Hi there,

We are planning our 3rd stay at Aulani. Coming from Australia, I am unsure of the peak travel periods in the USA, would be great if someone could fill me in as we usually try to avoid the very busy periods. We are planning 9 - 23rd Sept. Is this during one of the school breaks? Thanking you all in advance!!

I just booked our first trip for February so as far as Aulani goes, I am no expert, but as far as those dates go, nearly all schools in the US will be in session at that time.

no school vacations anywhere those weeks. Most schools in the US go back sometime in mid August or early Sept. So they're just getting under way. Labor Day weekend in 2017 is Sept 4, so you'll be good then - it's usually a 3 or 4 day weekend for most people. Hawaii schools generally have a break in October, so you won't hit that.

The only thing to worry about is that it's hurricane season and the weather could be iffy.

I think American Fall is the perfect time to go to avoid the crowds. We just came back and it was wonderful. All the crowd issues I read about in terms of chairs, drop off and aunty's etc. were not issues at all.

Thanks for your comments, sounds like a good choice, fingers crossed no hurricanes though :teeth:

Early to mid September is usually a great time to travel because all of the kids are back in school and there aren't any major holidays or breaks to deal with. Weather can be nice too provided there are no hurricanes in the area. :)

We went twice to Aulani in the same time frame you are planning on going there..... We experienced no crowd issues. Schools here in the states start mid to late August and some not till the beginning of September. You should be fine.

We were there 2 years ago over the Labour Day weekend until the following Thursday. On Labour Day it cleared out. The next few days were lovely. No line ups or crowds for anything. :). I wish our trip had been pushed back a few more days so our whole vacation was like that.

We were just in Hawaii September 15th-30th for our honeymoon. We were at Aulani September 24th-30th. The whole time was great - never found it overly busy anywhere, Aulani did not feel busy to us at all, and we had amazing weather the whole time.

That is an excellent time to go! Everyone has already stated that schools will have just started, so great timing. Happy Planning!
