still not managed to book as yet, i noticed that i could book newport bay rather than sequioa loedge for an extra £120, is it worth doing does anyone know please, also the current discount period runs out today and has anyone any idea when the next one will start as i am waiting for some money to come in

thanks

No definitely not.

SL is much nicer than NPB.

Newly refurbished, a shorter walk and a lot less busy.

Sorry, don't know when the next discounts will start, but there's bound to be one soon.

Another vote for Sequoia Lodge. Newly refurbished rooms, and I love the bar/lounge area - it's much more spacious than the NPB.

Theres my mind made up there then, thanks for your quick responses, just need an offer to arise when this cheques turns up

Another vote for Sequioa Lodge. The rooms are nicely refurbished and the general upkeep is massively better than Newport Bay.

One of the biggest problems with NB is that it's just too big. You can be a 10 minute walk away from the front door.

I have a similar quandary though mine is Santa Fe vs Cheyenne vs SL.

My son loves Cars so he'd probably prefer the Santa Fe. To me the overhaul looks cheap and I've never like the hotel anyway.

I'm a massive fan of the Cheyenne but we've stayed there on our last 3 visits and fancy a change.

I'm swaying towards SL because I want to stay in one of the new rooms. If we did go with SL, it would be a 'lodge' room. I was never a massive fan of the lodges, has anyone who's stayed there lately had a complementary upgrade to the main building? The Montana rooms are nearly double the price of the Cheyenne which would make it hard to justify.

Sequioa Lodge all the way! All though, I haven't tried any others :lmao:

Though, I guess that just shows how much I love it ? :)

We've never stayed in the lodges, and I don't think ever would, we love being in the main building with a lake view.. it just adds to the whole experience in my opinion.

Another vote for SL if I had to choose between there and NPB. I haven't stayed in either though - I just don't like the look of the NPB, just too big for us, although the theming looks nice!

Now the SL has been refurbed I think it looks lovely - and I'm beginning to wish I'd booked here rather than HNY for our June stay but was swayed by the hot breakfast items and slightly shorter walk from HNY.

When we were booking earlier in the year, the SL upgrade had just been completed and it was coming out more expensive than the NPB! So, to have it back down below that cost is great :).

We are going at Christmas this year and I am sorely tempted to book the SL as it just looks lovely for that time of year. My only issue being if it is really cold, that extra walk to the hotel won't be great with a 4 yo and 7 yo! Need a 50-60% off the DLH offer :rolleyes1... :lmao:

If you're ever stuck again but fancy a change, you can order hot food - just you need to pay for it :) (Though I doubt the price would be a huge amount compared to the difference between SL and HNY).

Having stayed at the SL over christmas time twice now, and again in late november this year, I would HIGHLY reccomend it. It's simply amazing, and very christmasy!

I had the same dilemma! I've not stayed in Newport before, but SL I have and LOVED it.

Although this year we opted for Newport just for something different and in the end it was only £40 more expensive for Newport, :) i've heard good reviews for both so I think either one would be lovely.

We have stayed in both and I love the sequoia lodge. There was nothing wrong with NPB but for us SL just had that extra something. :goodvibes

I know it isn't exactly recent but we were upgraded to a montana room for free on our first trip in 2009. I guess it would depend how busy the hotel was.

Interesting thread & I was expecting more votes for Newport!

Is hotel new York & DLH the only 2 that have hot breakfast? Does that mean eggs, beans etc?

Yes HNY and DLH are the only two with hot items on the buffet.

But the HNY buffet has a lot less choice than DLH.

I have been to DLP 4 times now and have stayed in HNY, SL, NPB and Cheyenne and SL wins hands down. I absolutely hated the Cheyenne, the rooms were so cramped, NPB was nice, but was missing something. HNY was also very nice but again, the theme was a bit 'off' for me. Sequoia was just perfect!:goodvibes No way is the NPB worth extra money!

Another vote for Sequoia lodge especially if your booking in winter time.

It felt so much more cosier than the Npb & a lot closer to Disney parks.
And the refurbed rooms are fab.

What's the difference in choice..? We are going in October and i'm looking to stay at HNY. If we don't end up going to Florida in Jan we'll definitely stay this time at Disney Hotel.

BTW Sequoia Lodge all the way... But stay in the main hotel and not the lodges, we stayed in them the very first time we went and it's just not the same as the main hotel :)
