When is it a better time to cruise ... September or January?
What is the difference in temperatures?

Are you planning on doing a 3 or 4 night or a 7 night, Eastern or Western? I have cruised the 3 night several times in Sept/Oct and found the weather to be perfect, a little warm, but not unbearable. I have done the Eastern 7 night in January. The weather in FL was quite chilly, but St Martin and St Thomas were beautiful 80 degrees and warm enough to swim. Castaway Cay was a bit more chilly, but still ok for swimming and sunning. I'll be cruising a western this Sept., so I can't help you with that weather yet.

NCRedding which western are you on ? the 11th or the 25th?? we will be on the sept. 25th, this is my first cruise and from what i,m hearing sept. sounds like a great time to sail!!!

We're on the 25th also--can't wait. Sailing with extended family: my DH, and DD; my parents; sis and brother in law; Brother and sis-in-law.

Wow that sounds like you should have gotten the group rate!!with all those people LOL I will be travling with DW,DD6 and i also cant wait!!!

September. Usually over our Anniversary. Weather has always been pleasant.
Hope the same holds true for our Halloween cruise this year.

we like going in January, but have done both months. I personally have been able to get better deals for us in January, and since we live in Iowa and it is very cold here in January, that is another reason we like to go then over September.

Is hurricaine season a problem in September? How about August? Anyone had a cruise interrupted or cancelled due to a hurricaine?

We're addicted to September and Jan/Feb cruises as these are birthday months for our family. The Sept. cruises are warmer (think summer, but without the oppressive heat), but you are in the middle of hurricane season. This means that the ship sometimes doesn't go where it is scheduled to go. You will have a great trip, but you might visit "alternative" ports. If you are flexible, this is wonderful. We also are scheduled Sept. 25 for our 11th trip on the Magic.

January/Feb. can be cool. It can also be hot. That sounds dumb, but we've had bad weather 2 of 6 trips.

Go in January. It gets real cold where you are and it is warm in the Caribbean. You will be able to swim and do everything you expected to. We choose January, just to get away from the cold and recharge. September it is still pretty warm here.
