Hi,

I have booked for myself and my daughter to go to Disneyland Paris next march.
We are staying at the Sequoia Lodge in a montana room for 3 nights.
However, i have just discovered that for an extra £44 we could stay at the Newport Bay Club.
What should i do? should i stick with the Sequoia lodge (the idea of the roaring fire in reception in March when it is cold sounds great) or should i try and upgrade to the Newport Bay. Which is the better of the two hotels???

Thanks.

Hi poppie123,

we stayed with our litte one in the Newport Bay Club this May. It was very nice. People were friendly and the view over Lake Disney is great! But it's a longer walk from Newport to the Parks... Sequoia Lodge is nearer I think. But anyway, you have Shuttle Buses. We never had a breakfast in the Newport so I can't say anything to this point. The two "bad" things for us were: it was very loud (even midweek and not during holidays; maybe because of the size of the hotel?) and second: you have to walk a lot from the reception to your room. We stopped the time: we needed 8,5 minutes.

We've never been to Sequoia so far but it's on our list for our next trip!:yay:

Regards,
Winterfee

I have just returned from the SL and stayed at the NB 5 years ago. I think I'd stick with the SL if I were you. I really liked the forest theming and imagine the roaring fire will be lovely on a cold night.

I stayed in NBC in June, and while it was nice, I didn't think it was anything very special. I've never stayed at Sequoia Lodge, but next trip I would probably try it rather than stay in NBC again, to try something different. My first choice would of course be to stay in the Disneyland Hotel.

I don't think the walk from SL would be noticeably shorter than from NBC (I could be wrong - it's happened before).

I would stick with the SL as you have booked a Montana room.
We stayed at SL in March this year and it was great we had pre-booked a Montana room and were upgraded to a lake-view Montana because it was quiet season. We could see the park and even the castle away in the distance.

I don't think you waould see the park across the lake from NPB as it is at the other end of the lake.

SL is very close to walk to the parks even in March we didn't use the shuttle buses at all, 5 min to Disney Village and 5 more into the parks.

I'd stick with SL and use the extra money saved for a special treat while you're there.

We stayed in both. SL & NPB are both very beautiful. U cant go wrong with one of them. Service in in both very good, stuff in both very friendly.

The big difference is the theming. My personal tip: If its cold outside SQ, if its hot NPB.

So just stay and have fun...

PS:I am in March there myself :woohoo: (in the park - not the SQ..)

If its cold outside SQ, if its hot NPB.
I can see why you say this, but having just stayed there in hot weather I'd say the SL is fab in the summer. Lovely and shady with all the trees around. I think I liked it though as it reminded me of the log cabin we stayed in during our honeymoon in California in June 1990!

Thanks for all your thoughts on both of the hotels.
It seems most think i should stick with the Sequoia Lodge so that is exactly what i am going to do.
March seems such a long way off, my daughter is counting the days til we go already!!

ive only stayed at sequoia but yes, in my opinion, i think ur best off sticking. it is really lovely, and i can imagine in the colder months it would be really cosy! you've made a good choice

I am a bit biast as i have just booked to return to the Sequoia Lodge for the fourth time I love it! although never stayed at the Newport it didn't look as atmospheric and the Sequoia is closer to the park (yeah i know it's not by loads but at the end o the day it would feel like it!!!!! you'll see what i mean....)

Hotels there are merely a base anyway you get up you fall down to breakfast you leg it to the parks, then at night you drag yourself up the stairs into bed ready to do it all again tommorow......

In the colder seasons Sequoia is also amazingly atmospheric it really adds to it's cosiness, i prefer the Montana Rooms to the cabin it's nicer being part of the main hotel) and had a lakeside last year which was quite special as it had a lovely view to the castle-however not essential as like i say-you only go to your room to collapse!

I couldn't comment on the swimming pool and that there, it looks gorgeous in the photos but in the years i have been going to disney I have never had time to look at it, let alone use it!!

You'll have a fab time right where you are!

Personally I find the SL is a much better choice most of the time. It has the best pool, quieter breakfast expereiences, a closer walk and better service. After 3 attempts of the NBC, I am not likely to return. But I have never been disappointed on any of the 5 trips to the SL!

But I'm biased, I grew up near Sequoia National Park in California.

I've stayed several times in both hotels and I prefer Sequoia Lodge. Better themed, better pool, smaller (NBC is huge) and less crowded. In fact, I stayed last month in Newport Bay Club and our family decided it was our last time there.

Getting worried guys as i have just upgraded from Santa Fe to Newport Bay please tell me i have done the right thing!!!!! Also wanted to know how much towel hire is etc for the pool or is it just better to bring your own towels?
Thankyou
Jane x

I would not worry too much. Although it's my least favorite of the upscale hotels, it stands head and shoulders above the Santa Fe IMHO. I am sure you will have a great time.

One key tip though, either go to the first seating of breakfast or opt for Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfasts.

About towels, I believe they are free at the NBC. If all else fails, bring the ones from your room.

Don't worry, NBC is much better than SF and within walking distance to the Park, Studios and D Village.
