September visit

Hello Everyone ~ fairly new to the Disneyland thread. We are veteran WDW visitors and will be making our first (adult only, mid 50's) trip to Disneyland in September.

We will be arriving on 14 September and have 3 days at Disneyland. Would love to hear thoughts from veteran Disneyland visitors about crowds, weather, etc. We are very excited about our first visit.

As a WDW vet, I recommend you take a look at HydroGuy's DLR Guide for WDW Vets thread:

It has a lot of good information about the similarities and differences between the two resorts and is a pretty good starting point for planning your trip.

September can be a good time to go. The best guess is that HalloweenTime will start on Friday, 9/12 this year, so you should be there just after that starts. Just note that this means high crowds on the weekends (so, you might see a fairly busy park on Sunday the 14th, but the weekdays will probably be pretty calm). I don't think the Halloween parties will start while you are there, so you probably won't have to worry about them. HalloweenTime means Haunted Mansion will have it's Nightmare Before Christmas overlay (Haunted Mansion Holiday, HMH) and Space will also have it's Halloween overlay (Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, SMGG). Big Thunder Carnival area will hopefully have Halloween-themed activities. It's a fun time to see Disneyland.
