Sequal to the Dark Crystal...

Saw a little piece on Aintitcool about it. When Disney bought the rights to the Muppets did they get this as well?

I think they did. If I am not mistaken, and DS folks can answer this better than I, that movie was for sale in the Disney Store.

I LOVE The Dark Crystal! It's one of my all-time favorites. I don't know how I'd feel about a sequal. I wouldn't want it to be lame and disappoint me. If it were as great as the original I'm sure I'd love it.

Nope- not the only weirdo! My sisters and I spent many a night watching the Dark Crystal over and over. I passed the movie along to my own kids recently, and they thought it was kind of lame. I guess when compared to the special effects of Stars Wars and Harry Potter, it does seem rather "dated" in comparison.
I'm still a fan!

The Jim Henson Company still has the rights to Dark Crystal. The new movie is being produced by the Jim Henson Co. and Orphanage Animation Studios, I think, and distributed by Odyssey Entertainment.

David Odell, who wrote the original screenplay, is on board for the sequel. So is Brian Froud who designed the original characters, and the Henson kids are producing it. I think it sounds promising!
