

I was thinking of taking some large beach towels with us but drying them would be a right pain so the suggestion to use the ones from the room is great.

Thanks to you all

steve
